I always knew that civs had certain built-in start biases for terrain types (jungle, desert, coastal, etc). However, what I am talking about here is that the Americans seem to get a lot of starts with high food and high production tiles. I'm seeing a lot of wheat and hills with my American starts. However, when I play someone like the Arabs, I hardly see any hills or any food bonuses outside of a lone cow. What I am wondering is whether the devs manipulated the quality of starts for certain civs that are perceived as having weaker UAs/UUs than the others. Frankly, having a good, high food and high production capital site with potentially one good second city site is more important for winning than anything else. For example, in my current American game, I have a coastal capital on a river that has 2 wheat, 2 salt, 1 fish, 1 horses, and a bunch of hills. My second city is arguably more ridiculous. It has 2 wheat, 4 fish, 3 salt, 1 cow, a bunch of hills, and is also a coastal start. It's pretty hard to lose with two cities like those. Just as a side note, I settled my third city next to Kilimanjaro and am cranking out high-altitude trained minuteman for some autocratic shenanigans.

Hmm, this would be interesting, and help to make attacking cities more viable with melee armies. Currently if you don't bring archers you might as well go home.

So I was forced into conquering everybody, but man the world congress made it hard. The embargoed me, citystates so I couldn't really the marokko-ultimate. But the fun thing is. I won a Dimplomatic victory, thanks to all the citystates. :D I started the game yesterday and played 9hrs straight on the first session. Its crazy how addicting this game is.

Congrats and not wanting to diminish your game but this is a prime example of why I will probably deactivate Diplo Victory for now until fixed I feel its often an easy way out fr the player or a pain in the ass when some AI is close to it before any other possible victories.

I think I'll follow your lead my next game. I agree entirely.

It is kinda true what xDaunt said, it will make some AI disregard city states, those who try to go for diplomatic victory will of course not try that and because of that not try to get a lot of CS friends. But others like Siam, Alex and Austria will still take CS allies because that is part of their personality

Do you know how to resolve this annoying bug? I red that many people had the problem for example with city names, but in my case it's just on tourism and trade stuff ![]()
