What skills do you think a support monk should use in torment 2-3? I play hardcore and use mantra of conviction - overawe, serenity, dashing strike, fists of fury - blazing fists, cyclone strike - implosion... I am not sure what to use for the last slot. I want something that brings dps to the party and brings down packs faster.
Is exploding palm with "the flesh is weak" a good choice? Does my party also do more damage to the mobs?

Kinda lost as to what I need to do to improve my monk. I'll be getting a new amulet(prob similar to wizard but less 100 on each stat) tomorrow once the crafting for it is fixed, but after that I'm kinda stuck. Right now my EHP pool simply isn't up to snuff for doing ubers or anything past torment 3 or 4, but I don't see any easy(or cheap) way to increase it without losing a massive chunk of damage, either from the crit chance on natalya's or the inna's set bonus(or the gloves, pretty hard to craft anything like it any more). I do have access to a CD/LS offhand so I'm fine as far as that goes.

I got the opposite problem but that's mainly because I haven't found a replacement for my OH yet : http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/razhil-2619/hero/790013
You should throw the old inna away as soon as you find a suitable rare (or legendary) item with a lot of dex/vita/all res or physical res (in your case), that +150 dext bonus is probably not giving you as much DPS as you think it does.
Of course you'll lose some dps, but not such a massive amount and if you survive where you'd have sooner died, it's for the best.
You can also always replace some of those green armor gems by HP or All res gems until you fell confortable with your EHP.

I'm starting to play d3 again since the last patch, it's true that it really improved the game greatly and that motivated me to continue leveling my hardcore monk. So far i'm only level 11, but do you have any advice for a monk build in hardcore? This is my first hardcore character so i'm trying to do something relatively safe.

If you are going for a safe monk, it's mainly just sword and board with mostly defensive skills like healing, armor, and invulnerability. From what you wrote it seems to me like this will be your first hardcore character so try to get your hands on a higher level ruby to put in your weapons, that increases your dps by a LOT at lower levels. Also the all resist from diamonds are really OP if you can get those, but they are not listed on the AH so I'm not sure if that's possible without having a higher level character already. In general though don't push yourself to killing things too fast and bite off more than you can chew, don't fight any fallen if you don't have your invulnerability skill ready, and if you can, play with other people because stacking mantras/warcries and all the buffs for character diversity in hardcore really help out.

Thanks for the tips, I don't really want to use the AH for this, especially as it going to disapear soon anyway and droprates now make playing without the AH manageable. I guess i need to find a group to play with, but my friends stopped playing the game and playing the game in hardcore with strangers is a bit scary ^^.

Im in same boat as Jetaap, leveing monk hardcore, 25 now. Almost died once, got my heart racing really fast which was most welcome. Can't wait till I hit 60 and can level with my friends. They tell me they can boost me when I hit 40 (not sure why 40, and how, and I have no 60 hardcore from before).

They probably mean that they have lvl 60 stuff with lvl required -20 so that you can equip it as soon as you hit 40

So i made a first real run today with my good ol´monk and i gotta say, it feels like they nerfed him a good deal, i already started to get some problems on T4, could play MP10 before with relative ease. But at least i found one decent upgrade and am now running around with 40 % more lighning skills dmg. Double Won Kim Lau ftw ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif) Looks so cool!

Just out of curiosity, isn't your build a bit outdated now too? Most builds I've been seeing are bringing more offensive spirit spenders now rather than three defensive spells.
Honest question, I'm still a Torment 1 monk and haven't seriously played since dueling was announced lol.

Yep, noticed this today as well and switched out the blind for WoL. I only played around with him a bit so i haven´t really taken a look at all the different new spells. But it´s still fun so far, just get the same feeling as others that the game slowed down a bit. Playing T3 atm and almost never die, maybe it´s just the lower moster density? But i haven´t found a dps upgrade yet except the WKL, loving that one still a lot! =)

Overawe was nerfed significantly, even more so than the tooltip would indicate. Reports are the actual value is a few % less. So a variety of other mantras will work just as well.
Flesh is weak was buffed to 20% making it a better debuff.

What builds at you guys running on monk ATM? Also I have around 35% crit chance - what rune is better for sweeping wind - blade storm or cyclone?

I'm using cyclone because if I kill some stuff in an area I can just dash away and my remaining cyclones will clean up a few stragglers, although my crit chance is at like 48%. Just based off of your crit chance for you it seems like a toss up and won't make too much of a difference unless you have some +% damage to physical or lightning skills, then pick that one.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#UfSdTk!dchX!bZcaca That's the build I'm using right now, but I've not been playing monk too much and been concentrating on wiz and crusader so it's mostly just a variation on my level 60 build and not necessarily the best.
|
Btw why do so many people use cyclone strike? It does less damage than lashing tail kick and uses more spirit.
|
Cyclone strike is not for the damage. It's to put all the enemies on top of you so sweeping wind and generator can finish them off. It's even better for groups
|
Is there a point where monk feels good to play outside of groups? Even with cyclone strike it feels like LTK doesn't hit all that many mobs or that hard, only 5m crits and quite a bit less when I don't.
Sitting at 600k/11.3m, and while dps being half of my wizard's is part of why it feels shitty, I think there's more to it than that.
|
I go for cyclone + soothing breeze and sss + fulminating onslaught rune to take care of the mobs

Hey guys, does Unity passive stack with Inna's 4 piece bonus?
