Not sure where you got that statement from. Most gay people I know don't wear earrings but I know several straight people who do. If you live in Japan you should have seen plenty of guys wearing earrings without being gay.

never tried black or white earrings. ive had the same one for about ~8 years or so now? a simple silver sleeper in my left ear.

I have both my ears pierced. I have small gold studs in each ear. I'm sure it gives some kind of impression to anyone I meet -- but I don't notice any significant difference in the way I'm treated.

absolutely not. earrings on dudes is too preppy-ish/guido-ish/douchebag-ish. even if you do not fall within any of those categories, most people will still look at you in that way, and with good reason. every guy i know who has a pierced ear is a tool. people always said i could "pull off" an eyebrow piercing, which I think is a little less lame than a pierced ear, but I'm starting to volunteer at hospitals and clinics and I want to be viewed as something more than just a punk kid.

Bogans, hippies, homosexuals, metrosexuals, tour guides, some entire cultures and protoss revolutionist men all seem to pull it off ok.

I don't have any problem with it of course, but I can't say I find piercing all that attractive on women either (though I have to make an exception for earrings, or i'd never get anywhere).
