On October 11 2010 10:41 r.Evo wrote: Oh.. now THAT explains some things. What you describe is not a "different style of PvP" but rather a completely inefficient mindset. When PvPing you should be PREPARED to lose your ship but not INTEND to do so. Thinking of all the situations people like Mukk or me got away in Hurricanes and Nanotempests when half the fleet loldied (or people in Vagabonds got doomsdayed while a Tempest got clear, sup dex?)... survivability is a huge factor in PvP and a lot of it comes from mindset more than from the ship you are flying. While blasterboats completely suck for this type of stuff and minmatar ships excel at this task a properly flown drake has quite some survivability in tough situations, too. It's not as great as the combination of speed/raping tackle/neuts that e.g. a Hurricane/Tempest/Vagabond has, which means you need more foresight in combat. Keep that scanner up. Align out when you are not needed as a tackler. Keep that scanner up. Know when to overheat guns/MWD/scram/web. Know when to make which calls on coms. Know when it makes more sense to burn away or to burn close (this is what makes minmatar so difficult, you have to choose between applying max DPS and agility midfight - coincidently this is also which makes them so great for small gang pvp). In e.g. a Drake those choices still apply (close range = web = more dps, long range = out of point range, can still apply dps), but they are much more subtle. Most people underestimate their baiting abilities vs a fleet that knows how to manage range and heat well. Back when PL did their "resting in curse"-time they tried to hotdrop roaming gangs all fucking day. Bait-Bhaalgorn, Bait-Nightmare, Bait-Raven, Bait-Rapier, Bait-Dominix. Just name it. You engage it, you get close, you get cyno'd and bridged on, you die. The only FCs engaging and winning those things were Mukk and me. Why? We knew our enemy, knew what their plan was. So we adjusted by approaching, telling the whole fleet to TURN THE FUCK AROUND AS SOON AS YOU GET CLOSER THAN 15-20KM and make them ready to ALIGN THE FUCK OUT when the cyno appears and to KEEP DAMAGE APPLIED. We never got that damn nightmare that way since they were carefull about it, but the ubertanked (neutral) ravens died on a regular basis. tl;dr: I think you don't lose that many drakes because it is unavoidable, I think it's because you don't pay enough attention to your scanner/the situation on the field. PS: I suffer from huge FPS myself, so, no worries. It won't get better. But you can get that little voice in your head louder which says "You're only doing this because.." ... then you can choose to listen to it or not. ;D Yeah, I find myself getting out of some pretty shit situations with the nanopest. It's truly one of the best roaming ships out there.

841 overheated dps. 1738 m/s overheated 118k EHP and this is tackle fit with two mids devoted to scram and stasis. Vultures giving 26% bonus shield resist across the board is just lol. For reference the more conventional drake with 2 LSEs and a disruptor got 145.5k EHP.

Chock full of 2002 goodness. It's single player mode only, but offers much of the same kind of career paths you'd find in EVE: mining, trading, missioning, ratting, and conquering territories (no scamming unfortunately). The main difference is that there are 6 major story lines you can follow, each of them exclusive and providing a different perspective on how the galaxy's politics evolve. Also, you don't have to train up skill points for anything. None of that learnings 4 here... The main draw of EVN for me was its deep plot and vast galaxy to explore. There are many little details that are easy to miss, and many of these little clues paint a big picture into a greater understanding of the EV Nova universe. Planet descriptions, side-plots, wormholes .. and if you dig through the Ambrosia forums deep enough, you'll find developer comments that reveal even more... Galaxy is vast, and a great portion of it is unknown to the existing empires... The second part of EVN that I loved was its combat. If you're an EFT whore, then I'm sure you'll love this game, because there are 6 different racial ship trees to choose from, each with their unique tech, advantanges and disadvantages. You can fly a superfast Valk IV and actually out-burn missiles; fit a Pirate carrier and cheese it out with long range rail guns or drone bays; or give yourself a challenge and fly the weakest vell-os ship outfitted with the deadliest short-ranged weapon, the Winter Tempest. See that dinky little blue ship with the mini-yellow laser? Yeah, you can smash through several fleets of cruisers and subjugate planets with that thing -- if you're a skilled enough pilot. And if you're a trading money-making type, there are trade-routes to discover. Some are so imba that you could probably buy the most expensive ships in the first day if they weren't plot-restricted. All in all, the game has very high replay value, and was definitely ahead of its time... I don't know if you guys would enjoy it, since it might be a kind of step backwards going from EVE to EVN, but I know I'm enjoying EVE all the more because of how much it reminds me of EVN.

I take gangs out when I can (although less atm cause my internet sucks) and any of the other directors can also take out gangs. When a gang if FCed by them we have 100% reimbursement on losses. Any other time any member may take out any gang they choose and do whatever they like without corp reimbursement.

Garmonation 8 shows the ridiculous power of 100 ab tengus. Luckily they are expensive and require skill to fly or they would get nerfed Garmonation just has a couple of fights with 100ab tengus. If you really want to see crazy stuff check out endless subversion's drake 3.0 who is if i'm not mistaken the pioneer of the 100ab tengu(atleast he made a vid with them first :>) Edit: drake 3.0 also has some 100mn ab HAM legion action, which is quite awesome as well
