Exactly. I feel like they are not disrespecting the fanbase or anything - they just seem to be playing smart, having fun - not spending all their energy, which is quite important to stay in good form over a long period.
Also - would you prefer they are trying hard in the first half of the year just to burn out right before TI?
If there is a time to experiment and mess around a bit it is right now (which they're quite clearly not even doing. Messing around is having Kuro play AW...) - especially if you're liquid, with a fairly decent amount of DPC points.
You have to keep in mind that everyone is working towards TI - so as a pro team you will try and be in the best possible form for TI, not for random Majors months before.

Usually We start wining at this time of the year, then it goes well until TI, then whatever happens. One thing i am sure they want third Epicenter, and this time it is a Major, so Two rabbits with one bullet. If they don't try hard there, this means that our hopes that they are not trying hard, or don't give a fuck about any tournament other than TI are bullshit, and that is probably true, as it is extremely hard to stay dominant for over an year in that stacked with extremely good players envoirnment. Don't forget also that there will be at least two more medium patches from valve before TI. They seem mnor but things like Bounty dont give experience have a huge impact on the game. For example GH is not doing so well anymore as he usually gets at least one or two runes every two minutes means he is level 6-7 @ min 10, then the experience book goes to kuro and supports are good to go. However these days things are different and if your roaming is not successful you don't get shit then you are in trouble.

I for one really enjoyed their draft in the G3 vs VP, they had a clear concept of dota, a win condition that they were close to achieve. VP outfought them at the first aegis push against the odds and that's where the all-in crumbled. Don't cry about not drafting a counter to tb or banning it when the entire game plan was a tb counter. I think as someone else already pointed out the oracle pick by VP was what even made it possible for them to not get pressured out of the game by Liquid by like 20mins.

I think as someone else already pointed out the oracle pick by VP was what even made it possible for them to not get pressured out of the game by Liquid by like 20mins. The only thing they had is concept. But it was a bad One. Huskars weakness is Physical damage. Guess what damage does DP Ulty? Not to mention TB. Put an ORACLE on top of it to deny them from dying... On the top tier two push early in the game Miracle died in like 1.5 secs, thats after solar crest treads, armlet and decent levels. We've all seen Huskars tank the whole enemy team... That was not the case.
So it was not a clear concept it was an all-in strat on small odds. Its like you know your opponent has a Full House in poker and you have 3 of a kind. 1 card to go and you all in on the last card being your fourth...
You got to win the game by 20 mins thats it. And it didn't work. VP played well, because they are world class team, and we made a couple of mistakes. What i said after the game - this is a bad all-in strat that doesnt suit a top team like Liquid. Its ok to pull a huskar, drow, brood occasionally just to keep the fear high on your opponents. But that was not a game for huskar.
|
Well it was not a good draft, but credit has to be given to VP for defending the cheese. Many weaker teams would have crumbled and let the huskar snowball. Liquid was definitely capable of winning if VP didn't play well.

A MDL major just started the EU qualifier. Liquid was not in direct invite list nor the EU qualifier. Wonder why they declined a major?!
|
Probably it's because MDL is between Epicenter and ESL Birmingham and TL prefers to not go to China at that time. They (like many other teams) are playing a lot of events in the next 2 months already, and going back and forth to China can get tiresome.

Heen will be stepping in for Miracle at DreamLeague which means Kuro gets another opportunity to pick core for himself this season. What a good life he must be living

I wonder if it's at all useful for a seasoned coach like Heen to play a tournament? I don't think Heen does a lot of communication coaching and still understand most of the things the team does without being in-game, but it can still probably be a good coaching experience.

Artstyle said in an interview that he benefited from standing in for Solo.

I hope that he is ok too.
This tournament will be fun for sure. We will not be at our best, but imagine the new strats Kuro already has in mind. Can't wait to see them.

Well they said, that Miracle is back for DAC; so just a week/tournament without him! will be interesting if Heen can carry to dreamleague victory!

seems like just some vacation while he can still get some with our position being fairly good DPCpoint-wise.

so I have two points to make after the games against Fanatic:
- I absolutely fucking love gh. The guy doesn't just play really really well and selflessly, but he also seems to be a genuinely nice bloke. So great. He alone is a reason to love Liquid.
- Kuro's drafting is so next level, it's ridiculous. This game mentally started weeks ago in that 3rd place match in Katowice between them, where Kuro drafted an arc warden for himself. Now fast forward to today and Envy gets cocky and wants to get back at Liquid (who are with a standin) by drafting a core shadow shaman. Got to love it.

Kuro still a beast on core.
Something never changes

Liquid might not always be the best team in every tournament this season but they're the most consistent. Props to them for always being in the Top 4 even without Miracle.

Really excited to see them take on secret with heen;)
This one will be a lot tougher, but who cares - liquid has gh, we always have a shot.
