Im pretty sure that Holland knows the weaknesses to his team. Its just getting harder and harder to find top talent while drafting in the 20 to 30 spots. Its unclear to me that he knows the weakness of the team. Otherwise he would have gone out and tried to find defensemen for the last 4 years not signing Cleary/Samuelson/Alfredson to contracts that are unneeded. For the record the Red Wings AHL team is pretty good, and the young guys on it could play but Babcock hates foreigners now for some reason and Holland doesnt want young players playing for him.

Varlamov as a 945 Goalie is reasonable though. Same with Giggy at that level. If I was an Av's fan though I'd very quickly hope this last game is forgotten by everyone in front of the crease. Too many penalties and it felt like Pit had the puck 80% of the game. 7/7 PK is a bright spot though.

1) We just traded Mike Brown, a Player MacT and Eakins adore for a pick giving us only 48 contracts for seemingly no reason. He had been playing well even. 2) Eberle has missed practice for two day straight for unkown reasons. 3) We have a ton of forwards injured... Smyth, Hall, Joensuu from last game. Only called up Tyler Pitlick... 4) Oilers just called up D Taylor Fedun despite having 7 healthy D on the roster (Grebeshkov, Ference, Schultzx2, Smid, Petry, Belov) 5) We play tomorrow 6) All our media guys just buzzing on twitter right now. Just odd. If there is smoke?

If Yak isn't going to get 1st overall talent value (Ie, Erik Johnson value at minimum[Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk, Ty Rattie]) we better not move him. It not worth it. He has 50 goal game changing potential. That being said, I could see a valuable piece like Smid/Eberle/Hemsky moving out and us getting a goaltender and some forward size. Maybe a Tootoo or a Matthias

All the other guys have dudes covering their roster spots already with the team. Speaking of covered roster spots, is their any way we can send Arcobello back to OKC after what he's done? He has been quite good for us and I think Gagner may have to settle for 3rd line time when he returns.

If Arco keeps playing this well, I think we could sell him similar to Canacher value. ppg OP.

Also, if EDM can trade Arcobello as part of a package for a top d-man, why not! But I doubt they get more than a #4 dman for just him.

It's reasonable for Varlamov, who's never had great stats over a full season, to set the record for save percentage by a significant margin...?

He's been (apparently) resting an injured back? Trading Eberle would be awful. So awful. He's constantly mentioned in trade rumours over the other young talent on the team and all I can guess is that it's because of his lower draft-pedigree. So he didn't go first overall, whatever. That doesn't change the fact that he has (perhaps arguably) been the Oilers best and most consistent forward so far this season. Despite the talent on offense, he's one of the few guys that can reliably finish a play. If he gets traded, I'm going to drink a lot. edit: And why is everything still about a "top" goalie? Teams don't give those up cheap and I can't see how it's worth it on the Oilers end. Plus, Dubnyk has been wonderful in his last few starts and appears to be returning to his previous standard (which is above average, if not sensational - which is good enough). Or are we still judging him on 3 games rather than the previous 100 or so?
