go Flyers!!! that game was sick. When Crosby gets full health Pittsburgh is gonna be retarded good

Shiet Pens are already that good when Malkin is going, guy is a beast.

The bein said the flyers/pens game was pretty sick... felt like playoffs. Also Voracek played out of his skull, easily coulda had 3-4 pts instead of just the 1 assist if he got a couple bounces.

he won a cup. doing so by making some bold trades and holding on to assets properly. He's definitely improved the Leafs... but it's not like they could have gotten much worse I guess.

In 9 games before trading Hodgson, Vancouver was 7-0-2. Since then, they've gone 3-5-1. Yowza!

could argue that he hasn't really improved my leafs by that much given their position in the standings.... and he repeatedly says that he "believes in this group" ... makes you wonder, no?

Yea he's all about heart and soul yadda yadda. The Leafs should trade up to get Yakupov or Grigorenko. They have no elite talent, which Burke definitely had in Anaheim. Toronto has some decent players, but they're all in that sort of B-/C+ zone of okay 2nd-liners. Granted, Lupul and Kessel played very well this year, but I would never count on Joffrey freakin Lupul.

I would never count on Kessel either.

Burke made a few good trades and he's been bery bold. That's about it. Right now the team has zero confidence and they're trying to reinvent their playstyle, which isn't working.

There will be a ton of work to do in the offseason again.

I dont know, what were the best Burke trades? I'd say getting Boston to severely overpay for Kubina is a clear winner.

Other than that though, meh. Winning the Cup in Anaheim with a mostly pre-built team vs building a team after 3-4 years of Leaf mismanagement are two different skill sets and so far all the Leafs have managed to do was give away 1st round picks or play just bad enough that they missed out on real draft choices.

And yah, I'd say Sharks definitely screwed up the most this year. From WCF to not being in the playoffs. But I would also add LA Kings to that. You look at all these big bold moves they've made pre-season and at the deadline and the team basically lives and dies on whether Quick lets in 2 goals or more than 2.

Personally I am disappointed with the Red Wings. Ken Holland and Mike Babcock clearly did not have a post-Lidstrom plan. Unless that plan is to offer a boatload of money for the Nashville D corps and hope that some team will take Franzen off their hands for the cap space. Which is too bad because considering the way their last year ended, especially after the Canucks exposed the Sharks so thoroughly, you'd think they would have wanted a serious run at the Cup this year. Oh well. At least the legend of Ken Holland as great hockey mastermind will take a serious beating unless there is some miracle Cup run [there will not be one.]

Well, unless Luongo and Hodgson had some sort of special, talismanic relationship turning into a 4.00 GAA goalie in March does that to a team.

What do you say Canuck faithful, hope that Gillis has the balls to trade Luongo to Tampa for a boatload of picks or keep hoping he gets his shit together while Corey walks away because he wont be the number 1 goalie here with Lou around?

It's true that Burke took over when the core was fundamentally in place. Sure, he got the bro's to stay on and bring Pronger onboard. Anyway, Burke has made some good moves. I think people place way too much emphasis on the Kessel deal (ofc they overpaid), but if we look at the more recent moves with Calgary and Anahiem. Not all is lost.

Gillis doesn't have the balls probably. He didn't have the balls to continue with a skill oriented team to work in the playoffs, so he probably wont trade Luo, on the other hand you can say he had the balls to trade the fan-favourite Hodgson. Who knows. They should play Luongo more and see if he sucks more balls then decide to trade him.

Luongo playing shit, and no secondary scoring/play-making.

You mean no primary scoring, the Sedins slowing down a month early this year. Hopefully it means they pick up in the weeks ahead ._.

The Sharks top 4 has a combined 235 points this year. The rest of the teams forwards have a combined 105 points. They have no secondary scoring from there forward lines. What do you expect from them? San Jose has always been a simple team to play against. If you shut down Thorntons line you win the game.

The same team last year did a lot better. So I cant believe that this year all the GMs finally got the tape on the Sharks...

Sharks are still a good team and dangerous, I think they'll make the playoffs yet. Any team with Thornton on it has potential to do some real damage.
