It's strange that all of the talk is focusing on this series, but really everything else is going according to plan: Nobody really expects the Spurs or Lakers to lose their series. The Knicks are being the Knicks. Orlando is perennially disappointing and Miami is predictably rolling in the early rounds.

You can't really say that things are, "going according to plan" then cite things that aren't and dismiss them as inconsequential. The only things "going according to plan" are, 1. Miami steamrolling a less athletic team; 2. The Nuggets/Thunder Series being exciting; 3. The Knicks pushing the Celtics but losing because they fail at defense. Most other "expected" things are small parts of teams like, the Spurs struggling to score without Manu, the Bulls struggling to find a second scorer, and the Lakers failing at defending point guards. Another point on the Bulls, when you watch the games objectively (as if you are imagining you have no idea this is a 1-8 matchup) you think, damn the Pacers are getting lucky, damn the Bulls are shooting poorly, damn the Bulls look sloppy, and damn the Bulls should be winning by at least fifteen. It s not like the Bulls look like a team that should be losing, they look like a team that is underperforming. I mean, look at Deng's FG % tonight, and basically every shot he took was a wide open look.

I think the Pacers will win both games in Indy as long as Collison is good to go. They missed him terribly in the second half tonight. If he would have been able to play, I think they could have won that game.

I mean, look at Deng's FG % tonight, and basically every shot he took was a wide open look. Oh, I think the outcomes of the Spurs and Lakers games weren't so surprising, if not necessarily predicted. Both are teams that are known to drop games against worse opponents. The Spurs are an older team playing a young, hungry team and the Lakers are just plain inconsistent. The reason I said it was 'going as planned' is because they are known to do this. If any other defending champ lost the first game in sloppy fashion to the 7 seed, there'd be discussion, but, hey, it's the Lakers. If the Lakers lose this second game to New Orleans or go 1-2, then I think you are going to see some alarm bells. Not much is expected from San Antonio so I don't think any result would be surprising, though they should at least make it out of this round. I agree with the rest of your paragraph. Still, I'm not really sure why the Bulls are getting so much scrutiny and maybe it is unfair to them. Depending on whether you think they are a young team breaking out, in which case they are playing as expected so far, with plenty of growing pains, or they are the best team in the NBA, in which case they are woefully underperforming. A matter of perception I suppose.

Overrated is more when your team doesn't have the fundamentals to match your flash/record, which is definitely not the bulls. I think LA fans are overconfident, if my team can't do any better than splitting their home game, I would be overanalyzing my team's flaws. Having a 1st game upset/disturbingly close game isn't a problem, doing it at home is a problem. For example, what if the Pacers play better at home and the Bulls worse away? All you need is a few points swing to end up with a tied series. D Rose had too many turnovers (6).

Phil has never lost when he wins game 1, his record otherwise is much worse.

Ref's almost handed Dallas game 1. Mark Cuban is complaining about the Ref before the game in game 2 O.o Are you serious bro? What a joke trying to put the spotlight on the Ref to win the game. He needs to be fined, just like Nate did. Even though Nate was complaining after his team lost -_-'.
