do you use the same skills? i know i have a decent monk, but i have no idea why i can't work out act 3. i mean speed-farming, i finished act 3 easily ^^.
what farming route do you use? thanks

I use blind-faith to buff my SW instead of SSS, but otherwise same skills. I usually run craters+fields of slaughter+bridge+keeps 2(3 as well if I die halfway through to a baneling).

Low low armor and not enough resistances to counteract it, plus dropping resolve for fleet-footed is probably the source of your problems.
|
Hyuna: Uh, not even 600 resists and only 600 LoH is not good enough to sustain in act3 imo, especially since you have dropped resolve.

He has a bit under 700 all resist and 1k LoH by my count so I don't see that many issues. My MF gear has ~750 resist and 600 LoH so I don't think he should be having that many problems.
If you really have to though, pick resolve back up because that'll be the fastest and cheapest way to speedrun act 3.

about how much armor/res do you recommend, and which slot do you recommend changing to get more armor? I never really considered armor when building my barb since I got it for free with str.

Let armor come with gear. As you switch to more 63 pieces and get more dex armor will go up. Don't gear for armor specifically, resists are better.
As for a resistance benchmark, I'd aim for 700, although other people may have differing opinions, as this really depends on how much sustain you have.
Looking over my posts I seem to have misquoted/misdirected people @_@. Posting at 2am will do that

I have 676 resist, 32k life, 5300 armor, and 848 loh, but Im still dying very often in a3. what am I doing wrong?
|
Shield up if you're having issues with survivability. 1k free armor, cheap 10% crit and 300+ dex... far more economical option than finding 2 nice socketed weapons.
Individual results may vary, but I farm A3 comfortably with 500 resist 600 loh and 6k armor with gimpy dps.

hm thats weird, is it a skills/playstyle issue for me then? 1k armor basically = 100 resist, so unless your life is a lot higher than me we should have similar EHP, and I also have a bit more loh. However, molten/descrator/other damaging elite affixes (so blocking is a non-issue here) kills me almost instantly... would just switching to resolve make the difference? if so looks like Im gonna need to buy more defense, Im really starting to like the 10% movement.

Load your profile into the D3up site ( http://d3up.com/b/16396#build-gear says my EHP is 380k) which means nothing to me since like every melee im sure; dies to molten exclusively. For extremely annoying packs like molten - shielding - waller - arcane or whatever, don't be ashamed to kite back and let your CDs refresh even if it means letting Sweeping Wind drop. Only advise I have assuming you use the cookie cutter FoT/Cyclor build.

I would like to know what kind of build u guys are suggesting to a 40ish lvl monk hc. I got like 800 dps, 7k hp, 70 allres and 2k armor. Is it best me to team up with higher dps guys who can't solo safely or should i just keep farming act1-2 nightmare until I can safely move on. Also, what kind of stats requires to kill nightmare belial without problems of surviving? I also checked prices for lvl req. weapons (both 1h and 2h). And they looked ridiculous imo :D.
and as i can't use all skills yet, what kind of skill build u suggest for fast farming with enough survivability? and where is best place to lvl up 40-45 lvl monk?
I got exp% (cain's set or something can't remember name) items so i'm a bit glassy.

I've geared pretty much for DPS only, got up to 64k unbuffed
7k armor and 500 resists (with enchantress) and having no problems. I do die sometimes though, guessing the next few upgrades will have to get my resists up to ~650. no loh, no lifesteal, only 430 life after kill on one of my rings.
when I started playing again (3 weeks ago) I was at around 700 resists, same armor, about 800 loh and about 32k dps and had no problems farming a3 (although I was much slower, so I usually just did bunker, keep depths, underbridge if it spawned and siegebreaker).
so, if someone has problems farming a3 with around those stats, it's definitely a build and/or playstyle problem.

hello guys. i've seen Echoing Fury as the main weapon on quite some monks now, so i was wondering if it's really worth it to buy one.
please share your experiences? thanks

it's strong and the +aspd applies to both hands

+attacks per second applies to both weapons, so it's an insanely good weapon when well rolled. It also happens to be extremly expensive to get a better one than my MH so I'm not going to bother(I think cheapest one that beats my current MH(5.5 mil) is like 30 mil @_@). Definitely worth it at the high end though, because of how absurdly better than everything else it is when dual wielding. It's probably more cost efficient to upgrade other gear first though beccause of how expensive it is. EF really shines when you are using a slower offhand though simply because of how +attacks works.
|
okay, thanks guys :D i'll save some 20-25 mil and buy a good socketed EF because it seems insanely good.

I'd use that to make sure it's a worthwhile upgrade. A lot of the time you can get equivalent dps with a much cheaper not-EF weapon. Unless sustain is an issue and you really need the attack speed, it's often better at low to mid-end gear to just use a well rolled rare.

There's really no amount of res/armor that will save you from desecrator / molten. So you just need to find the right amount of defensive stats to allow you to enough time* move out before you die. It's possible that you just get unlucky sometimes too though; like Molten / Illusionist / Arcane Occulist in the staircase levels....
But ya, generally you can't out-gear moving out of 'bad stuff on ground', so you just gotta be more careful and try to fight these mobs on more favorable ground - in the keeps/barracks that generally means back tracking until you reach a previously cleared big square room.
