Finally got around to playing with the wife on ps3. Funny that we've been so busy that it's taken us a year to sit down and play! We're enjoying it now though. I like spamming buttons on the controller more than the clicking I did back in 1 and 2. Obviously some things are simplified but it's working well.

Just got the game for Christmas, then bought myself RoS at Gamestop for 15 bucks.
Only my first toon so far, I can easily do T1 on my DH, but at this point, I feel stuck with my gear. Not sure if I should just keep doing bounties (which at this point, only give me mats for gear that I don't need anymore), or just keep being babysat in T6 runs, and hope for something good to pop up.
Basically, just learning game atm, until new season starts.
Edit; Also, are items/gears ins stahes tradeable between SC and HC characters I own? Or HC can only trade with HC and SC with SC?

SC only shares with SC, HC only shares with HC, same goes for season and nonseason

If your already doing T1 then I would advise rifts for gear instead of bounties. Do some rifts spend some bloodshards and start building a set, which will boast your Torment level by several steps. After that your stuck grinding ancient items and after that perfect rolled ancients and then you 'finish' the game.

Is 65+ grifts the new baseline for player that are playing 5h weekly? I never surpass lvl55 because I never found any ancient 2H barbar related weapon, never. Nonseason.
|
Anybody else looking forward to the new season? Only played the first two months of Season 4 but I love a new start. Those first few days in which you look for that first goblin portal and jump through greater rifts, celebrate finding the right item even if it has bad stats at first are some of the best gaming time I have.
Just heard about the possibly new best leveling method using massacre streaks instead of the highest possible difficulty. Pretty nice to change things up even if we're done after a few hours.
Not sure which class to play this time around. I always wanted a build that was a bit better at killing Rift Guardians which makes the new shadow set very tempting but Thorns are possibly my favourite mechanic in Diablo and seeing that I prefer a strong defense to flashy offense Crusader again is tempting. Had fun with him this season and through the gifts I won't need to play hammers to start with which is a big plus. The LON-Bombardement looks really entertaining aswell but there's is not the slightest possibility of me putting together an all ancient setup.

I will be playing the new season. I haven't played since RoS release.

So did they move away from the 'mash 3 buttons until everything dies' mindset with this patch, or is it even worse now
|
is there a legitimate solution to the button mashing method? the only way i could think of would be a complete overhaul of all classes and skills, giving them all insane movespeed or short distance blinks and youd have to actually dodge shit properly whilst landing your attacks in between. basically not diablo

Yes it is, more synergy between skills. Blizzard dont like that though, they like this button mashing bullshit.

But even then wouldn't you need atleast one skill that you are mashing all the time as that is what Diablo is about? Looking at it from a broader perspective I totally agree by the way. Played mostly Hammersader and Hellfire-WD last season and both mainly mash their six skills so you attack all the time and everything else is instantly used when it comes off CD. Convention of Elements works against that as you might want to wait to use a skill during it's respective phase but then there is the Zodiac Ring that eliminates most cooldowns and creates a horrible experience especially when paired with a build that requires hexing pants and constant movement.
From a gameplay perspective I think I found Uilianas (monk set) to have the best feeling as with the right gear and enough cooldown reduction there was a perfect cycle between defensive cooldowns and seven sided kick. Mage's DMO set felt good aswell and for some easy farming Whirlwind barb is playable with one skill perma-clicked.

For leaderboards (farming)Paragon is still the most important thing this season right?

With the new cube recipe - Caldesann's Despair - the % of stats from Paragon levels will be lower. This new cube recipe will allow us to use high level gems to add stats to every ancient item at a rate of 5 stat points/gem level. Also, the experience rewarded for killing mobs at level 70 (not applicable for normal leveling, obviously) has been increased, so you should be able to reach a higher level and closer to the 16h/day top players if you play constantly during the season.

They have changed exp gear to give less and changed health so that its a bigger difference the more people are in the group. This will make it easier to paragon farm solo. But 16h a day farmers will obviously still have a much higher level then those that play abit after work with out friends

Does that mean that there is now diminishing rewards from playing multi with pickups? (Or 'less advantages')

Of course they will be higher paragon level but the difference will be smaller than before, because xp/level increases with each level. Just some random number as an example: in season 4 you would be paragon level 1000 compared to their level 2000. in season 5 you could be paragon level 2000 compared to their level 2700. Yes, there will always be a difference, but this season it will be smaller and with the added stats from the new cube recipe, the % of paragon stats will further reduced. You could have close to 5000 more main stat from the new cube augment towards the season end. So let's say you had before patch 2.4: 10000 main stats from gear (more usually, this is just an example) and 5000 from 1000 paragon level. Now, in patch 2.4 you can have 10000 from gear, 5000 from 1000 paragon and 5000 from cube recipe - so obviously paragon will have less of an impact. On the other hand, players who can dedicate 12+ hours / day for multiple months, should be rewarded, so a difference should always exist, not to mention that the chances to find better items also increase with playtime.
This current system is not perfect for people playing a couple of hours/day and mostly solo (like me) but it's less bad than before.

what is the logic at Caldesan despair? Less stash space problems because you can solve all nonancient items? empowered grifts only useful when you have to leveling a gem (lvl 0 to ~60) I think.
