Don't know if I feel like a B player.. maybe C, C- I almost never 4 gate anymore except on certain maps (FYI before anyone asks or wonders.) That's because these numbers are out of date by quite a lot. 1200 diamond is no longer "top diamond". Not by a long shot.

you realize that todays diamond/1000 ranked ppl are 1500 in 4 weeks because of inflation, without increasing any skill at all?

if youre in the higher ratings of diamond are you a professional? No. Are you AMAZING? Maybe. Are you in the top like 3% of a game with millions of players? Yes. That is a tremendous feat to be in the top 3% of such a huge game. Will you ever be a bonjwa, gosu etc? No, but almost nobody will. I say be proud of your diamond status as must of us are casual players, it's the best we will ever do. Edit: 3% i admittedly pulled out of my ass, point is compared to the general player base you've accomplished quite a lot. Also this by no means advocates players being good, thoughful or educated posters just because they have a high ladder ranking, I'm just trying to cut some people slack who start a thread with "1500 diamond, how to beat XvX" they don't deserve that much shit and knowing someones rating DOES offer more evidence to suggest if you should take said players advice or not.

It's a lot easier to go from silver/bronze to low diamond by watching a few Day9 and GSL videos than it is to go from low diamond to actually being good. Just being in diamond doesn't mean that you understand the game.

even if they made it so that the top tier was .001 percent of people, the next was .005 or so. it would just give something to aspire to for the non-casual gamers who hit diamond and want to reach something more tangible than an ever-inflating point system.

You realize that everyone realizes that right? All you have to do is grab someone's point total, subtract the amount of bonus pool points total, and then add back in the bonus pool points they still haven't used, and voila you get their uninflated point value.

bronze around 40% Silver 20% gold 15-20% plat 10-15% diamond 6-7% Certinly we can all agree that there should be atleast one more league above diamond with say 1-2% of the players. And I do think that above that we should have a proleague of some sort with 0.01 % or something similar. This obsession with ranks by us casuals gets a bit silly when people think they are even close to be of the same cailber as [random pro] just because they share league. I would win 99 times out of 100 against any given bronze-gold player and I would most likely loose 100 out of 100 against any given top player so Id say its a larger step from mid-diamond to the top then from bronze to mid-diamond (ofc, anyone can beat a pro with an unscouted cheese on the right map/positions but lets disregard those circumstances please).

Bronze - 1v1 duels Silver - 5v5 Gold/Platinum - 2v2 Diamond - 3v3 Think of Bronze as these "lowest" level PvP in terms of WoW balance. You then go into 5s, which are clusterfucks, then into 2s which have more balance but still have your most used classes, then you have 3s, which are the most balanced relative to the rest of the matchups. Similar to Arena ratings bell curve, as people play more, their points will go up in their respective leagues until they rank up or their points slow down. In WoW, the top teams are inching slowly past the 3k rating, but the majority will settle between 2.4k-2.7k. We just have to wait out the point inflation.

OP speaks truth, getting to diamond league is where you start learning how to play the game, not where you're good. You can be 1k+ (at the moment) without a solid understanding of the matchups, just having some strong openers/blind transitions, not even counting all-in play. To look at it another way, I was diamond the day I bought SC2. You can't argue that I knew a thing about the game at that point, or was even 'good'.
