In a word, yes - but a few things are different. With the new cube recipe - Caldesann's Despair - the % of stats from Paragon levels will be lower. This new cube recipe will allow us to use high level gems to add stats to every ancient item at a rate of 5 stat points/gem level. Also, the experience rewarded for killing mobs at level 70 (not applicable for normal leveling, obviously) has been increased, so you should be able to reach a higher level and closer to the 16h/day top players if you play constantly during the season. Except they gain more xp aswell and will therefor still be higher level by a fair margin. They have changed exp gear to give less and changed health so that its a bigger difference the more people are in the group. This will make it easier to paragon farm solo. But 16h a day farmers will obviously still have a much higher level then those that play abit after work with out friends Does that mean that there is now diminishing rewards from playing multi with pickups? (Or 'less advantages') its less advantages, it probably still better to play with 4 strangers then solo but now you can do it

I'm currently paragon 19 on my HC Monk and I feel like I am leveling a lot slower than you guys. I just do quests and then open rifts, but I am not doing a hundred levels a day (obviously) like some of you people. What am I missing? I feel like I must be playing fundamentally incorrectly.

Also heavily depends on what difficulty you're playing on. Right after season starts people can get to T1+ with decent lvl 70 gear and the properly optimized builds. Sitting on anything below that for a while to get some gear will really slow your paragon down. But also on HC you can't just ramp up the difficulty and risk dying.
For more casual players it isn't really the most important end-all-be-all thing to worry about. Going out of your way to farm paragon with subpar gear (with +exp, etc), a build you don't like, or running with pubs you don't know, is probably not worth it over just enjoying yourself however you prefer.
But that's my bias, since I fall into that group lol

Bounties - gives decent XP, but also mats which you'll need to for the cube (and later rerollilng legendaries) plus you'll get started on legendaries for forgotten souls (more so than going through campaign anyways).
I got really lucky and crafted a pair of ancient Hallowed Defenders on my Season 4 Monk within 10 tries. Results are atypical, but needless to say that catapulted me quite a bit so if you feel like gambling you can do that.
I also crafted a Sage's Set to help with Death's Breath farming, while my friend did a Cain's set to help with Xp grinding. With the added logic that Legendaries > Rares.
But I don't think that's a great use of your mats early on and probably won't do that next season (lvl 70 rares are basically free to craft and are close enough in power imo).
Plus if you play seasons you'll get free set items via Season Journeys making craftable gear even less necessary.

I think someone made one of these last season and I enjoyed it so I'll throw one up for this season

I'm pretty excited because this is the first season since they've introduced them that I have paid almost no attention to beforehand. No PTR play, no patch note or change tracking. The only things I know are the massacre bonus stuff and the "set dungeons" (and even those I only know by name/concept, no idea what purpose they serve or what to expect). Will be interesting to go in relatively unprepared for once.

Might answer the first poll after starting. Have absolutely no idea right now : D Augmenting items could mean that I avoid playing more than 1 char. I could see myself going Wizard later on for some DMO but I won't level one to start with as other classes get the set I'm interested in as a gift.
Watched some Invoker gameplay earlier and it seems to be extremely chill. Think my gf would enjoy if I chose something that allowed me to stand still and hold a mouse button.

Does that set gift only work once? i.e. only the first character of the season?

You can only open it once but you aren't forced to use it on the first character. You get the gift and whichever char you open it on, you'll get the setitems. Getting three gifts you're free to open these on different chars to get a 2-set bonus on three different chars.

Firebird's is probably a fine start for wizard, which tends to be my preferred, but getting the free Invoker set on sader would be nice to start with since I was planning on trying that out regardless

Just searched and it seems you can only use it for one class so the last part of what I said does not apply. One free 6-piece set for whatever class you chose.

After all the griefing methods in D2, I was worried there was similar bullshit in D3. Should I be running groups?

Bounties. I get the shards or whatever needed to open a rift and then run that.

I might mess around with my Roland's Blessed Shield crusader just for kicks, but I will probably stick to mostly diablo 2 until season 6. This is the sort of game I play in bursts.

A couple seasons ago my friend insisted on playing thorns on his sader it was really silly. Totally impractical for anything like serious pushing, but when you're just playing with friends and more worried about dicking around and slaughtering hordes of monsters with friends it wasn't that bad.

Well the changes to the Invoker set make it viable for saders now. After years of silly uselessly amusing thorns builds it finally works! Apparently. I'll take everyone's word for it since there seems to be a lot of hype around the set from people testing it. That's why I'll probably roll it first to try it myself. Consensus seems to be sader getting Invoker as the free 6p set at beginning of the season is the most beneficial compared to other classes.

I don't recall having a problem with any griefer in D3. PUGs are full of leeches and afk people, however. Blizzard responded by overtuning group bonuses to account for all the freeloaders and afkers and just general annoyances associated with PUGs, something they are scaling back this patch.
I could be wrong, but I thought the group bonuses require you to be a certain distance from groupmates as well.

I'm honestly pretty excited to play with Roland's again this season. I love Crusader, but the Blessed Hammer build really killed the fun for me.
