Pick a beastmaster carry mid - who knew it will get owned post 20 mins. Game 3 - Core first phase - owned. Every time.
Matu was having an awesome game until team fights happened. That pit crushes PL, put a disruptor on top of that -
useless.
As simple as that - ima huge fan boy, but its honest to say - Liquid deserved that loss. Questionable drafts in to some bad plays - thats what you get.
Maybe those 2 week patches got them too, seems like no player likes that, but they are all playing under the same circumstances. They have to get some time to practice, first time i see this team in maybe two years not on the same page.

It's not cool to watch this liquid in this tournament. It seemed they only made bad decisions and team synergy was far from what it has been. I hope it's all just a scam to make enemies not target them at TI. Let's go liquid!

At least their elimination saved us the misery of watching them continue to play this badly. Maybe if it was a close and respectable series but only Pain showed up and they looked great.

Liquid just making the same mistakes this entire tournament over and over again. Watching these guys get picked off and killed a million times over and over again wasn't an enjoyable experience so whatever.

Liquid is dropping the ball lately. No tournament wins, early eliminations, consistently looking lost as a team, and all 5 players rarely performing well at the same time.

I dont want to downplay our elimination here. But you conveniently leave out the fact that besides DAC and now Birmingham, we were Top4 in every tournament we entered. That is two bad runs out of 7 tournaments in 2018. Yes we should not have lost to pain, we looked pretty bad during it, but to say 2018 was entirely bad is very much so hyperbole.

It speaks more of the volume of expectations we have for TL that all that consistency counts for nothing among the fans

I wouldn't say consistency counts for nothing but it'd count more if it were still there. The placements at DAC and Birmingham just kinda ruined that consistency. DAC could've been a fluke but with this elimination at Birmingham, it clearly isn't.

I don't expect them to win everything which is why I was previously somewhat fine with how their 2018 was going but now it's not looking so good for them.

Didnt see the games because of work, but damn there are some negative people here. Sure its not nice to see them lose so early but that happens to every team. Liquid still was the most consistent team of 2018, and they will recover for sure;)

1. Firstly, yes, the fact that there are two weeks patches, demotivates - in the interim - a reigning TI team (with the same players) whose single greatest goal and desire is to win a second (and in a row) TI for the first time in history. And even without these (too) often patches, a team who won the last TI (= the hugest amount of fame and money at the moment) has a hard time in full focusing on anything else than the next TI. (Generally, the teams in e-sports are of youngsters so when they win a (today) TI, at first, they don't realize how much money&fame they've got and what those lots of money&fame mean; in half/an year they are - absolutely - forced to see the hugeness of the money&fame acquired.). An analogy for this first point's idea would be like: after you go to and climb Everest, any other local peak (all others tournaments beside TI are local lower peaks) is just a kind of entertainment (not that they aren't difficult to climb - you can die at any moment climbing any small peak -, but all these local lower peaks - automatically [after winning Everest] - became of lesser importance in your eyes -- This is a psychological law).

2. Secondly, all other teams have their's eye on you (even in the restroom!).

3. Thirdly, all other teams are hungrier than you (to win a second TI is a kind of luxury - to win it for the first time is more like a [dota] lifetime dream).

4. To "save strats for TI" in this two weeks patch pace, I think is impossible (especially for months intervals).

5. BO1s are anti-dota almost all the time = is mainly like promoting luck and weaker teams - look at any other sport! (I'm starting to think ESL is favorizing some/the lower seeded teams) - please stop!

BOTTOM LINE: the worst thing - i think - is this two weeks patch "law": imagine this in any other sport or e-sport or in life!
You cannot improve in playing the game, but you have to improve in understanding and quickly adapt to the so frequently changes brought to the game.

I keep remembering the symptoms to depression and I ask myself "Am I depressed because I'm no longer enjoying an activity that I used to love for no reason?" But then I really think about it and I realize that I'm no longer enjoying watching Dota tournaments because the formats are so bad not because of depression. This isn't even about losses. I hate Bo1s. I hate whatever the hell the ESL formats are and I just want them all to end no matter win or lose.

The DPC is a nightmare that I would never wish upon my greatest enemy.

VP definitely has not earned the right to be considered consistent even with Rodjer.
