Use that to pick up defensive minded Religious policies as well as hitting the Honour tree and you should be good to get your tech rolling. Ethiopia is also good for the combat bonus when you have fewer cities than an opponent.
Who's Boudica?

Celts, they get 1 Faith for having an untouched forest next to a city and 2 faith for having 3 forests. Jungles don't count and the bonus is lost when you upgrade the forests (not including roads)
If your city spawns with three forests next to it, you'll have a Pantheon by turn 5, pretty damn strong

I was actually thinking of Ethiopia. Most my friends will probably ignore the 20% combat bonus on friendly grounds and with two cities, I can rush wonders and culture comfortably getting the Great Wall and the Drill Bonus too.
I can pick up the faith bonuses of faster food growth + border expansion to really hasten the speed of my cities size.

Great wall and 2 cities wonder spam won't really save you if your friends are warmongers

Pretty sure you're just greedy lol

Actually it was patched a couple of days before to make it skippable but yer, you can actually skip it entirely via menu check box now

Been playing it the last few days. Started on normal, went to King, went Emperor and now I'm just doing Immortal (2nd hardest right?)
Like, it is kinda easy. I have a general idea about what I'm doing, don't really have any idea about specialised cities, I just make shit and fend off waves of assholes.
Fuckin' Mongolians come rampaging into Dublin, just as they start sieging mother fuckin' Napoleon comes at Dublin too. Two big ass armies and I actually managed to fend it off, only losing Dublin at the very end and then recaptured it pronto. Then the mother fuckin' Chinese come at me with the Mongolians again. Bust their asses thanks to the sick Celt infantry and bowmen. Was a bit frustrating though being in perpetual war. Did they constantly think I was a pussy or something because no one else was giving the other races any shit. Can you actually diplomacy a bit on the higher difficulties?
Only just started using catapults too, they're pretty good. Saves me making like 4 archers when I go sieging.
COME AT ME BROS

Question: I started two games so far. In one of the games, in each city I could select what tiles my population should work on. In the second game I'm playing the French (Napoleon) and I can't. Is that some kind of special ability of some factions or did I probably turn something off by accident?

You're talking about your own cities, right? Not puppet cities that you took over from other players? If so, it's probably a bug...click the city and click Citizen Management, that's how you set the tiles.
