crazy , they got booed and they earned it..... a god damn reskin mobile game..... holy molly i didnt see that coming as the only thing they showed in regards to D3. They also reuploaded their trailer after it reached 126K dislikes .... and they delete all the comments as well..... and to top it off all the media got top dollars to put out the fire .... 0 integrity , i think even Kripp made a twit that its an amazing mobile game. They really sold their soul.............

They should have known that anything that wasn't Diablo 4 would be rejected and ripped to pieces. I mean there's obviously another Diablo project in the making, they even said so on the panel. But sadly people tend to get their knickers in a twist about anything, that doesn't go their way.

But sadly people tend to get their knickers in a twist about anything, that doesn't go their way. But (almost) none of the actual Diablo players were waiting for a reskinned Diablo 3 on their phone. I agree, this was a major misreading of how their fanbase would react by Blizzard. "You all got phones right?" Yes, we do. But we don't want to play Diablo on your phone you ****

This is a cashgrab for the chinese market, not a real Blizzard game for old fans and BlizzCon attendees.

That's what makes me wonder too. We knew that blizz is developing a diablo game, we knew they were planning a reveal of a mobile game, I'm not shocked blizz uses probably their second largest LP to try to push into the mobile market. But to my surprise they seem to have expected to carry over a large portion of their diablo gamers to this mobile game and didn't even have a cookie for the diablo gamers ready. They are caught completely unaware that the hardcore diablo community like any other hardcore pc community shuns smartphone games and was instead waiting for new pc game content. Their PR department seems to be completely out of touch. Either that or they planned to reveal their diablo pc game and then put their mobile game segment after that, but decided last minute that their pc game wasn't far enough and the mobile game too close to release to wait a bit. somewhat relevant: ![]() diablo immortal booths.

The rule of thumb is that you never, ever announce mobile anything at a major event, especially as your headliner. Take a look at Hearthstone's rise in popularity. The Hearthstone team was very small, very reserved and cautious in their approach, knowing full well that the Blizzard community at large may not accept the game. When it did turn out to be popular, and everyone clamored for Blizzard to port it to mobile, that was worth announcing at a Blizzcon opening ceremony, and they only did that after they announced new expansion content! Now take a look at Command and Conquer Rivals which was announced at E3 as part of EA's big press conference. There are many jokes about the hubris of EA, but man was that ever exemplified in that announcement! Rivals apparently is actually a pretty decent mobile RTS, but that's not the point! The point is that's not what people are going to see when they attend the press conference of a multibillion-dollar game studio. Just let it get featuring on the Apple/Google stores and buy ads like every other company to support its growth. Players interested in mobile gaming will inevitably go to the app stores and learn about games from a major studio in some manner, it's inevitable. But at a major venue where people are expecting high-budget games to blow them away? Not the time or place to essentially pull the rug out from under them with a mobile announcement. And I say this as someone who has worked in the mobile game industry for 13 years.

It means that the PC gamers knew 'their' game was coming and didn't generate the backlash they would have gotten if they announced a Fallout mobile game without a PC game also being known to be worked on. Can you imagine if they announced they were working on Diablo 4, showed a teaser trialer or something and then announced Immortal as a game to sweeten the community while they wait for D4?

And I say this as someone who has worked in the mobile game industry for 13 years. The new diablo mobile game features a dramatic exodus from the blizzcon followed by a mob of angry fans moving away from blizzard titles! Blizzard setting new standards for mixing RL and their virtual worlds with their new Agreed with everything you said. I could still see them try what Gorsameth proposed though and while people still would have been salty about it, the backlash would have been way less and the initial exposure would have likely still helped the game.
