As of now, they have the #1 pick for the 2012 draft, however, the Bulls received the Bobcats' 2012 first-round pick (top 14 protected in 2012, top 12 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 8 protected in 2015, unprotected in 2016) .. so I guess they'll keep their lottery pick and the Bulls will hold on to that pick for 2016

They were nothing more than a middling team with SJax, Wallace, Felton and Chandler as their core. Now that's a pretty solid group of guys to have if you can put a bonafide star on the team but what are the chances of that other than through the draft? Slim to nil. And that core of players is too strong to ever be a lottery team even though they were mere fodder for Orlando in the playoffs. That obviously wasn't enough for Jordan. He wanted to contend--or at least have a chance to contend--and subsequently blew up the team and hired a GM in Cho with the pedigree of rebuilding middling teams from the ground up. People giving the Bobcats shit should at least wait 3 more seasons before we really know how good/bad that team is.

Their other recent first round picks, DJ Augustin and Gerald Henderson. Tyrus has upside but is flawed. It would be more impressive if Charlotte had 2 or 3 first round picks this year.

This is more like, the Cavs before Kyrie Irving, Wizards before John Wall, Clippers before Blake, Magic before Howard, Cavs before Lebron, Wizards before Kwame.

Charlotte is almost doing the same thing: They got rid of Tyson Chandler and Gerald Wallace, drafted Walker/Henderson/Biyombo and if they follow the Bulls path they'll flip two of them for vets once they land their franchise guy and take off.

And a team with Kemba Walker, DJ Augustin, Bismack Biyombo, (Let's say they get super lucky) Anthony Davis and a 2013 lottery protected 1st, would not be better than the team you just listed. It's still just going to be middling. Then when Davis starts developing, Walker and Biyombo will be RFAs and teams will offer them large contracts. Then the Bobcats either let them walk and start rebuilding again or they match and cripple their cap. The destiny of a small market team.

Just look at the past 10 years for the Raps' former stars. Toronto fans gave everything to Vince, Bosh, Tmac and these guys gave the city/organization the middle finger when it got tough.

You don't know that team won't be better though and therein lies my point. I agree that team probably won't be better, but at least they have a chance to do something rather than stick with that you know. They could draft Davis this year and someone high next year and maybe even the year after. What if 1 or 2 of those guys turns into a true NBA superstar? The Bobcats will be set for the forseeable future (well 7 years that is until their star becomes a UFA). The Bobcats could have stuck with the core from two years ago that got 7th in the East and swept 4-0 by the Magic. Jordan had to choose between being another Atlanta for the next 3-5 years or commit to something that would put them in the best position to put out a contender.

Yeah, I guess.. but you would like to see the lineup you'll be fronting in the playoffs to play more than five games together through the regular season, that's all.. and it's frustrating to see when they're losing to teams they otherwise would've beaten with relative ease.. ... and we're off to a 30% FG first quarter, this doesn't bode well for the remaining 3 quarters.. ... and as the second quarter starts we might as well drop our FG% to 24%... it's like they're all drunk as fuck and are throwing up shots left and right. I'll NEVER criticize Rose for taking too many shots ever again

Before you know it they may be the same. I'm pretty sure the Wizards are making Wall hate basketball.
