I have 3 characters to level 60 and one currently at level 53. The only class I haven't played is a Witch Doctor. I have MF'ed and have somewhat decent items. However, I just don't find this game fun at all. It's so bland that I can't take it anymore. I am liquidating all my assets and calling it quits. I'll probably reinstall in half a year and see if the state of the game has improved.
I have 2 level 60 characters with which I completed Inferno.
The game is good but it has not the addicting factor that would be required for me to continue playing.
I had a lot of fun in Nightmare and Hell but Inferno was a chore on both characters. Farming Inferno is boring and tedious and the only current appeal for me would be to sell stuff on the RMAH while its fresh. I think its boring for multiple reasons: - The difficulty and the state of melee completly hinders co-op play. I cannot play with a melee friend in A3 without wanting to cry. And if you dont farm in A3... you get shit stuff. So yeah you just play solo and it gets sad quickly. - Its a chore. In D2 if I want to MF I could do very quick runs that werent very hard and was kinda guaranteed to get an item in a hour of it. In D3, I must work my ass off to get my stacks, it takes 40min at least, and in the end I get shitty level 55 yellows. Then you realize you are just better off just exploiting the game like goblin farming and tower of the cursed farming. These are efficient but damn stupidly boring. - Legendaries are too random and weapons suck. Lack of "wow!" factor. - Items are dull. This goes hand in hand with what I said before when I said farming is unrewarding. You just want a specific serie of stats on your item and if it doesn't have all of those its a garbage item. This makes item very Binary "Good or Garbage". There needs to be more "Oh it has this affixe it can be used by X type of play" making less items useless. You also want all your items to be almost the same having 4 or 5 specific affixes that you stack. - Once you finally have your dream gear it's just bigger numbers than the next guy. You can't customize your playstyle through gear for example.
Of course..... this is my opinion. I think 1.0.3 fix some of these issue but far from everything.

yeah i also would farm a3 siegebreaker on my barb, but decided that taking ~50mins -1hr for a 5 stack kill wasn't exactly fun. i then went to farm magdha, which took me 10-12 mins to get 5 stacks and kill her, and 95% of the items i got were lv 51-59. never got 1 good thing from a2 ever.

The story? It's an epic fail, but I don't think dedicated players will care that much. I turned voice volume down to 0 so I don't hear all the shit conversation. Farming is boring? Well, any hack-and-slash or RPG requires tonnes of farming. I knew about it all along, it can get boring but getting an awesome item makes everything better. No offline mode? Well, it's a consequence of piracy. Many games are going towards the online-only direction because there's simply no way to secure your game (aka huge losses to piracy) if it's offline. Don't like AH? Better have trading occur inside the game, rather than risky offline websites. Also makes trading more accessible to the masses. I have to admit though, the interface sucks balls.

i basically kept playing because i thought it would get more fun. i thought the next class would be fun, and it turned out they weren't. there is basically 0 diversity at end-game, you have the same 4-5 spells you always use as every class and then maybe you can change 1 out for something different. but every class is forced to at least the same 4 skills in inferno. and probably 2/3 of the passives.

considering I quite skyrim after nearly ripping my hair out over the buggyness thats obviously a question of taste
Frankly I spent nearly 200 hours in DIII (not counting AH time i think, it only counts ingame), so by that standard it was definitly worth my money. Obviously everyone has different standards, but for me it was worth it.
Note though, that I definitly lost a lot of the respect I had for Blizzard concerning the quality of games they publish. This game was neither balanced to their standard, nor sufficiently tested before release.

I agree, softcore is boring because there is no penalties for anything.
Hardcore is fun because you actually have to play intelligently and safely, and blah blah online only I know.
But wasn't the whole point of a hardcore character in D2 to be online and on the ladder? Wasn't that pretty much the only thing that kept people interested? Playing online on their terrible 56k dialup connections?
I ask all of you that think the game is "boring" or anything of that nature, just roll a hardcore character and see how it goes.
What do you have to lose?

Do any of you actually enjoy Diablo III, especially with the direction it's been going?
I have 3 characters to level 60 and one currently at level 53. The only class I haven't played is a Witch Doctor. I have MF'ed and have somewhat decent items. However, I just don't find this game fun at all. It's so bland that I can't take it anymore. I am liquidating all my assets and calling it quits. I'll probably reinstall in half a year and see if the state of the game has improved. It depends on what you're looking for. Personally, I like it. A lot of the complaints are really petty imo. I have to admit though, the interface sucks balls. played d2 for 6-7 years. i guess hack and slash games aren't for me....*rollseyes* interesting. i thought it was well worth $60, and i haven't played nearly as much as you. would i have loved to have it cheaper? probably. but given the time and enjoyment i have had with this game, i could not honestly say it wasn't worth $60. well then I have to ask you, if D3 is worth $60, how much should a game like Skyrim cost? it's a completely different game - but i'm just comparing how games should be priced here... i mean, a4 didn't even have it's own town and took me <1 hr the 1st time i ever did it. well, its all personal. i dont think you are wrong in saying its not worth it. i just find it interesting that you would play it so long and say its not worth $60. i've never played skyrim. i saw day9 play it and thought it looked pretty stupid. i imagine d3 would be pretty lame if you couldnt play with friends as well. edit: for reference, going to an amusement park here in California (lets say 12 hours) would cost around $60 easily with ticket, parking, food, etc. i live in southern california....that doesn't mean anything. it cost like $15 to park when i went to the fit expo. was it worth it? parking wise? obviously not they overcharged the fuck out of it. but you had to buy it...or find some crazy place to park that wont get you a ticket.

That right there makes me want to buy an authenticator like, tomorrow just cause it means account information is slowly finding its way around, even if it is just the battletag.
Also, I certainly don't want to find myself with a million friend requests like this in the near future.

I meant to prevent hacking (lol paranoia). It obviously wont prevent requests.

new chest run i found.
fortified bunker lvl 2.
in act three just as you leave town to go kill balista and trebuchet where the barracks spawns.
the door will either spawn as the barracks, (relog) or the fortified bunker (winning). although you have to fight your way through the first floor (and sometimes half the second) there is almost ALWAYS a replenishment chest.
i say ALMOST because i have done it 7 times and there has been one there everytime, so im either lucky or its really really high percent spawn chance.

To my knowledge the "unnecessary dungeons" in almost any zone (meaning those with 2 levels) have a resplendent chest on lvl 2. They are not farmed because you have to clear the entire dungeon (or avoid the champions at the very least), so it is not effective timewise.
