There is no way to punish the AI for stealing tech without declaring war or making them angry without an effect. Until now I wasn't able to steal a tech because I was always too far ahead to steal and all the other effects of Espionage are rather useless imo. Well knowing what they're building/who they are dowing is quite good. It's true you can't really punish the AI besides trying to kill their spies. How does Espionage look in MP? It's only stealing techs, right?

Hexagons, 1UnitPerTile: This obviously increased the amount of tactics possible, it also allows for the existence of "good defensive spots" and such wider than 1 hex/square, with was honestly impossible in civ4. When placing cities their defensivability can/has to be considered (didn't make much of a difference in civ4, did it?) Yes, AI is a bit retarded with 1UPT, yet I do find it smarter than it's stack of doom play in civ4. They don't straight up suicide their army as fast as possible. Lack of technology trading, replaced by research agreements: Some people seem to dislike it, I don't know why. Now I can actually tech what I want, instead of beelining liberalism in civ4 (or doing some retarded double-bulb slingshot for engeneering or guilds or something like that, all of these were kind of weird though). Yes, you could have turned tech trading off, but it was like the only point of civ4 diplomacy so meh Fragile diplomacy: Stuff gets to hit fan fast and hard. You can't rely on having +8 modifier which just barely puts you over any possibility of DoW, it's a bit more dangerous than that. Not just that, but denouncing/frendship declarations, penalties for DoWing on your friends, city states, and milion bilion other stuffs make it much more dynamic. You can't base an 5K year alliance on the +4 permanent modifier you got from selling them aesthetics for sailing *rolleyes* That's not to say that war cant be avoided, just won a diplo game on immortal difficulty without any wars, except some strange DoWs 3 turns before the end because for some reason everyone went kind of apeshit lol This kind of religion is one of the best things that happened to civ series, I dont think I gotta write more on it because everyone loves it. Espionage is good, they do have frigging good uses even if you are 100% ahead on tech, I'd rather have a CS ally than an additional tech quite often. And stuff like that. I really really really like this game.

About to play tomorrow at 4 with like Valentir, his friends and my friends (5+ people), map is either pangea or shuffle and I'm looking to be conservative/defensive, but have some good production and I won't be racing for wonders because the chances I'll get them is fucking small t_____t I played today with some friends and I played Rome and I was on 6 cities, but they produced so slowly even though I got the religions to boost production + tradition upgrades + liberty upgrades + my capital had everything. Thankfully, they were engaging in war, so when we go back to it on Thursday, I'll have all the time in the world to fully establish my cities and just pump out a massive army.

Try Boudicca, you can get a really early lead if you spawn with one (or even better, 3) forests close to your cap as you can get out an early Pantheon (as early as turn 5) and start working towards your religion. Use that to pick up defensive minded Religious policies as well as hitting the Honour tree and you should be good to get your tech rolling. Ethiopia is also good for the combat bonus when you have fewer cities than an opponent.

Domination - Just be aggressive, I think this is pretty straight forward. Time - Is this the highest score wins? Science - Lots of cities too boost educations right? Culture - Less cities but more wonders building? Diplomatic - Just be rich to be good terms with lots of cities states? This is what I gathered so far, and maybe I'm wrong, what would be the best way for all those above scenario?

You basically got it right; there are too many nuances to go into the exact strategies here, and nobody's actually optimized science/culture wins yet. Diplomacy used to be science+gold and culture used to be basically the same as science, but G+K changed a lot. Most people are still figuring things out. For science, there are two main roads you can take: One is to grow a few cities extremely tall extremely quickly using Tradition and running a ton of specialists. This is a peaceful strat. The other is to take over a couple of civs, use their puppet cities for your science output, and then play defensively with your massive tech boost. For culture, it's pretty straightforward solitaire city-building style. Make 1-3 cities, be nice to people, defend yourself, spread some religion or let it be spread to you, and hit Next Turn a lot. Diplomacy I don't really know. Gold is obviously important but so are quests, so probably you'll want to focus on making Great People since the CSes ask for those a lot. Also other civs can vote for you, so you'll want to be on good terms with them, and quickly denounce anyone who threatens you.
