he cleaned carpets. At one point I remember he called one of his customers while on stream and said he was having equipment difficulties o he could finish a game ever since then I've been a fan lol. I remember he also said one that if he could have 7-8 hours a day to practice like the pros he'd be just as good. Were finally gonna get to see it! go RootDestiny!
Congrats to Destiny and ROOT. I had stopped playing SC2 for a while and just randomly happened to stumble on his stream on JTV a month ago, and watching him play has gotten me interested in playing again.

JTV partnership, he earns money through commercials and it's split with JTV i believe. He makes enough to live on combined with the money he makes doing lessons.
Not to come out and flame, but I scanned this thread and found no one who wasn't happy with this move, so maybe I'll be the first, unless I missed something.
I don't know much about a lot of the ROOT guys, but what I do know makes me dislike this move entirely. ROOTqxc for instance seems like a really chill, witty, cool guy. When he talks about the game, he just sounds chill and logical. Again like I said, I don't know the ROOT players well, but this is sort of the image I had of ROOT gaming was that it was sort of like a bunch of chill guys who are good at SC2...
Destiny, however... when I listen to him talk about the game, even if what he's saying has some truth in it (or doesn't), he goes about it all in such a QQ way imo. The last stream of his I watched was a loss to a Terran on DQ. Sure it's a bad map, everyone knows that. But the whole time all he was talking about was how he can't win be cause 'HERP DERP Terran' only has to build Marines', and 'HERP DERP TIER 1 TERRAN' and shit. He just doesn't fit with my image of ROOTgaming.
The reason I don't appreciate shit like this (herp derp terran) is that yeah, everyone knows Marines are sick. Everyone knows stim is sick. Everyone knows Terran infantry is powerful and cost efficient. Everyone also knows Banelings annihilate Marines. Everyone also knows that 'lol herp derp t-a-move' against Banelings is auto-loss for Terran.
So to listen to a guy sit and rage about how newb Terran is and how herp-derp it is because he's losing(just as an example), really isn't anything like what I expect (or would have wanted) from any ROOTgamer.

Ok.... and what does this have to do with being a good player on a team? IdrA hates zerg too, should EG get rid of him? How about Ret? Should liquid kick Ret out for being QQzerg?
Destiny has 3000 average viewers BECAUSE of what he says, and what he says is true. It's just now allowed he be even discussed here, which is why he doesn't bother to post in this forum.

I didn't say he's a bad player, but what it has to do with him and ROOT is that he doesn't fit in in my mind with the rest of ROOT.
Also, IdrA hates zerg? IdrA BM's more often than a lot of other pro's, thats different than QQing. When IdrA talks about the game he is logical, he doesn't sound all upset about it, which puts a lot more weight behind what he's saying than just rage does.
If Blizzard doubled Marine damage, and two Zerg players made back to back posts about it...
Zerg 1: Marines are now too powerful. Their critical mass against banelings (which are intended as a direct counter) is now so low that Terran no longer needs to spread but rather just stim, and as long as there are 15+ Marines, no number of Banelings can get close enough to even do any damage. Look at this game to see it happen.... etc etc
Zerg 2: LAWL Its just more HERP DERP Terran! Terrans sofa king newb, just Tier 1 Stim A-move. Its total bullshit, Marines are f***ing imba!!!
They're both saying that marines are too powerful. But who would weight these evenly? This is my point, sure Destiny is a real good player and he says a lot of shit that is true, and shit that isn't true, too. (And here the Marines thing is just an example, I'm not suggesting what anyone has said about stim Marines is either true or false) However, regardless of what he says, the way he goes about saying it and the way he comes across in general does not seem to me to fit well with the rest of the ROOT players.
EDIT: I would also suggest that Destiny has so many viewers not because he's the most brilliant theory-crafter and gamer, but because he's entertaining. He's loud and funny and good.

Well all pro's QQ about the game but lately ive been gaining respect for destiny because since theyve annouced hes on root, he has really trimmed it down and has been a lot more "professional." although it is good for a gamer to have his own personality so his remarks are good for the scene as it adds a new element

No, you have the wrong image of ROOT. Destiny is basically a louder version of CatZ and CatZ is the leader of ROOT, thats why he got picked up. As for the QQ and BM thats all in good fun. Basically they don't take themselves very seriously (i.e lighthearted).

Who is this idra and what did he do to the actual idra?!
lol I love thisisjimmy. He has a full time job too which means he can't play as often as some. I don't really enjoy Destiny's attitude myself, but ROOT is a great team. Just seems like an immature kinda guy from what I've seen from his youtube vids/stream.

Qxc still a baller tho, go ROOT!
Haha, this was enjoyable. I never realized how chill Jimmy is!
All this talk about potential. How do you judge a players potential? I can name many better players than Destiny, but I don't know why root denies recruiting him for his popularity. He is a good entertainer.
Everyone who hates on Destiny has probably only watched his stream once or seen videos of him raging on youtube.
I know its tough for some people to see his sense of humor but you all are blowing it way out of proportion. He's just a guy who's passionate about what he does and isn't afraid to let a little fun into his life.
