As always, I kind of dislike Leonard. He's always half and half on being an asshole and this is not the first time I've disliked his character. He's not a huge douche but he's kind of a prick in some episodes.

Seriously though, I love the style of humor Amy's character portrays, and I don't know why so many of you don't like her. I do agree Bernadette isn't as funny as she could be, but I think every characters adds SOMETHING to the show.

I like this because I'm smart and I understand a lot of the stuff regarding science in it, I'm also a pretty big nerd so I actually understand every argument they make about the quality of the Star Trek movies, Babylon 5, all the comic stuff. I started watching it a few weeks ago, it was the first time I'd laughed out loud at TV in months. Now I'm on like season 4 and I don't find it as funny, Idk if the kid of jokes are getting old or if the quality degraded. Still like the show.

I don't really like the desperate, self-hating Amy. I prefer the wry and deliberately inappropriate version.
The show is losing it's scientific edge and I don't like that. In the earlier seasons, the plot of an episode was more often based on something which is currently a hot topic in physics (the graphene episode comes to mind). Now it starts to come down to fart jokes and spending whole episodes to make fun of some phobia or social incompetence. Sure, there still is a whiteboard with some QM equations in the back... It's becoming a neurotic version of all the other mainstream shows. This sucks cubic balls in vacuum.
This is just a standard sit com with a thin facade of pseudo science. I watched 5 minutes of it, and when one of the characters explained that the liquids in a tequila sunrise stacked on each other because of different "gravity properties" I turned it off, realizing at once that it was going to be just another show getting it wrong, but it doesn't matter because the average television viewer kind of turns off their brain when they turn on the TV.
I don't know. I disliked the show at first because I thought it kept setting up Sheldon as some incredibly obnoxious nerd whose friends would make fun of him - and they were the heroes for that. I warmed up to it later, since Sheldon can be pretty awesome, a lot of the scientific references aren't actually made up and the rest of the cast's annoyance with Sheldon isn't because of his nerdiness, but because of his obnoxious. I still think it had a lot of bad acting, bad plotting, you name it, but I thought a lot of episodes were quite watchable. That was season three or something. I skipped four and five(?) and downloaded the five most recent episodes the other day, to see what the show was like these days. To my surprise they had some really unfunny and unrealistic unbelievable characters that seemed to be part of the main cast now, and it might be the shock of the new characters, but I thought the show was just not clever at all anymore, when at least in the past it inspired to be.

Not exactly right, the scientific references are mostly correct.

New characters? And what part of the show was meant to be realistic, it's a sitcom.

Actually, almost all of the things in this show are correct. Also, the woman who plays Amy, who is a source for some of the intellectual material, has a PhD in neuroscience.
Yeah Leonard is getting really annoying to watch and really predictable. He always screws up his face into that squinty eyed frown 80% of the time he's on screen. He feels out of place more and more and doesn't fit in with the group. He has much more sex than the others as well.
Amy has really evolved as a character. She used to be the female carbon copy of Sheldon but has found her own place now. Penny gets more and more boring.
just watched season 8 episode 3. it was alright. I haven't watched the show since the first season so i have no idea what is going on but there were some interesting points raised. The science of relationships is a thing. Some aspects of research can be helpful. Specifically marriage counselling or relationship counselling is effective. A relationship contract was also something I thought about in my younger days. Perhaps it might actually gain some popularity with the general public and some improved and realistic version of a relationship contract will become common in society.
Regarding the pitch. I was disappointed. Science and sports work really well together and this episode failed to make that connection. Applying physics, and kinesiology to baseball would been educational and socially positive..
