Agreed. If the 3 disbanded teams combine for a new team + others get shuffled, we'd have a crapload of competition: everyone but Ace.
That's good because in present form Fox, MBC and Oz had no chance of competing anyway: they don't have enough depth and/or an ace player. But now SKT1/KT/CJ/STX/Samsung/New team can all be legitimately competitive.
One positive thing about this: Remaining teams will be more competitive. There's players that get played these days who just get ruined, so maybe we won't have to see them play anymore? I feel like at least one of these guys is gonna find a sponsor, and that would mean 8 teams left... That's not too bad. 10 teams was a lot, and a lot of starcraft to watch. 8 is also a lot of sponsors and people that still care about BW. When you spin it that way it really doesn't seem like SC:BW is in as much trouble as it did.
edit: ooo, someone had the same thought I did :@ haha
Maaaan, this is so sad . I really hope someone picks JD. All the OZ guys are really cool, but I was hoping to see at least one OSL with JD owning Flash at least one more time :D.
Just thinking about it ... JD going to SKT would be sooo awesome. He needs that kind of practice partners and so much less stress on being the only real solid player in his team.
And if worst has to happen, let's hope some of these guys come to SC2 to teach them noobs how to play an RTS game. I'd love to see some of these guys show the many "BW players wont do well in SC2" defenders how they beg to differ ,
Farewell Lecaf. Perhaps I shall know you under another name, but Lecaf/Hwaseung will be forever be number one in my heart. The 4 years of following, the ups and downs, the championship runs and all those hilarious drag dances. From Hiya's hilarious MSL ceremony entrances to ggaemo's face after that dreaded mine drag under an ebay. Oz has an irreplaceable spot in my heart in the hearts of all Oz fans. I bid thee farewell Oz, and hopefully a sponsor will arise. I believe, Hwaseung Oz fighting!
Flash won the game. Game Over for everyone else. Flash got no rivals left to contend. Where is this competition going? With his hand surgery, it pretty much leaves his place in broodwar unchallenged because if he plays worse than before... 'hand surgery.' Is this the end of brood war?
To an extent, you can say Flash did it. If Jaedong beat Flash this past year...or there was a clear rival of flash. would broodwar be more popular? I can imagine, yes.

Yep, sucks for players, but great for fans!
Well except for the fans of those teams that are disbanding ><

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about that, I'm fairly sure JD isn't going to have to leave BW unless he himself chooses to, surely teams will be squabbling for him if oz doesn't find another sponsor.

Not sure yet, but they probably won;t be FAs. Either there will be a new sponsor that will scoop up some or all of these teams, or there will be a estro style draft, as I understand it.

Even good sitcom TV shows don't last this long, even if they do they probably have a whole completely different cast of characters by that time. What game even comes close to BW of being played competitively for as long as BW?
Not too long ago that means. BW is still going strong in that aspect... Maybe people should of pulled a Tasteless and asked the fans to Tweet at the sponsors so they know all the support they are getting? I doubt Pepsi will be dropping GSL as a sponsor for some time now because of that.
Wouldn't switching to SC2 reduce the chance of Carpal Tunnel because it is less APM intensive?
OT: SC2 is not less APM intensive at all - whatever gave you that idea? More effective APM will always help. It's just that when comparing BW to SC2, BW has a higher mechanics/reward ratio than SC2.
Being able to Select more than 1 building and more than 12 units.
I don't understand, they got the highest TV Rating ever for SPL and Flash is getting the highest salary ever, so with the popularity being very high and the ratings being very high, they are still profiting. Why the hell would they close all these teams ;_;

'twas ggaemo.
I hope Oz can find a sponsor and remain intact. If it gets parted out the other teams, that'd be really bad. I'd hate to see HiyA end up on a team that doesn't need him and never plays him.
