Stay classy, American viewership. I completely disagree, TBBT is an amazing show, and every week it delivers, arrested Development was good, but the TBBT is better.

Complete and utter nonsense. Big Bang Theory is just a mediocre sitcom dressed with the tinsel of fake nerd-dom. Arrested Development was the smartest comedy of all time.

Watched it once, when it was over I was standing in front of my tv, brandishing a large kitchen knife as well as my neighbours entrails.
Is this normal?

The show should be called "Sheldon".

I personally love the big bang theory. I don't watch much tv, but it is easily my favorite tv show on right now. Probably partially because I can relate to parts of it, being a nerd myself...
|
The show has some reasonably funny moments but they are few and far between. Most of the time it's just as brain dead as Two and a Half Men and the rest of those rubbish shows most of the time. I'll watch it if friends are but I usually get bored and do something else half way through. I'd never voluntarily watch it.
The best "nerd" comedy is the IT Crowd.

I'm not a fan of that sentiment. For example:
The Office is a smarter comedy than Two and a Half Men. This is objectively true as far as I am concerned. I do not believe this is hearsay, nor a mere matter of consensus. If everyone else in the world thought that Two and a Half Men was the 'better' comedy they would all be wrong.
Catcher in the Rye is a better novel than Twilight even though one's preference for either is a matter of 'opinion'.

I just love it, i watched the first 3 seasons i think in like 2-3 days, god damn i was addicted, now they release like once a week and it's driving me crazy lol

I know I should like big bag, but I don't, and I don't know why. It's a clever concept, well written with very likeable characters, it even caters to my science nerd side, but I just feel indifference when I watch it. All my friends who know next to nothing about science love it though, strange since they miss half the jokes.

I just want to mention that I find it funny that Leonard and Sheldon's bookshelf has Norton Antivirus. I thought geniuses didn't need antivirus software (nor use Windows, for that matter! Sheldon mentioned on numerous occasions of his usage of Linux-based operating systems).
Go go cryptic advertisements!

Arrested Development is one of my all time favorites as well. I was really sad when AD got cancelled, but in the end the viewers decide. Just proves that most viewers are dumbasses
Nevertheless I do also like TBBT, it's not on a level with AD but neither is it bad. Sheldon alone is worth watching in my opinion.

It's so sad that two best shows of all time both got canceled - Arrested Development and Firefly. I miss those series so much:|
TBBT is mediocre at best, it started really strong but nowdays I rarely find them funny. And the character of Amy Sarah Fowler (or whatever her name is) is the least funny character ever in any sitcom so far.
|
Firefly was pretty good, I must admit.
As for TBBT, another awesome show and does a really good job on a lot of the content and jokes. A lot of the general population might not get some of the more subtle jokes, but it's awesome for those of us who have experience with what their characters are involved in.

I have a lot of crap on my shelf that I'm not using. You don't?

Doing theoretical physics, this show makes me cringe, worse than entourage and himym without barney and drama in it put together imo, shows like firefly and arrested development are on a different level to it also
|
The laugh track makes most jokes funny IMO.

Yeah. You may want to look up the meaning of the word "objective". I would be interesting in your normative framework that allowed you to come to this conclusion. Unless you provide one that works outside your own little world, I will just assume there is yet another child left behind.

I completely disagree, TBBT is an amazing show, and every week it delivers, arrested Development was good, but the TBBT is better.
Are you kidding? Arrested development was so brilliant. It was so damn good that its comedy could not be fully realized by people, sadly this is why the show died. TBBT is just another CBS sit com like HIMYM and 2 and a half men. It has a little premise to hook you into the show and then you are stuck watching a drama about characters and not the premise of the show.
Also the nerdyness of TBBT felt really phony to me. Every time the nerd things they did felt contrived. I don't know I cant quote anything specific because I don't have time to wade through like probably 40 hours of TV watching. Most of us here grew up as nerds or are still nerds to this day and I cant say I ever identified with these guys.
Further more the one guy (Sheldon I think) dominates the show and thats bullshit. He's clearly the best actor and hence gets the best lines but that makes for a really polarized show.
