Unless you manage to rush GL, then you have a chance... but it's REALLY hard to get GL on deity, even as Ramses :p

I imagine that's how serial killers are born: "Sweet! My petra will be complete in 1 turn and my city will be one the best in game!" *hits next turn* Petra has been completed by a civilization far away! *punches the nearest small animals*

You have to sell out so hard to get Petra that if you miss it, you're kinda screwed on the higher difficulties. EDIT: My favorite near miss of Petra was watching the Huns build it one turn before I did. I looked at their capital, and the fuckers had ONE desert tile. ONE!

Great artists, musicians and writers work like other great people, you should make them make works of art untill modern era ca. then do golden age and culture bomb etc. Even if you aren't going for culture victory you should still try to get the guilds at least for some minor tourism to protect you from other ideologies.

Or am I wrong? culture defends you against being influenced by the other ai but i think tourism is what defends you against ideology. i wouldnt bother with great musicians until the modern age -- all great workers acts cap at the moment of creation (or at least i know for sure musicians are that) so if you get a bunch of early era musicians their culture bomb value will be like 200-300, meaningless by the time you actually want to use them in the industrialish and onward era. (unless, has anyone tried an early culture rush? does it ever work? hard to imagine how it would, youd have to have crazy tourism early...maybe as byzantium that piety thing that gives you +2 tourism, and then your 3 things are all faith buildings and you rush towards artist guilds quickly? seems super wonky). Makes much more sense to save them, as late as even the internet perhaps and then faith buy them and spawn the so you can get 5000-6000 culture attacks per musician. Unless there is some culture run away you should be able to submit them Anyways, onto other things. How do you guys do a domination victory by reneisance? I've been trying it with zulus but after you take out a civ or two everyone hates you, so no more trades and even though the imp is truly truly glorious and the zulu experience bonus + honor experience bonus means you have a bunch of super upgraded xbowmen and impi running around eventually someone gets to industrial way ahead of you and its gg out.
