She had a tough path today, first Taeja then Parting, so no surprises. Taeja and Parting would be a tough path in 2014, but both of them have been retired/semi-retired for a while. I'd expect someone like Scarlett who intends on at least qualifying for GSL to be able to beat at least Taeja. Losing that match doesn't bode well for her chances this year.

Taeja is scary even on little practice, he kicked some butt at HSC not too long ago. I would honestly pin Parting as the easier one.
But I do agree that her recent results don't bode well, but that can always turn around.

I couldn't agree more. They would have been crushed by last year's Scarlett. But right now, it didn't feel she has the motivation to keep a gameplay level at the height of her rank. If she wants to continue SC2 and with that level, she will become a "random". Maybe she doesn't care, we all know that SC2 is near of the end on progaming scene. She might have decided to keep the end quietly, preparing for a transition elsewhere. I only wish I'm wrong about all of that, but for now, she does not make me dream.

Well, Parting qualified for GSL last season iirc, and Taeja did great in the only serious tournament post-patch. So they definitely do not have "semipro" level. So at their current form, I think both of them are favoured vs her. In fact right now and judging from her last results, I wouldn't expect her to qualify for GSL, though I would love to be wrong (and i will cheer for her).
The thing is I think you guys overestimate her level last year and, because of that, expect too much this one.
She had a superb week winning IEM and reaching GSL Ro8 (good WESG also), but apart from that you should check her results during all year in premier events: Katowice (top 28), other seasons of GSLs (Ro32 and not qualified), WCS stops (3rd Group Stage, top16, top16 and top8), GSLvsW, etc.) and realize she was/is far from the top foreigners.

I would rank her at the bottom 100 top professionals at this point but she has the skill to get much higher but either way ill always cheer for her. and dream of a dota comeback

wtf? 2018 was the best year of SC2 ever in its history, best viewership and highest price pools. what are you talking about. as a pro you earn more at tournaments than ever before.
i am kinda sick of all these assumptions, we will see what she will do, if she wants to continue sc2 she will train more, if she doesnt want anymore, she would have already quit.
i bet staying in korea isnt cheap, also flying around isnt cheap and stressfull. some theories here kinda piss me off. yes she is losing lately more than we would like to see, but she also had her downs in the past and she also have her ups again. the year just started, take it easy. what kind of fan are you to create such a pressure with your subtle expectations.
dont make assumptions at all. if she retires, or change the game, we will read about it anyway.

since 2013? just got an IEM champ title last year, in a tournament where she beat serral too in the year when he was(is) at his best form, also won a lot of stuff major tournaments 2016. just what you are saying is not right. just look at her liquipedia page. she has her ups and downs. but getting better and higher in the rank.
btw thank you blunderfulguy, for linking the NEXT vods, if it was you. and also overall maintaining the fan club. without it, i would miss a lot of stuff she is playing.

Speaking of NeXT vods, their site finally worked for me and I got all of them linked on the op. All of 'em are here, but you might have to tell the player to restart/"replay" the video and wait for everything to load (takes at least a minute for me).
Also, I just now updated the date for GSL quals to match the new time (now Jan 25-26).

He said he won't be in Korea so no cast this time.

There arent 5 foreigners stronger than Scarlett. Serral neeb special reynor. But she can beat all of them too and probably will at some point this year.

It depends on what we are talking about. Being most succesful (higher earnings and tournaments wins during a career) doesn't equal being stronger in this moment. Plus we must not compare "peak performances", but "average performance". Imo she has the third highest peak skill behind Serral and Neeb, but the vast majority of time she won't be even close to that.
Serral, Neeb, Special, Reynor, Showtime, uThermal, Heromarine, Elazer and Lambo are likely to make a better run than her in a ramdom tournament right now. Add another 20+ koreans to that if you want to talk about both circuits.

That's WAY too much I think. She is not unbeatable at her peak, neither is she worse than 60-75 pros... Serral was unbeatable last year, maybe Maru at GSL. I would say she barely makes it into the top30, but of course she's way better than top70 players.
And yes, let's hope she tries GSL qualifiers and makes it \o/

Terve! Just finished catching up with the things in here. First off: Thank you Blunderful, I don't know how you manage to gt all the info about Scarlett's tournaments, but I wouldn't know 1/3 of them if you wouldn't list them all here. As for the performance thing: I thought for a long time that Scarlett can do better then she usually does, but I don't care about results since I'd rather see a close series that she loses then a one sided one she wins. Also because of the ups and downs she has you never quite know what you can expect from her. Sometimes she (almost) beats Serral, sometimes she loses to Stephano. As long as I am as entertained by her tournament games / streams / memes I'll be a fan. Personally I hope that - should her SC2 day ever end - she considers part / full time streaming as long as there's a fanbase to stream to. Have a nice day Scarlett and Fans. Sayonara! Shadow

so last year she met serral very early in wcs bo8 or so and sadly missed getting a higher placement and therefore more points for blizzcon, but she totally deserverd to be there, more than heromarine, thats for sure. he is not a match against her at all, as we could see in the "who is the true starcraft master" by pig. do you guys think the new wcs winter method is benefiting her in that regard? even if she meets again the few top players who can beat her, that she could make to a higher placement or doesnt make it any different?
