Actually I wonder what's the new idea about the original post?

1. I do not think there is any Forum that protects the pro player form any insults as much as TL. People here already respect them or get kicked.
2. We are here on a Clan Forum and u can be sure that the real pro players inside this Clan have their talk lines. If they do that over some massenger only or in a hidden thread here doesnt matter.
3. For all the other people they have the public forum where we are writing in. In the strategy talks player usually add their ranking or noone will take them serious. Im saying that as a high gold player who has to be very careful which information to trust.

So the thing im wondering about is: if you want a place where only people of a higher ranking can talk in, why dont u create that? Either u just open a thread here with that rule or just open a forum somewhere and advertise it in the specific thread here on TL?

It's not entirely an issue of 'only above X should post', but a question of knowing your position.

If you're not a good player, recognize that and don't act as an authority figure. Other players who take your advice should also take note of this and not treat it as gospel. Pre-SC2 the lines were pretty clearly drawn as to whether you were capable because the ranking system was far more accurate, and the smaller userbase meant players of rank were respected and more familiar.

The overall message of the OP is that you, that is the generic diamond poster (not you, Cyuss, this is a generality), are bad. If you have to ask 'at what diamond level are you not bad', then you are still bad. Stop acting otherwise with 'I'm 1k diamond' or whatnot, because that only confuses newer users into trusting you and degrades the reliability of the strat forum.

I'm 1300 now and I predict that I would be C now in Iccup (had i kept playing, was D+/borderline C-). No way 1300 is B, UPDATE comparisons plox.

I got more Bronze than George Hamilton, and even I approve of this progame invite only filter.

Don't worry about any impact on image. You don't see pro futbol players sorting through tweets for post mortem game analysis do you? Besides, us scrubs still got youtube and replays for our beloved armchair coaching.

I don't see how having invite-only threads for high-level discussion would alienate lower-level players. It'd be like a podcast discussion between the same players but in a different medium. It certainly doesn't take away a bronze player's ability to comment on the discussion; Johnny Bronze would just make his comment in the public thread about the invite-only thread, as he would in a thread about a high-level discussion podcast.

I don't usually post or like to voice all my comments as a high level gold player (won't get promoted *sigh*) but I really agree with you on your point. As a zerg player, I've learnt to be reactive. Sure I have build orders, but usually these build orders are done in order to counter whatever my opponent has, and I know exactly why they counter as well. Sometimes I find myself mid-game with the weirdest army composition and I think "I've never seen this composition done by a pro player, but it counters what my opponent has exactly" and I win because of that fact. I think that people who try to dictate the flow of a game by pulling all-ins (e.g. baneling bust, MM push/Marine tank push, 4gate) are just playing to win. You won't see too many of these players in the higher leagues. (Not saying that higher leagues don't pull all-ins, they do. But you'll see them do it much better because they have a deep understanding of themselves and their opponents). I'd like to see more of this type of post in future OP and I'm looking forward to reading more =d

As someone who has never really played a RTS game outside of using codes against comp in SC->BW, CC. When i discovered TL.net I found it really educational on what to look for in build orders and in game strategies. Sure the top tier level players might have someone who does not have the knowledge/understanding of the game question everything they say, but that should not stop them from voicing their opinions if they do indeed have anything meaningful to say. I am here to learn not just win but if someone only focuses on winning well that is their right.

1300 was B back when you and I were at like 1000

yeah you'd be surprised if you watch some of the replays from diamond players too, like honestly there's this constant 20 APM terran that had 20 scvs the whole game and is like rank 1 of some division. a lot of the diamond players are players that cheese every game too. there's no real point in being in diamond anymore. people can get up to 1400 if they really want to by cheese. diamond is pretty much D+ to C- in iccup ranking terms and of course there are exceptions.

I beat 1300 players left and right with Zerg...and I was D+ on ICCUP. I think a D- player can easily get above 1k points now O.o.

Points are really really easy to get now, and terrible people can get plenty of points knowing only one build and none of the core basic mechanics.

I don't think the points will really point to who is good until the game has been out for a few more months.

I'm really not fond of the bonus pool... non-stop inflation just seems bad, even if it's a 'nicer' version of XP decay.

In a couple months, when you say "I was a X point player," you won't even know what that means anymore relative to the amount of points people have because of bonus pool.

Kinda makes me feel sad I don't have enough time in a day to really sit down and get a lot of matches out =\.

I get my ranking up so that SC2 ranks.com tells me I'm top 6,000, then i have to not play for a few days due to scheduling. Mainly weekends I play but I think i'm a lot better than most 1,000 diamonds. Oh well. This inflation of points is ridiculous. After like 3 days I go from top 6,000 to being top 11,000 because I didn't play a game.

Pretty accurate imo, qxc. 1000-1100 random diamond user here and was c+ almost b- iccup when i transitioned.. most diamond users hit somewhat of a wall around 900 it seems and after that you really gotta grind out your skills..

600-950 diamond D+/C-
950-1100 diamond C-/C
1100-1300 diamond C/C+

all people do on the ladders is cheese anyway... spamming games will get you high ratings so it isn't really showing any real skill...

Playing with practice partners is much better because you can actually discuss the game,
you guys get my point ;p

No where near accurate. 1600+ A+?! LOL. I'm 1650 right now and I never got past 1200 points on iCCup, not even close. I think this whole thread is not relavent because of the skill differences between the game. Grant it I have gotten better since I played iCCup but if I logged on now I would not get past D+ (which I would be lucky to get in the first place) I know this is just my story but still I think the iCCup comparison to SC2 is not relevant especially your ranking system.
