I know you guys aren't trying to stir up anything but this is exactly what gets us into trouble. Do you really not see how this is incredibly condescending? I seriously don't know why you think saying things like this is acceptable.
To the others: no one really cares about people not liking SC2 (outside of trolls). It's usually when people try to force their opinion on others that people push back. Pretty much like everything else really. No need to 'force yourself' to like SC2. In the end, the whole point of playing games is to have fun (or get paid allowing others to have fun, or both).

I had no idea there were actually SC2 fans. I thought they were all too busy raging/whining.

well they do when they get small victories from raging and whining.like today when Blizzard announced that they will be putting up a competant map pool for ladder.

It's hard seeing something you like so much get ripped away from you and replaced by something that you find inferior. The people who spout really poor sc2 arguments are hard to ignore. They're so clearly inccorecct (yes we all know they are trolls) yet they are part of the movement that is smothering BW. Choose however you want... but I'm really curious what the reason is that you can find satisfaction in sc2 when so many others can't. Perhaps you have some ideas on why?
EDIT: Personally for me it feels pretty tragic. When you get introduced to the scene for the first time... there is so much exciting history to learn, and you want to be around to witness the rise of legendary players just like the tl'ers before you got to see. It didn't seem like I had enough time to really get my fill of the scene and the game before sc2 sorta changed (invalidated?) everything.
I feel the exact same way, i came for sc2 and got into BW about 2 months and haven't touched it since except for maybe some 2v2's with RL friends or something of the sorts. I tried laddering in sc2 today and i just couldn't understand how i thought sc2 was so fun before, it just seems like an easy/bland RTS to me now, i tried watching GSL again but couldn't watch more then 10 minutes of it.
After getting into to BW and seeing the history i feel extremely disappointed on not being able to find out about BW a few years ago to experience the community before sc2, i really hope there would be a resurgence of BW in the foreign community, because so far, i dont see myself ever going to like sc2 over BW, even though i wish i could.

one of the few things I want at the moment is actually the ISL to be succesful.so that more people come and play on iCCup for me to play games. I don't know how you don't get games on ICCUP, can you host? I get D+ games in like 1 minute. its a level issue I'm only D and I can't host and my router(bob) is a retard because I portforwarding doesn't help.I get mopped by D+ and D- players immediately kick me when I join games and there are no D players left. so right now I'm stuck to loading up a map in single player and practice build orders, learn to macro and then load up vulture micro maps, both normal(against lings) and the SkyHigh one(against goons). by the end of today I can truly give you reasons for why I still have hope in SC2.JULY VS NADA WOOT!!!!!!
yep July vs NaDa truly gave me hope of SC2 surviving as a spectator sport.the entire series HAD ME AT THE EDGE OF MY SEAT OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!

I really tried... really hard to like SC2.
Unfortunately Zerg doesn't feel like Zerg in SC2 at all...Bnet 2.0 is the biggest pile of hyped garbage to ever grace the presence of multiplayer gaming...and I just don't like the flow of the game at all.
Makes me sad because I was looking forward to SC2 being amazing. I, like most people, couldn't wait for a sequel to starcraft to come out.
Well it came, and while the game is good, it is not the greatness I expected. I don't really blame SC2...following SCBW is a pretty daunting task.

Agreed. That series was quite back-and-forth and completely epic.
IMO, the average SC2 pro match may not be as entertaining as the average BW match, but the best SC2 matches are as entertaining, if not more so, as the best BW matches. Sure, it may be boring to watch ball vs ball gameplay from passive non-Koreans. However, the top Koreans are often playing games with absolutely insane multitasking, aggression, tech switches, and macro that are as exciting and entertaining as the best of BW.
I would not underestimate the spectator value of SC2 until some of the more epic BW-esque games are seen. The game has tons of potential, and with better maps and better players being developed, we are tapping into the tip of this iceberg of potential.

Hmm I feel like writing a blog to let SC2 people understand why BW feels this way(as I am more of a BW fan then a sc2 fan) and hopefully have some more understanding of how we(oke I, don't want to speak for everyone) feel(s), Then again, I doubt anyone would read it.
These days their are so many uninformed posts from both sides. Because seriously, it is getting so annoying to see alot of threads end up like this. 1. random topic 2. Someone brings in a comparison of BW to SC2 3. SC2 people rant 4. BW people rant back 5. no discussion at all, just meaningless namecalling, baseless arguments and flaming 6. Topic derailed
Either that or
1. SCbw to be dropped, from whatever competition, or not included 2. SC2 guys:Bw is dead 3. SCBW guys: Bw never dies, it is so much better then sc2 4. Thread derailed, flaming ensues.
