I'm definitely not getting it on the 9th I'll probably end up waiting a few weeks to see how everything goes, and maybe buy a used version.

There's so many campers and noob tubers and douchebags yelling into their mics, and I'm sure that's going to carry over into black ops. On the other hand the unlock system the graphics and the gameplay look so good. So people abusing mics/hackers/etc will get a big ban hammer / response faster than VAC 1-2 month bans. Ontop of that replays can be viewed again so you can submit replays/steamid etc like the old fasion way and admins will watch the replay/ban hackers. MW2 was something that would have been an amazing game but fell on its head at birth and came out with some birth defects.

Agreed, the game was good, had flaws like all games but it was the community that abused these flaws and made mw2 crappy to play at times. If you get in a good game without the twats messing around with noobtubes its a good game. Hopefully there wont be anything very wrong with black ops that can be abused. Im a bit pissed off at how much treyarch have messed around with sniping though.

You can only kick/ban players from a server if you or a friend own the server, and you have to pay for your own server. Paying for the ability to kick annoying people is not worth it. I agree with your second point that this will be very useful. But I don't understand who you would send the replays to, to get the player banned. Also seeing how diligent hackers were dealt with in MW2, I've got a feeling they won't be to quick about it. Lastly your right about MW2, but all of it's problems could've been fixed, they just chose not to. Im a bit pissed off at how much treyarch have messed around with sniping though. That's not really fair, it shouldn't be up to the community to make a game good. They should sort out problems before they send them out, or fix them at a reasonable pace. Expecting a bunch of people to not use something cheap and imbalanced isn't going to happen. If they made battle cruisers do 20 damage a shot and have 1000 hp, some people would realize they are unfair and not use them, but the majority would just rush to them and win every time. I also don't really mind the changes to sniping, in MW2 it was kind of ridiculous how fast someone could scope up and kill you. Just means it will be more challenging to snipe, closer to that of Cod4.

Also i doubt you'll turn off aim assist Yes, I will. I played the MW2 campaign on whatever the hardest setting is called, with assist turned off, and it felt much more natural to me because I didn't have the assist swerving my aim. With it turned off, if I miss a shot, I know the adjustment that I need to make and can make it immediately. That option is actually one of the things I'm looking forward to the most in Black Ops. I'm sure most people will keep it on, or possibly not even know that they can turn it off.

Did you play CS at all? I presume with mods being available, the same serverside support would be available as well. Sharable admins/privileges as well as vote kicks/bans. As for the cheaters, you'd have public blacklists, although shouldn't Steam take care of that?

On the topic of Black Ops, I was concerned at first that it would feel old timey since it's set in the cold war era, but after looking at the weapon list, there is some seriously neat stuff on there. I'm particularly interested in this HK11 or whatever the futuristic looking 3 round burst rifle is.

When Crysis 2 comes out on consoles, it's going to look drop dead gorgeous and run with a totally acceptable framerate. In no way is this going to happen on a $600 PC. Besides, this idea that PC gaming is cheap depends on shopping for deals, lots of technical know how, an intimidating building process, and the goddamn wherewithal and time and effort to **piece together your own machine bit by bit**, not to mention that windows 7 ALONE immediately kicks that bare bones PC up to $800. Your console doesn't require any of this. It requires no maitenance, no smart usage, no computer literacy, no installation times (mostly), no server filters, no nothing. It just works. Not sure why you would pay 200USD for W7, you can get the OEM version as you buy your new computer for a fraction of the price. Surprisingly building a computer is pretty easy. Sure you need to know some basic knowledge in computers (This is 2011....people should know the basics by now). There are tech forums where you can get friendly advice, and building it your self is pretty easy. The instructions are very easy to follow. When i build my first PC (With just basic pc knowledge) i was so surprised at how easy it was for me to set everything up. The instructions were so dam easy to follow, and you can't really plug anything in the wrong way since every connector is unique...its just impossible to insert it the wrong way unless you bruteforce it in. I am not sure about what your whining about server filters..you make it sound like it needs rocket science to join a server. Infact it is way more easier/quicker to join on the PC than in MW2 4 me. I'll ignore all the PC vs. console stuff, but suffice to say with OEM you're looking at 100 instead of 200 and I have strong opinions on the rest of the stuff you've said. As for your bullshit about MW2, no fucking shit sherlock. MW2 ALREADY uses the exact same goddamn system on both console and PC. For some reason, of course, everyone hates this, despite the fact that it consistently places you in <50ms games with the proper number of players with an extremely low wait time. I'm talking about CoD 4, WaW, and theoretically Black Ops. These have used a standard PC browser which make you filter the shit out of the server list to avoid being saturated in 32 player fuck fests. Then you get to pick over the under 20 servers with 12 people in the hopes that they aren't full or offline, which invariably they almost always are. If past performance is any indication, the PC version will be the place to go if you are one of those semi-pro gamer types. Otherwise you sacrifice nothing and stand to gain much by playing the console version.

The riot shield is too weak, blast shield does too little, the Desert Eagle is fucked, the ACR needs more recoil, and the UMP is far too powerful at range. Semtex is so much better than frag grenades that you should never bother with frags. Scavenger is too good. Ninja pro is too good. Sitrep Pro is too good. The AA-12 with extended mags is too good. I could go on. The game isn't as balanced as it should be, but it's very good.

And I might just get this Tuesday on impulse. I was planning to wait until Christmas (so I didn't have to spend my money on it lol), but reading and posting in this thread really makes me want it.

I prefer semi-auto weapons. In CoD 4 I almost exclusively used the G3.

At least for those of us who have less than uber connections and above average hand-eye but not amazing "I can put them dead center screen in 0.2 seconds every time" aiming ability. Hopefully there isn't a gun like the Intervention that has bullshit level aim assist on it. Watched a video showing the guns. Last sniper has exact recoil that the Barrett has. First two have practically none. Other one is the bolt action one that appeared to zoom out after each shot, which is kinda interesting I suppose.

Are you guys talking about that annoying as fuck thing that when someone runs across your vision, it pulls the scope towards them? i to be honest found it did more evil than good. How many times are you lining up a shot, then another enemy runs across and takes your sight off your target? Man it pissed me off. Idk about you guys but the AA never really helped me at all?
