I got an idea about UMS maps that spell out Build Orders in simple terms.

I set the text to appear about 10 seconds before every action to give time to newer players to execute it.

If there's interest and anyone wants to do a longer opener / build please post it in this thread.
You can use the document Build Orders Spreadsheet or liquipedia.net for inspiration.

I have no idea how far into a build this can be followed, or if it will be helpful to new players.

Nice. First idea that pops in my head: use the "11 pool", "12 hatch", "14 overlord" text style so that you start associating the commands with the supply?

You could also extract exact build orders from pro replays with bwchart (or other apps) and quickly convert them to your message script with a little scripting and a lot of chatgpt.

I pulled this out of some random replay I had laying around, the first number is the time in some internal unit:

I recommend seeing if you can get some people to assist with this from the engineering bay discord.

Long term I think it would be very helpful for the community to be able to plugin a pro-replay and have a build order with timings pasted out and maybe some dummy units at key positions for practice/improvement.

So the idea would be replay --> build order --> pipe into ums --> practice UMS

Its a massive effort that would require a lot of coordination though.

You just need to figure out the factor to convert that internal timing unit to ms, for the wait() command. It doesn't even look like the extracted build-order contains duplicate "build orders"; multiple commands of which only one executes. Then it's very quick to turn that list into the script for SCDMDraft 2.

I excluded the "train" commands from the export, but with those you can also add the unit building commands.

I mean nobody starting out needs ALL build orders. Just 1-2 standard per match (some may even work in other matches). Yeah I'm just throwing it out there. If there's interest I'm sure we can find skilled people who can make it happen.

a suggestion would be to just have the display text constantly display and have it be a checklist with timings
then when a specific building or unit is made change the list

"Waits" triggers i won't not suggest tho
Should use DT(Death timers) along side with hyper triggers.

I believe https://repmastered.icza.net/ does extract BOs with timings, maybe that can be used
