Someone is gonna see those PL ratings and want to sponsor I think. Oz is one of the better teams out there, I'm sure (AND HOPING) that they get a sponsor! T____T. too bad to hear about MBCGame. They don't care T____T. | ||

Why the hell would they close all these teams ;_; I think it is fairly understandable, the teams that are disbanding generally haven't done very well recently and there sponsor doesn't get much exposure due to their poor performance. If you think about the SPL finals, it's been SKT vs KT 2 finals in a row, while the TV ratings are great for SKT, KT, OGN (and MBC if they weren't going to back out of the industry like pussies :p) the other teams don't really get much from the finals themselves, and don't look like they will stand to gain much from it anytime in the foreseeable future. While OZ surely does get some good exposure purely from the Jaedong factor, for teams like MBC and Wemade with their not-quite-top-level-ace and mediocre in general team I can see how they might feel that the sponsorship is not really worth it anymore. Still, it's sad to see teams disband, but perhaps going forward if a single stronger team is formed from the 3 teams in Kespa management, it might well be the best thing that could happen in terms of providing stability to the remaining teams. | ||

 This announcement by no means heralds the death of BW (which is still very popular). What it does seem to herald (at least for the moment) is a growing consolidation and monopolization of the scene by the bigger, more popular teams, and a resulting dwindling of the second-tier teams. It seems to be a lot harder than it used to be for sponsors to get into BW, and the return on investment isn't as obvious as it might once have been. But, ultimately, as long as the fans and the players are there, BW will live. And for now, they definitely ARE there. It was the fans and the players, not KESPA or the sponsors, that built ESPORTS, and as long as they remain, BW will endure. Viva Broodwar! Syong Byong Goo FIGHTING! | ||
