First, quick bump because I absolutely love this program. Really makes it much easier to just follow everything that is going on, consolidates a lot of information so you don't miss out on some event or stream. So with that said DL this!!
Few suggestions/issues. Please let me know if any of this can already be done and I'm just missing it.
First, a setting so that when I hit "notifications" it would stay up longer. Finding that sometimes it disappears before I can ready through all of them and see what is going on. Also would love if on the notifications there was a little icon maybe in the bottom right to designate if it is an SC2 or BW event. Interested in SC2 and not BW so much and would be quicker to gloss over those. Maybe that would also lead to a setting where you could choose all notifications or just SC2 or BW notifications?
Anyway, just minor suggestions I really think this is a great program and find the interface to be easy and creative. Sorry if this sounds a bit overkill w/ the compliments I just really enjoy when people take the time to create something that is going to save me time/make life easier more enjoyable. Just the simple things sometimes do it.

snorlax - Thanks man , glad you like it!
JulianSidewind - Interesting , at least you should have been able to get a detailed error message. Anyway , i think i fixed the bug you reported earlier , where too many notifications mess up the placement. Well instead of trying to fix an unvisible thing , i decided to limit the notification count by your monitor limits. If your resolution can fit 10 , and you've selected 15 in the settings , it'll just show you ten ( the way it always should have been ).
FLuE - Thanks FLuE! About your suggestions ; you can easily move back and forth in notification details menu , so i didn't thought you would need more time to click them all. So you can just click one then move to next or previous right? I guess i can add a tag for BW events , can't exactly remember the data xml at the moment but as far as i remember , it contained "type" of event. But I'm not a fan of adding that to popups as it'll get too crowded in those little boxes. Instead , i can ( and i will , soon ) add a filter to calendar window ; where you can filter out proleague events etc. We'll really need that as lots of users aren't happy with proleague spam Sounds better eh?
Also thank YOU for feedback , I love to hear users feedbacks , suggestions etc. so please don't hesitate to post and ask for more !
Also a little update on our progress ; along side fixing bunch of bugs , today i re-skinned ScCFloe Settings Window! A few more things and ScCFloe will be %100 Sc2 Style.
Still a wip tho , needs a little more tweaks.
OF course i'll switch ScC options window to this style as soon as possible and hopefully then we'll have a lot more space for a lot more options , and we'll be able to let you customize ScC a lot more!

I got the irc error again and the an error window came up when i clicked debug, i hit break and i took a screenshot of it, when i get it again ill hit continue instead of break and see what happens and report back.

I added your feedback to the issuetracker and it will most likely be added for the next release (Soon™). Like Tiax said, the event feed has some information but unfortunately not the game being played. We can probably add proper filters for proleague and other regular events since they have their own type (so does GOM). The event types have their own icons, so if you ignore all PL, MBC and Ogn icons = no more BW for example. If you like ScC please spread the word, the more the merrier :D

if i may make a tiny little suggestion.
i feel the program would be even better if you did some news following. almost like built in rss feeds, withouht having to add them in manually, so we could check out the latest news from one view, you could put like tl.net, and starcraft2.com, and other major starcraft 2 news sites.
also possibly add twitter feeds into it, incorperating some popular twitter feeds like artosis and incontrol.this would be nice to get to see the twitter feeds without having to have like 10 bookmarks
also more streams would be perfect. right now i only see about 5 or 6 online when tl shows 31, not that there needs to be all of them, but some of the more bigger ones liek cella and the root people would be awesome

Is any plugin, software, or whatever required to make the streaming work? All I get is an image icon in the top left corner and a black screen.

