more importantly, the ball was in Wades hands in the end game.

and like I've always said their crunch time failures were way overblown. They've executed well, gotten shots off, and haven't had major meltdowns of players not knowing what to do. Miami wins, people have nothing to say, you sound surprised? :p

Do you think the Heat look better with Bosh playing more in the post?

Good game tonight. I'm kinda glad the Heat won (even as a Lakers fan), but honestly I think everyone has a tendency to make regular season games into something they're not. The Heat start off the season poorly and they're doomed. Then they beat up on sub-500 teams and they're the Heatles. Recently they lose 5 in a row and they're toast. Tonight they beat the Lakers, OMG watch out Boston/Chicago.
Same could be said for the Lakers - started off the season strong, played poorly leading into the All-Star break, and have been tearing it up since then (excluding tonight, somewhat). And my Mavericks, who have great records every year and just collapse in the playoffs.
At any rate, this has been one hell of a season. Miami's big 3, Lakers' chance for a threepeat, Blake Griffin dunking dominance, Kevin Love's rebounding antics, huge trades at the deadline. Hopefully the playoffs don't disappoint in comparison =).
And am I the only one who thinks Bosh is pretty overrated? Or maybe just a sort of 'unknown'? He put up big numbers as a number one option on a PATHETICALLY bad team in Toronto, and now is the clear-cut third option behind Wade and Lebron. Isn't it safe to say we don't really know what he's capable of on a more 'realistic' (read: traditional) team?
Edit - Mavs beating up on NY right now =P. Only first half though so I'm sure they'll bridge the gap.

Whose fault is that, the Heat haters or the Heat themselves? Between Spoelstra's comments, Wade's "us vs. the world" defensive mentality at press conferences, LBJ saying how how he's letting his teammates down, and Bosh's general bitching, the Heat have thrown more than their share of fuel into the fire.
Also, don't forget, it works both ways. EVERYTHING Miami does gets overblown. They win one game and get a "Play Like a Champion" headline on ESPN.com.

this does mean if they have the same record as LAL they get the tiebreaker, if it comes down to those two teams, right? It increases their title shot that way.
|
I really think tonight has proven that Dwade is their best option in the late-game moments. He is simply a better scorer than Lebron, though Lebron still does more for the team in general.
|
What a freaking game between the Heat and the Lakers. Wade stepped it up and managed to hold the Lakers off in the end. It's not clear sailing for the Heat of course but I can't wait for the playoffs!

the game in the UC, Chicago was very clutch down the strech. in American Airlines...kinda, but not like at UC (Noah w/ the tip back to Deng was ridiculous....not to mention the D on Bron)

Alright guys ... since everyone is talking about it. Your thoughts!

yea I'm going to vote for Dirk (other). Why isn't he on the poll?
|
Probably because he's missed so many games and people still remember what happened the last time he got MVP. :p
|
even MJ is lobbying Rose for MVP now. There's no doubt he's having an MVP-caliber year, but I remember someone brought up the possibility of a Olajuwon-destroying-Robinson-during-their-playoff- series situation (Robinson was the MVP that year) happening this year with Rose and Lebron. If they do meet in the playoffs, it's not unlikely that scenario may reoccur with Lebron going off.
|
A part of the reason he (rose) leads in votes is because he carried Chicago with boozer out early in the season and then Noah out later. That's a pretty legitimate reason I think
|
That's a legit reason for Tom Thibodeau to win Coach of the Year. Derrick Rose MVP? Nahhhhh.
|
Nobody's commented much on the veteran pickups, but I'll ignore that for now.
Mavs Lakers, I don't see the Mavs as having a worse than 50-50 shot of winning on Sunday. Recordwise they're a little bit ahead, but they would have significantly more wins if Dirk hadn't gotten injured.
The team matchups, Mavs tend to be zony, which the Lakers played poorly against last playoffs. The Mavs have some size, Jason Kidd would be a liability if he weren't playing against a fellow AARP card holder. Their bench has one stand out (Terry) just like the Lakers. They have decent backup size. Jason Kidd or barea have an advantage. Chandler vs Bynum is interesting, much different strengths. Odom is a Lakers X factor, Shawn Marion isn't consistent enough. As good as Gasol is, Dirk's just better and has always outplayed him. Kobe vs Terry (small lineup) or Marion (big lineup).
Kobe + Gasol vs Dirk + Terry, I'm not sure who comes out ahead.
Not sure how Nowitzki plays with Artest on him. You'd think his size would negate Artest, but Durant didn't do so well.
|
I think for the first 30-40 or so games the MVP was definitely dirk. He's still produced great results and no team suffered as much without their main piece as they did. Without Dirk they racked up loss after loss. Then he comes back and it's winning as usual. .

i've mentioned this to Ace, except for the other way around. hoping that LeBron gets it so D-Rose can cut out the Heat's heart in the playoffs.
