i do not understand why the nhl goes so light on blatant boards like that and shithead lapierre, but brings the hammer down on whiffed checks that connectw ith the head. the latter can be an accident; the former is almost never

Im from the East Coast so I dont watch the Oilers very often. It seems like they get almost all their chances on the rush and score all their goals that way. Are they any good in the other areas of the game? And OMFG Dubnyk looks bad. Every shot seems to be an adventure and or a juicy rebound... The games where Edmonton looks good as a team are the games where they are allowed to play a fast north south game with very little defensive structure to it and tons of flow. These games often come with alot of penalties to both teams and Edmonton special teams have been pretty good this year. But this is the NHL and most coaches are smart enough to make sure their team doesn't allow this style to occur for any stretch of time so they lose alot And yes, its terrifying every time a shot is taken.

I'd wager he gets 15 games just because he is useless for anything except that. edit: 15 too much, 10 sounds right. edit2: 15 is actually not enough, he should be kicked out of the league since he isn't a hockey player but Shanahan cannt do that

Also, Sabers GM, how does he still have a job? Being a good old boy in the NHL must be the best form of employment insurance ever. you are NEVER out of a job. Look at how many guys work in the league who have a connection to the game. Seriously there are a lot of people in the business that have been apart of the NHL family for a long time. Whether they be time keepers, goal judges, working the penalty box, etc.

Its gonna suck for the guy who loses 50 games out of 82 but at least it might hurt the wallet enough for guys to behave on the ice and respect each other. this hit was total disgrace. buffalo werent in the game at all. they had no emotion and no answer to the B's game and john scott turned thornton away at least once because he didnt want to fight him at 3-1. edit: remember the fuss it made when he went out to suspend wisniewski for 8 games or so a few yrs ago... the disciplin committee will have to sacrifice someone someday. May it be a pos like cooke/ kaleta/ lapierre...

at this point i hardly watch at all because of the head injuries and clogged ice surface... as i've stated previously. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/concussions-front-and-centre-as-new-season-begins/article558515/ Thanks Brian! http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/06/01/brian-burke-time-for-nhl-think-bigger-rinks/4ME6jdOhCziVymEfnyL1zO/story.html Damien Cox summed up the NHL's brand of hockey nicely today. "an exceptional case even these days when there seems to be a suspension-per-day and NHLPA members seem more determined than ever to cause each other serious brain injuries." http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/2013/10/24/john_scott_a_rare_combo_of_goon_rat_for_buffalo_sabres_as_vicious_hit_on_loui_eriksson_shows_cox.html the best part of the two canadian media sources is that neither are owned by either Bell or Rogers. how is Ovechkin doing? is he "done". ya thought so. how is Reimer's "neck injury". ya thought so... Bernier trade is looking ok at this point and hardly a "stupid move". I'll let Kelian take it from here.
