This ended up being pretty long, proceed with caution. Don't want anyone's mind blowing up from the great strategies.
Starting with terran "basic strats."
"It's usually a good idea to build at least two Armories (they are very cheap) and you might want to build three to upgrade faster."
We've all been there. Upgrading our tank force with our two armories and thinking "Well fuck, my Battlecruisers will be weak and unupgraded when they pop out." What we should have been doing was just building a third armory, presumably off one gas.
"In island maps, [...] You can also fly Barracks over early in the game and build a few Marines on different islands to secure them before the enemy is able to transport troops to them."
I guess this is why island maps were removed from pro play. Zergs would have their mutas out and keep getting owned by random barracks with about 4 marines beside them. What could anybody really do when there are marines on an island?
"You can even use buildings to scout the map if you have enough time on your hands, or send them over the enemy's town to confuse or annoy them."
Pretty understandable. You're in your base making probes and such when an engineering bay flies in. I'm sure it would be pretty hard to avoid having an aneurysm here.
"Sometimes you might want to use one building and switch between add-on buildings. This can be handy if you're trying to save some money and, for instance, want to alternate between building Ghosts and Battlecruisers."
As we know, saving money is our main concern when we're pumping out Battlecruisers and Ghosts for nukes.
Ideal building placement. As we know, it is important to manner depot/bunker yourself so that gas is tighter for your ghost/BC build that usually transitions from the standard "3 bunker in main" build.
Moving on to Terran Advanced Strategy (!!!)
"A devastating strategy if not defended against is the air drop. Take a Dropship full of 8 Firebats [...]"
No jokes here, this sounds fucking awesome.
"Build a Barracks. Build another Depot, and a second Barracks. Continue making more SCVs, Supply Depots, and build another two Barracks to bring the total to four."
Blizzard advocating an incredibly filthy cheese. Also, you need to keep building SCVs and upgrade stim, range, and +1. All while pumping marines from four barracks. Is this Fastest Possible Map?
Now let's learn how to play the different match ups.
Terran vs Terran
"Use Ghosts to Lockdown enemy Tanks, Defensive Matrix your own Tanks to make them last longer against enemy Tanks"
With this you need to be careful. If your opponent is as gosu as you, they will be doing the same thing. Their vessels will detect your ghosts and the tanks will shoot them before they can lockdown. Or the vessel can emp/irradiate you.
"If you get attacked by Cloaked Wraiths, move Marines into the area, StimPack them and use ComSat to reveal the cloaked Wraiths."
Frankly, this is the only way to stop wraiths. Make sure you get your stim nice and early so you can defend. Also, " it's very important to have several Bunkers protecting your SCVs mining."
"When fighting other Siege Tanks, it's VERY important to have range on them, meaning you can see and fire on them before they fire on you. This means using the ComSat Station or other units such as Dropships to reveal the enemy for your Siege Tanks to fire. Quite often Terran vs Terran games become Tank wars. It is up to you to have MORE Tanks than the enemy and use them more effectively by taking advantage of high ground, and further sight/firing through the use of spotters."
This is just silly, blizzard needs to stop messing around.
"They might have wanted to Irradiate some Marines or Ghosts or Reveal and EMP them"
Called it.
Terran vs Protoss
"On SCV #7, build a Barracks.
With SCV #8, build a Supply Depot.
Build a Bunker that will cover your SCVs mining Minerals and all your other buildings. (Building a very tightly packed town is important here)
Fill up your Bunker with 4 Marines then continue on with a normal building order."
This is how to defend early zealot pressure. Be careful not to over react though. Also note that this is the "offensive" way to deal with zealots. The defensive way is identical.
"A great way to surprise the enemy is to send a group of cloaked Wraiths to attack enemy Probes"
Genius. It goes on to mention that you should cloak your wraiths if the toss is a hacker and somehow has dragoons.
"If the Protoss send Observers to detect your Wraiths, quickly ComSat the area, find the Observer, and kill it with the Wraiths."
Hiya?
"Lockdown the Reaver if you can."
Only use this if your wraith fleet didn't manage to stop the reaver on time.
Terran vs Zerg
"Make use of Bunkers for both offense and defense. After you win a battle, move outside the enemy town and build Bunkers. Bunker your way into your town."
I thought this was standard? Do you really need to tell us that?
"[Y]ou are going to need 5-7+ Barracks to build enough Marines to stop them"
ARE YOU SHITTING ME? To be fair, I think this one might be two base. I hope so anyway.
"With Terrans it's easy to sit back and do nothing"
Fuck you Blizzard.
"Use Wraiths against Queens, as Battlecruisers are often too slow"
Good thinking. Trying to counter their queens with BCs would just be silly...
"and once you have a fleet of Battlecruisers Mutalisks will quickly fall before you."
Battlecruisers are clearly for Mutalisks.
" Destroying the Drones is also an option, but if the enemy has multiple towns, it will be more damaging to lose the Hydralisk Den as the other Hatcheries at other resource spots can still bring the money in."
Zerg doesnt really need drones. Just target the hydra den, much more important.
"The ultimate offense against the Zerg is a large fleet of Battlecruisers. To pull this off you need 2-3 Starports building Battlecruisers (3 or more is preferable), and build 2 Armories to upgrade both Ship Weapons and Armor at the same time. You will also need 2-3 Gas geysers. You can get by on only one if you do not spend any Gas at all except on the two Marine upgrades at the Academy and on buildings."
Thats right, one base, 3 port Battlecruisers. Everyone get on US East right now and enjoy.
Blocking one of your mineral patches will help keep your mineral/gas ratio closer.
Well there we go, that's how you play terran. I'll do the other races another time because it turns out that blizzard had a lot more amazing strats than I thought they did.
