Lol, was going to say it sounds like D3 copied WoW's model of having rating scale time-to-live linearly to prevent increasing returns. WoW also put a hard cap on armor, but I don't think it could ever be reached without trying everything you could to stack a raid / blow cooldowns, ect.
Funny thing is, I played a warrior in WoW, which the Barb stole a bunch of skills from and yet I love the Monk so much more.

Off topic but related to the armor cap - I had quit wow right before cata came out and played a few days of free trial cata a few months later. Inner fire for priests used to be a flat say 2330 armor (don't remember the actual number but doesn't matter) and they changed it to a % increase instead of a specific amount for cata. So when I got on my priest again I still had the old Inner Fire buff with the number 2330, but it now worked as a percentage so I was waaaayyyyy over the cap for the next 30 mins of game time I had. That was a fun BG where I took zero melee damage and people probably though I was cheating.

Same boat.
Leveled 2 monks to 70 so I could 'main' two different builds - one = CDR-Inner Fire, the other Lightning-LTK. Just like monk playstyle more than I can stand any other class for long periods of time, but will give Crusader a try soon.

So now that raiment/sunwuko's has been buffed, how are people finding it?
Note: I don't have a jawbreaker(yet)
2 different gear setups I have, one does 90m crits, other does 75m or so while having about 70% more toughness.
You are king of killing white mobs. Cyclone>EPx2(strong spirit)>dashing strike will instagib most whites on T5 and below, On T6 I think you need the jawbreaker resets to deal enough damage, but it should add huge amounts of mobility and damage.
Elites are a problem. A very, very big problem, especially without jawbreaker. I've been dragging stuff nearby, tagging with EP and then blowing it up before running away because my DPS is laughable without a spender other than EP. Unless I can group the pack up with 4-5 tagged white mobs it's almost impossible to kill them in a reasonable amount of time.

Well since I can't do an effective lightning build without jawbreaker, I decided to swap to fire since I found a fire SoJ which I could reroll for OWE(still no lightning soj, have cold/physical/holy/fire already). Still a bit off BIS (vit/owe cindercoat for example, and my ammy is pretty shit, GNK is at 3m/reroll T.T), but I'm pretty close at this point, missing OWE off RoRG, ammy and cinder. Can do T5 so long as I cycle cooldowns correctly for elites, but I'll need another 100 odd paragon levels before I can do T6 as fire even if I manage to get OWE on everything. At least I got all the hard parts with OWE done (magefist/GNK/SOJ/aug bracers). Ghom test is about 60m dps, which is fairly good for a monk, but that is pretty shit compared to most other classes. Hopefully firemonk gets buffed in 2.1, in which case I'll have a set of almost BiS gear waiting. Gearing as a monk is truely a test of patience because you need 4 good rolls before enchanting to even get a usable item most of the time.

CDR working on DS makes Raiment a bit easier to use!

And the they increased the base recharge rate of DS from 6 to 8 seconds...
