He's a good player but I don't like it. It'll be less playing time overall for the up and coming guards like Shumpert and Fields. I don't even know what they're gonna do for their rotation once Davis returns.
edit: oh, he's coming off the bench. I guess it's fine if Fields is still a starter.

Knicks management solid as always. What the hell do they want with j.r???????

J.R's a good 6th man, no question about it - playerwise he's a splendid pickup for a small (in terms of depth) Knicks team. Let's just hope he stays out of trouble while he's in New York

If he can run that trainwreck of a second unit and let Lin rest, it may work. If they replace Fields with him... that's just terrible.
He averaged like 35 ppg in China, so I'm going to assume he passes less than he used to for Denver.

jeremy lin has turned this thread into ignorance. adding talent for cheap is always good....the worst possible thing is he gets benched for 2.5 million. kwame brown makes more than that.

The Knicks still look like a first round casualty even with J.R. Smith. Not sure any of you watched the Nuggets play, but unless the Knicks get the 4th or 5th seed they are toast. The top 3 defenses in the NBA: Chicago, Miami, and Philly would kill the Knicks in a 7 game series.
And look, I know the Jeremy Lin hype is fun. But he played against the worst of the worst teams in the league and a crap Lakers team - lets give him some more time to gel with the team and play that insane stretch where they may very likely go 0-10. As it is they just are so behind in the standings even with the winning streak they might end up in the 6th, or (holy crap) 7th or 8th seeds and get swept. Again.

I gotta say, I feel bad for melo. Everyone knows he's gonna be the one to get the blame if the knicks don't do as well as some of these bandwagon knicks fans think they're going to do with Lin. Hell, they might even do better than I expected, but considering the knicks are on a good win streak, once they go up against some legit teams and start losing maybe 50% of the time again they'll start putting the blame on melo.

As an added bonus the Lin thing, he's on a one year contract. He's an unrestricted free agent and a 1st year player has* Bird's Rights. I wonder how much money he's going to get? 3 Million? 5 Million? Oh god..someone's going to give him 9 million....
EDIT: Can't have bird rights*
|
Lin can't have Bird Rights though.

I think the max increase he can see from nyk is around 5 million? which will stay give him an ear to ear smile.

Lin will stay in NY, that's for sure.

Knicks own Lin's early bird rights because of the GA provision in the new CBA. Basically they can match any offer (the max able to be offered to Lin being 5 Million) without dipping into their own MLE and disregarding their salary cap. Basically he's not going anywhere. Problem is they can only keep one of Fields/Lin if both get offers from other teams.
Anyway i'll be at the game tonight.. hoping for a good game!!!

Lin would have had to have been with the Knicks for 2 years to qualify for Early Bird Rights. Maybe I'm reading some outdated stuff but can you point me to where he's eligible?

that's what I saw on the ordeal

5 million for Lin? That isn't too terrible, I suppose. I know that Bill Walker and Landry Fields are coming up too. Fields is going to get a pretty big raise, I'm sure. I know Baron Davis and Mike Bibby are off the books and so is the remaining Chauncey cash.

i'm jeremy lin's #1 fan.. i really wanna watch the live game tonight but i don't have tv, can somebody tell me how to watch it online?

If you were a real number 1 fan you would find a way to watch his game no matter what.
