It works, but the layout of the dungeon is so convoluted that it sucks finding the damn exit to lvl 2, then to find the damn chest. Underbridge was so popular because the dungeon was right next to a checkpoint and it was really small and easy to navigate (aka fixed map).

I know some games allow this (some games like The Last Remnant on PC version actually forced 16 : 9 resolution with black borders even if you were on 4:3 or 5:4 monitor). Is it possible with Diablo III?

Do any of you actually enjoy Diablo III, especially with the direction it's been going? I have 3 characters to level 60 and one currently at level 53. The only class I haven't played is a Witch Doctor. I have MF'ed and have somewhat decent items. However, I just don't find this game fun at all. It's so bland that I can't take it anymore. I am liquidating all my assets and calling it quits. I'll probably reinstall in half a year and see if the state of the game has improved. I actually enjoyed the story quite a lot, but i'm the kind of person who enjoys cliche's and tropes served in a way D3 did. I've also put some ~230 hours into the game, got all 5 classes to level 60 the legit way and beat Act 1 inferno. I hit the wall of Act 2 pretty hard, but it's no big deal, just a matter of getting a few million from Act 1 and buying better gear. I have also never farmed anything like goblins or chests or any other silly thing, just played normally. I wonder if that might be the reason why I still love this game - I've actually tried farming urns and white chests in act 4 inferno once I got my first character there, did it for about two hours and decided it was not fun so I stopped doing it. Some of my friends have found a couple of 1m+ items up there, but grinding act 1 for about as much time as they did that would probably net similar results all while being way more fun. I think all things considered Blizzard is doing a fine job of fulfilling their objective of making the game about killing elites and encouraging players to do longer runs and I think it's great direction - and it's going to be even better once the 1.0.3 ships. I'm trying to remember when was the last time I got so much value per buck from any game and I'm having a hard time coming up with any results other than SC2, TF2 and Journey. And I love the direction D3 seems to be taking, 1.0.3 can't come soon enough - I honestly don't think the items drop too rarely, I've found a fair amount of upgrades and to be honest finding something that's going to be worth >100k on AH is a great feeling too, but the thrill of finding ilvl63 is going to make acts 1 and 2 so much better - along with making a3/4 more accessible, not even taking the 'ironing the inferno out' into account. I've played D2 for a couple of years, 1-3 months at a time, loved it - and after those ~230 hours in D3 I think it's a great successor. For me the key to enjoying Diablo 3 was focusing more on ways of playing that are enjoyable than on those that would give me highest gold returns per hour. Sure it has flaws, but what doesn't? I've got an intimidating backlog of both PS3 and PC games that I own but haven't played for more than an hour or so, I'm in the beta of Dota 2 which I love and have 370 hours played according to Steam, but I can't see myself quitting Diablo 3 anytime soon. And I have faith in Blizzard that 1.0.3 isn't going to be the last nice thing to happen to the game, so I can actually see myself playing for a very, very long time.

Hardcore is fun because you actually have to play intelligently and safely, and blah blah online only I know. But wasn't the whole point of a hardcore character in D2 to be online and on the ladder? Wasn't that pretty much the only thing that kept people interested? Playing online on their terrible 56k dialup connections? I ask all of you that think the game is "boring" or anything of that nature, just roll a hardcore character and see how it goes. What do you have to lose? Your character and sanity (luckily I still have both, but damn it I almost shit myself everytime I play on my HC WD)

As of now, I hope all the gold farming / auction house using will maintain a certain balance in the amount of gold that is circulating on the servers.

