Update 3 months later on the Snuff situation. I took all the pocos in the local area and went on tour when I had good wormholes. Ended up taking some pretty high value ones, barren planets 4j from Jita. Successfully hit Jan, which is the ur dunked (Snuff alts) home system, Aurohunen, Dantumi etc. Those were tough to hold though as they were using supers to take them back and without wormholes were a bit of a commute.
They struck back a few times. Once they rolled through Black Rise and Lonetrek with dreads and reffed every pocos that wasn't theirs in both regions which meant hitting another group called SL0W. Twice they used some merc (or out of alliance alt) multiboxing polarized talos to ref my stuff. They mostly blueballed the timers and I was able to chase the talos guy off with an afterburner harpy vs his 20 talos.
Then they tried their own talos, this time under a blops umbrella. That was pretty funny. I grabbed two harpies again, plus some artynados, and VoV was nearby and showed up with a lach. I dropped the harpies on the talos blob and killed two to kick things off. In classic Snuff fashion they decloaked their rapier to bring in the blops support. I promptly jumped in the artynados and killed the rapier.
Undeterred they decided that with their talos fleet still mostly alive and an overwhelming blops force on grid they could still finish off my pocos. They successfully killed one and started anchoring their own but I'd reached out to SL0W and they managed to scrape together a dozen bombers. I used an indy cyno venture to tackle a 2.5b panther and we took that down, despite them panic bringing in an apostle and despite it not actually being pointed by anyone. I continued poking them and they just stopped trying to defend and started just repping them up with a mino under a blops umbrella, recognizing that there really wasn't much I could do to a mino and that they could just ignore me. I asked around to see if anyone was interested in an untanked mino in space and dropped 30 talos on it. https://zkillboard.com/kill/117307383/ They actually responded extremely quickly and effectively. The moment the talos fleet entered local they rage formed and by the time the talos were on grid their response fleet was together. They brought in a shitload of blops headed by an abyssal/officer fit marshall with fax support. For a month after that they've been a lot quieter and I've mostly left them alone. I joined SL0W because I wanted some blues in the area that I could call on if I tackled something but don't really fly with them ever because they're nullsec and I'm lowsec. The DAWGS corp out of Villasen seem useful neighbours to be friends with though.
Then this last week they woke up and decided that they were going to get back at me by permacamping the SL0W nullsec system and shooting SL0W structures. It's an interesting choice because I don't really think of myself as being in SL0W in any meaningful sense. I don't go to their space, I don't use their structures, I don't go on their defence fleets etc. They've been watching with a certain amount of confusion because they're getting demands like this:

but the SL0W ratting ishtars literally don't know who this KwarK fella is. They’ve never seen me or interacted with me, I’m out in lowsec.

I joined them because I wanted to be able to call on the lowsec pvpers of Villasen when I had a fight and needed someone to point a thing. It's always hilarious when Snuff and other elite pvpers try to actually undock but I can't always exploit them as hard as I'd like because I'm just one man and also not actually that good at manual piloting.

I set it up, baited them onto the field, provided the align and warpin, and did the damage, but I didn't provide the tackle. Having a second player helps a lot there. SL0W in Villasen actually do smallgang pvp stuff as well as roaming and they've got a decent activity base so I figured I'd hijack them.
Snuff deciding to declare war on SL0W out of some belief that we're affiliated is funny but was not my goal. I just wanted to be able to jump onto their comms on discord and demand that people tackle things for me.
SL0W do appear to have joined a coalition which is a bit of an issue for me. We've got a lot of blues now. The previous situation was that I have a lot of people, many of whom were red, that I simply chose not to shoot. My gas program, for example, or Boulder (who I still have set -10). I don't think I need an in game alignment chart to tell me how I feel about people I run into in the Sarenen area, I know how I feel about them. They're either friendly, useful to me, background noise, or targets. If I didn't shoot someone in the past it's because I had a reason to.
Unfortunately most of the old Hatchery crew aren't playing at the moment. It's a real pity because the winter event triggered in Saranen and it's been pretty nuts. The isk/hr on the sites is crazy and the area is swarming with Frat but Saranen has all the hardware we need to farm them.

Teamed up with the DAWGS corp out of Villasen because I'm generally fairly good at finding content but need people to come in and actually do the work. They're US tz so every evening we're just undocking and farming farmers and scrapping with the other groups also farming the farmers.
On the 14th we got 1 zealot, 2 gnosis, 1 porp, 10 skiffs (5.6b), 1 kronos, 1 brutix navy, 1 sleip, and 2 caracal navy. DAWGS also got a random orca on the way home but I wasn't on that mail.
On the 15th another pvp group (Nourv Gate Security Commission) booshed an empty DST of mine off station and killed it with a vargur but then later we caught the vargur and killed it. Plus an ENI and some other things. Bit of an issue with Boulder who is with Nourv Gate but said he wouldn't fire at me and I wouldn't fire at him. We had their vargur dead and he warps in a kronos. I have a keres, sentinel, and 3 nados supporting the dawgs fleet so he's 100% dead if I go for him but I choose to respect the agreement. It'll be me + DAWGS vs the vargur, DAWGS alone vs the kronos. Boulder tried to save his vargur corpmate by killing my ships and if I'd known he was going to do that I'd have TD's him to shit with the sentinel. Problem is that I wanted to give him a chance to kill my fleetmates per the agreement and he used that to kill me. We still got the vargur though and he SRP'd all of mine that he killed and explained he was just following the targets broadcast by his corpmate and didn't notice until later so no harm done. EAFs are an absolute menace in the sites and I'm all about it. We can just log in, fleet up, scatter over the event area and then converge and kill. Baiting/dodging other PvP groups doing the same while we slaughter the event site runners.
A+ would log in again. This is EVE as it is meant to be.

I decided to start playing again about a year ago and this time I joined a null bloc right off the bat to see if the game would stick for me this time. I have been having a great time this year so far (until recently). Big and small bloc fights, getting into capitals, and helping our response umbrella. You may have heard the news about Horde and so we are getting kicked over to Cloud Ring and on my way over I passed through Saranen and saw some names I still recognize! I figured I gotta see how you guys are doing. I may have only played with you guys for a month or so a long time ago but I definitely learned a lot and still follow some Starcraft matches from time to time. You guys still jamming in low sec? I see you've been in and out of some alliances.
We're still roughly in Saranen. 4 semi active players at the moment (viceorvirtue, aeth, mandini, and me). Rengas and orious just resubbed and are doing Thera things, I'm going to try to roam with them as much as possible too. We have decent relations with DAWGS in Villasen too so lots of content local to the area.
CCP have once again randomly chosen saranen as the start point for their winter nexus event. Anyone who wants to play and needs game time/ships let me know and I’ll cover it. Best time of the year for sure.
Seeing this makes me regret how little spare time I currently have trying eve in a proper corp is definitely on my life bucket list, I hope the game wont die until then
Guys like this are the reason I took 100m in seed money in the market and made a couple billion isk in my first month playing the game, and rolled that in several billion a month consistently after that. There's lots of opportunities to beat these guys at their own game, regardless of the amount of isk and liquidity they have. He's got enough isk where he's trying to make 10% returns, which is amazing for his scale, but there's lots of opportunity to use that mindset against them to make even greater returns yourself.
Traveling around the country and occasionally off the continent every once in a while. Youtube still recommends me eve pvp of course, so today I was like, do the liquid forums still exist?