On November 20 2010 05:02 GreyFox.me wrote: Is any plugin, software, or whatever required to make the streaming work? All I get is an image icon in the top left corner and a black screen. Yes, you need flashplayer for IE installed. go here with internet explorer: http://get.adobe.com/se/flashplayer/
How do you like the app so far?
masterbreti: Tiax will be back in a couple of hours, he'll answer you better then I can. I think we got most of that on the way though :D
|
Hey everyone ,
GreyFox.me - As Tnud said , you probably need IE Flash Player which is for some reason different than FF/Opera etc plugins. It's easy to miss that if you're not using IE like the majority these days
masterbreti - We are actually working on Rss & Tweeter following support at this moment , and both will be released with next version. ( by the way , you can check our issue tracker for these things , we use is as a TODO list )
And about more streams , i added own3d support a few days ago. Their service isn't working smoothly as livestream or ustream but hopefully they'll fxz that soon and it'll be %100 till our next release.
Other than that ; as you can see , more than half of those streams in TL list has lower than 10 viewer any given time. And because having ALL of them slows down the stream update process , we decided to leave some of the less populars ones out till users request it.
We currently have about 300 streams , and can add any stream you want instantly , just post here or PM me their names
And , today's progress ; other than lots of change in code part , i've added featured streams support to streams window.
+ Show Spoiler +
Of course we'll need a better logo for that That part is still "work in progress"
And also added event filter , which is requested by many ;
+ Show Spoiler +
At the moment we got 3 types of event ; BW Events , Gom Events and Community Events. With those 2 little buttons on top left , you can filter or search about those type of event. If you left click , it searches those kind of event , if you right click it'll disable notifications for those type of events. So Sc2 players can easily disable BW event notifications spam with one simple right click
Other than that , current change log is here ; + Show Spoiler + Added tooltips for non-standard icons. Added new settings icon for the IRC client Added new setting: Keep menu open (Until minimized/closed by user Added open in default browser to offline streams Added tooltip to offline streams showing full name Added a checkbox to keep the stream window always on top Added settings to show/hide nick changes on IRC Added settings to show/hide joined/left/quit messages in IRC Added a lot more streams. Added support for Own3d streams (As good as it gets, own3d doesn't have a real api) Added a small icon to distinguish featured streams. Added quick ways to select/deselect all GOM/BW events Added autodetect for updates. Whenever an update is available a new bar will appear on the popup menu linking to our webpage. Changed the icon and placement for Open in default browser. Changed the event search so it also searches through event descriptions. Reskinned the settings window for the IRC client. Merged Settings and About bar to save space Fixed a bug with leftover debugging code (ErrorLog.xml FileNotFoundException) Fixed a bug where clicking the IRC title area caused the program to crash Fixed a bug where "Open log location" in IRC settings only worked if you had any logs Fixed a bug where Refresh Data on the streams list would not work Fixed a bug when the program tried to load more notifications then possible to fit on screen, it would misplace the start of the list. Fixed a bug where the loading window and notifications would steal focus. Fixed a bug where not closing the program properly would result in unsaved settings Fixed a bug where the program would crash if your internet connection didn't work on startup

Just a status update on development here.
RSS & twitter support are sitting at about 90% completion! Tiax is just going through the UI so it follows the Terran command-center theme, and we're testing the crap out of it.
It will ship with support for some of our favorite RSS and Twitter feeds. The list currently stands at:
Team Liquid News Sc2 (unofficial) blog Day9's Blip.tv feed Day9's twitter DJWheat's twitter GomTV's twitter Blizzard's SC2 twitter.
If anyone is a follower of another social feed, and thinks that feed should be shared with all of the users of StarCraftCalender, please post here to recommend them!