Nice petty jab there with absolutely no basis on how I actually play the game. This is the exact response I would expect from battle.net forums. Because I have to agree with krohm in a way that endless grinding just to get certain numbers a bit higher isn't exactly.... thrilling I have spent 150+ hours myself. I was brickwalled by A1 but I managed to overcome it after a few days, same thing with A2, my DH and Barb can get through it (Seems impossible with a Monk lmao). A3 is just a travesty. But I just reached that point where I realized what's the point? I grind my ass off just to get items that are very slightly better in stats than what I currently have. There is nothing "new" out there. I also noticed I'm more or less just playing to farm gold. Quite frankly it's run its course. On June 14 2012 09:07 Heh_ wrote: It depends on what you're looking for. Personally, I like it. A lot of the complaints are really petty imo. The story? It's an epic fail, but I don't think dedicated players will care that much. I turned voice volume down to 0 so I don't hear all the shit conversation. Farming is boring? Well, any hack-and-slash or RPG requires tonnes of farming. I knew about it all along, it can get boring but getting an awesome item makes everything better. No offline mode? Well, it's a consequence of piracy. Many games are going towards the online-only direction because there's simply no way to secure your game (aka huge losses to piracy) if it's offline. Don't like AH? Better have trading occur inside the game, rather than risky offline websites. Also makes trading more accessible to the masses. I have to admit though, the interface sucks balls. My problems with the game are much different. I think the AH is great, I don't mind the RMAH in theory. No offline mode? Who cares lmao. I didn't play D2 offline, ever. The story was atrocious but I don't play Diablo games for story. Even though D2 had a much better story. My issues are with the itemization mainly. How utterly stupid Inferno is (Which is being worked on). The difficulty of inferno isn't fun, it's not challenging, and it's just downright annoying at times. Diablo III is more gear > skill orientated than Diablo II was. How long it takes for them to hotfix certain exploits. When I played for a week I convinced one of my friends to pick up the game. He got his DH to 60 in 10 hours the first day he played. I was just getting my monk to 60 literally 30 minutes before he got to 60. Not to mention the chest in A2 inferno people exploited the shit out of essentially getting a massive upperhand on the economy. The level cap being 60 is another big one for me. Even though it wasn't really the main objective in D2 to reach level 99, it was always a little something to work towards. Highest I got was level 96 on a Sorc. But it was nice. Seeing a level 99 was usually rare and it was impressive at times. Now everyone and their dog is level 60. I have played Diablo II & LoD for a good 9 years. Not solid but I'd usually play for half a year off and on every year. I know the nature of ARPGs. Diablo II was a great game and I had so much fun playing it. Diablo III just doesn't have that magic to it. I really tried to like Diablo III.

Diablo III is more gear > skill orientated than Diablo II was. Take this crap to the official Diablo 3 boards. I'm clearing act 3 inferno on my Barbarian, and doing it with much less gear than most people are. Also, DIablo 2 was one of the easiest games I've ever played. Unless you consider spamming the potion button while using broken builds "skill". That's not to say it wasn't fun, but claiming it required skill is insane. I doubt this will ever happen or at least I hope not. If you flood the D3 market with too much gold... well I don't want to see what'll come out of it. They've already confirmed you'll be able to sell gold on the RMAH once commodities trading goes live on the RMAH.

Because it took skill to use the "disconnect bot" to save your ass when your hp dropped below a certain %. To be objective and not blinded by nostalgia, D3 is superior to D2 in many ways. The things that's better in D2 are pretty minor ones. Let me clarify something about unique items in D2: In vanilla D2, unique items were only restricted to 1st tier (no exceptional or elite uniques existed). When LoD (1.07) came out, all those crazy uniques were invented, and then they were buffed in 1.09 to crazy levels. Example: I found a "suicide branch" unique wand in 1.07. It was crap to my necromancer because it didn't have +skills. Now come 1.09, they added +1 to all skills. Great. Glad to have found a worthless wand in 1.07.

Inferno isn't too hard that's the thing. See a pack of Elites with an annoying combination of affixes. You either.. A - Run past them B - Die a handful of times until you eventually beat them through a war of attrition. C - Kite, kite, kite, kite, and kite. (Sometimes mixed with solution B) That's not hard. It's annoying. It still amazes me that people think that's good game design. Boss fights are actually a lot better in terms of design.

If this is a situation you are encountering a lot, you're either undergeared for the content you're doing, or playing a pure glass cannon build. I've been slowly working my way through Inferno, and when this happens to me, I turn around, farm more, get better gear, and come back and do the content smoothly. Sometimes I get affixes that are "dumb" (Invulnerable Minions, Molten, Fire Chains, Teleport on a ranged mob playing my Barbarian), but it's always manageable with good positioning and proper use of cooldowns. As far as bosses being "better design", I will have to disagree. Every boss is laughably easy because all of the damage is very easy to avoid as long as you have half decent reaction time and mouse accuracy.
