does anyone here have much experience with the SteelSeries 9HD? im drawn to it because its hard plastic and not the rubber/foam of the QcK, but its more than twice the price.

I've always preferred a soft surface mousepad and since I never have money to pay for anything new I've been using my Diablo II Ultimate Strategy Guide as a mousepad for a long time. At this point the place where I rest my wrist is worn away through about 10 pages, but I find that the mouse moves really well across it. Here's a picture of the grime crusted worn through book: + Show Spoiler + OR you could just buy something like a steelseries qck mini that costs like... nothing

Its tempting to get the Kerrigan/Zeratul SC2 Steelseries mousepad for the awesomefactor, but then again, I'll be getting the WoW Cata mousepad in a month and a half so it might be mousepad overload

i really really like it bigger than "regular" mousepads but also smaller than those huge ass counter strike ones. my desk isn't big enough to fit it without messing everything up. i also like the wrist rest. i know most of you guys hate it. but hey.. its removable so lol.. we both can enjoy it. =]

I use an mx518 mouse with it. the qck mini is a great budget choice for a mousepad.