How about artosis's and tasteless's (callmetasteless) twitter?
|
JulianSidewind - Well users can add their favorite rss and twitter feeds themselves at the moment, but as you pointed out ; artosis and tasteless should probably come by default.
And currently work in progress ; ScC Settings Menu; + Show Spoiler +
We're working as hard&fast as we can and hopefully , we'll be able to finish a few more features till release ( blip.tv support for daylies maybe? ).
If you want anything else ( or fixed ) , you can post here ( best option as everyone can see what's the problem and the solution ) , PM me , find me at TL Irc Room all night (EU) as "Tiax" or "[ScC]Tiax" mail me sccalendar@hotmail.com

I really do like it but is there a possibility to create simpler layout ? Without pretty graphics etc etc just as simple as possible ? (and maybe less pc usuage ?)
|
CryGirl1921 - Glad you like it! We actually have plans about a ScCLite or making current app skinable but at the moment , we're concentrated on new features & improvements. Once we released all core features once , we'll start working on things like design (skinable UI) & support (multi language).
At the moment we're reusing Terran theme ( which i created even before starting ScC ), in every window. And i only decided to redo the settings because had a free night while waiting for other developers to finish some functions ( syncing code ). So it's not like we're spending time in eye candy or etc.
After this release ( 1.3.1 in a week ) , I'll see what i can do about skinable UI or at least an option for minimalist & worksafe skin.
Thanks for the feedback!

I'll be brutally honest here, and before everyone flames me just realise i say this for the good of the application...
--------
This fucking rocks :D:D. Consolidates so much information into something I can just briefly glance at to make sure I'm up to date and not missing something i wanted to watch.
It's really slick too, and goes nicely with a lot of the w7 standard themes :3.
I'm trying to figure out how i can have the main menu permanently up on the desktop, but without it having priority over things like my browser, any tips?
Great work all in all. really good addition to the community.
EDIT. one thing i particularly love, is the countdown bit, no longer do i have to convert every single different timezone into my own GMT..
i just know "it starts in 5 hours". Brilliant
TRIPLE EDIT:
IF there was some way to add in a notification of GSL matches starting to go live, that would be hamazing, although i'll be buying ticket as usual to watch the vods afterwards
|
Here is the irc error window, i waited this long to post it because i thought if i hit continue it would show more detail, but it did nothing, so here it is: + Show Spoiler + Hitting Break just brings me to a bunch of assembly code that I really don't want to read through, but if it's necessary I can post it too.

Scrimpton - Glad you like it Scrimpton , Thanks for the kinds words and the heart attack you gave me after those first 2 lines
About the menu , we added an option to settings for that and it'll be in next version. IF you activate it , menu won't get closed till you go right click on it yourself. It's just stay there as long as you want.
Notifications for GSL is pretty hard as they don't have a official service for that , but we're adding twitter feed support now and I'm pretty sure someone ( artosis? tasteless? or just one of the fans? ) will be tweeting about GSL events & games and you'll get the notification!
JulianSidewind - Thanks for the report Julian , PM'ed you and I'll be waiting for a detailed error message if you can get one. At the moment it's like fighting in the dark for me

Thanks for the feedback, sounds great. It's just such a nice app to use really convenient.

Making great progress over here, the rss is moving along nicely.
For me as a user of ScC the most important new feature is honestly keeping the stream window always on top. So simple yet to important :D Many things to look forward to and trust me when I say that Tiax is working as hard as he can! PLEASE keep posting bugs and errors you get. JulianSidewind is a role model!

Could you make a version of ScC thats only the chat? (if its not too much trouble.)
I think it would be more useful to me and other people who don't really watch streams much (or watch it on their browser) and don't really care too much about events and stuff.
Thanks
|
Eleaven - Thanks Eleaven , glad you like it!
Mulu - Irc part ( ScCFloe ) is actually another standalone application , right in ScCalendar/Chat folder ( Floe.exe ). You can directly start the client and connect irc from there if you want. That's actually what ScC does when you click Irc button at the menu , so if all you want is chat ; you'll be fine
Oh and also , i had a few free hours today and made a new style which will be probably used for Rss window. I can also switch the calendar window to this style if you guys think its better , anyway here it is ; + Show Spoiler +
Left one is new , clean & works smoother. Got a smaller header and a bigger description area (which we'll need for rss). Right one is good old calendar window which is used by last release. I would love to hear what you think about them , which one you like more&prefer and why. Bnet Theme vs Terran Command Center Theme!
