Oh noes, you need to take two more steps before you can execute the same play? Terrible. But it's not the same play. The point is that the dump is from behind the red line. Teams align their neutral-zone defense in anticipation of what the puck handler does at the red line. If the puck is dump/lobbed cross-ice to a person going in with speed, they could have a clear chance at the goalie. Sometimes the pass doesn't come off and would cross the icing line. But the player with speed often has the best chance for the puck. The play presents variety in neutral zone attack, forcing the defense to pay attention to what amounts to a "hail-mary pass." If it's gone then no, I don't think I'll be crying about it, but it's just one part of the argument to keep no-touch out.

Why do Canadians pretend to be American when it comes to sporting events? No one watches football enough to justify watching the Superbowl, except for having another excuse to get drunk and go to a bar. And why do we even care about college basketball when they're a bunch of crappy amateurs playing for college teams you couldn't locate half the time?? /rant I'm pissed because when it's a good time for the leafs to fucking lose, they manage to make a surge for 9th place and a fucking shitty draft pick. At least the Pens beat those awful Rangers.

The only channels that carry hockey are nbc and it's affiliate nbcsports, formerly versus, which was just removed directtv basic package. This could have something to do with why you cannot find hockey but it is most likely unrelated to the NCAA tournament, so don't bash it.

I live in Canada. CBS and NBC have nothing to do with the NHL in Canada, because with hockey being our most popular sport, we have our own broadcasters to televise games. I don't know why none of our major broadcasting corporations picked up the games (and no, TSN2 doesn't count... I mean something that I don't have to pay an extra monthly fee for) but someone did pick up a random ATP tennis event (fair enough, at least it's professionals in their respective sport) and an amateur basketball event that no one in Canada gives a shit about. I'm guessing someone messed up or the CBC didn't lease the rights to other stations to air the games because they're failures as usual. That's the best guess I have but thank the lord CTV is hosting the Olympics this year.

this is a drastic change from the way he used to play... he basically played like Lindros after 2001. its sad to see Sid reduced to this.. but he may not be able to play any other way.

I don't get TV service right now and don't plan on getting cable/satellite due to lack of value or time to watch it. Before, I had a free trial period that came with my internet but that expired so I've been reduced to pirate streams on the internet to catch games. Is there any way I can subscribe/give monies in a legit way to get high quality broadcasts? I heard the official NHL web stream service sucks for in-market games so idunno.

All that I just said occured in a 2 minute span of play during tonights Oilers/Flames game. Refs have swallowed the whistles. I hate that

Sidney is a game changer so that result doesn't come as much of a surprise. Orcasgt24, I missed that game. Perhaps they were letting them play it out as it was close or missed calls like usual. October left something to be desired as the team wasn't clicking. Lundqvist on the other hand, has been spectacular throughout the season. Definitely should get the Vez.

CBC/CTV: Red Wings playing Canucks? No big deal, lets show curling! Pens playing Philly, who would want to watch that? Lets show Edmonton play Winnipeg! etc. etl. And with teams setting up their own dedicated tv networks its only logical that less and less hockey is going to be shown on free television. Well, 'free'.

5-2. 2 goals for Cooke. Career high of 16. More on Cooke via Drew Rosen - Matt Cooke has 31 points and 30 PIMs this season. He averaged 30 points and 112 PIMs in each of the past three seasons. 11 in a row. Held the Devils to 14 shots while getting 43 on net.
