Also, I'm just throwing this out there, but The Bulls/Heat (aka teams lacking championship experience) gutted out tough wins, while the Lakers/Spurs(and maybe Celtics) were upset by worse teams. I don't expect those teams to lose the series, but shouldn't the inexperienced teams be the ones coming out with jitters? Or is experience overrated?

-Kobe Bryant is inefficient during crunch time situations. Small sample size validation: Kobe dribbles to the basket and throws up junk twice in a row, hoping for a call. Actually he was playing smarter than usual, usually he'll shoot a contested twenty footer. Eventually he kind of gave up with the game out of reach and just let Gasol and Odom shoot the ball (and they scored on the post and two threes...) -Supposedly Chris Paul is one of the few players who plays as well or better during crunch time situations. Why? Because he'd rather make a right play (meaning passing to the open man) rather than be the man/take over/hand down man down/hundreds of other stupid cliches. Small sample size validation: well he started taking on Pau Gasol one on one. But he did also thread some passes to the basket. The Lakers notoriously have a weak bench, so the way they win is by having their main 5-6 guys build up enough of a lead that it can survive runs by the other team, then protect their lead in crunch time while adding in some inefficient crunch time scoring. In theory, if the game is tied with say 2 or 5 minutes left, the Hornets should be more likely to win. However, it's very unlikely for the game to reach that point, which is what made game 1 so interesting.

![]() Yeah, the constant switching was ridiculous, yes, Melo made a horrible decision to take that 3 when all they needed was a two, but you cannot act like that last call made no difference in the game. [edit] here, a closer look ![]() But what can I say. That's the NBA. A championship team has to be able to win despite bad calls. The Knicks couldn't do it.
