So for my birthday, my friend bought me Black earrings. (I clean my ears with contact solution, anyone else do this?)
Just curious if having earrings has impacted the way you are perceived. [Job/teachers, etc]
On a relevant note, what are the pro/cons of black vs white earrings. My rationale of black was it would match my hair color (i'm azn), but some people have told me it only looks good if i'm well dressed, and I look like a dumb nerd when I dress down.

More like a piercing instead of earrings. On both ears?
|
no i don't i don't like the thought of my flesh being piereced
|
I suggest you remove any ear rings/piercings when you go to work or when you're trying to make a "responsible" impression. I know that most people wouldnt hire a person with pirecings here in Japan. Guess it depends on where you live though.

No, and I don't think they look good on men as well. One of the very few things I've always disliked Bisu for. -_-;;

It's ok to wear for people that like to have sex with a man's butt.
|
i had one pierced when i was younger, but didn't take care of it well enough so the piercing got slightly infected so i took it out afterward. i enjoy having piercings so i might end up doing it again at some time, but aside from my already pierced eyebrow there are other ones i want to get before considering my ears again.

100% no in professional settings, assuming you're in a traditional workplace.
|
No, because I'm not a woman.
And don't like to have sex with a man's butt.
And disapprove of self-mutilation.

lol, love the thread title. there's probably like 5 girls total who post on this site.

I refuse to come near any male wearing earrings. Only losers or total queens wear them in Holland.

Please guys, don't wear earrings. Of any color.

lol you people are simply hilarious aren't you

some guys pull it off nicely. post a pic?

I have a piercing on my right ear.

Relax man, i wasn't even that serious.
I know that it's common as hell here, sometimes guys over here look more feminine than the women.

It's also ok to wear if you're a 13-18 year old douchebag in training.

earrings? the kind that dangle?
|
I personally think any kind of piercing on anyone looks terrible. But whatever floats your boat I guess.
|
never tried black or white earrings. ive had the same one for about ~8 years or so now? a simple silver sleeper in my left ear.
tbh i can understand why people dont want a gun to shoot metal through their earlobes though + Show Spoiler +
|
I have both my ears pierced. I have small gold studs in each ear. I'm sure it gives some kind of impression to anyone I meet -- but I don't notice any significant difference in the way I'm treated.
|
I guess earrings for men are ok ... if you happen to be jonas brothers
|
|
No I wouldn't wear earrings. Just personal prefference. On a sidenote, did you know that jewelery was made for men to wear it?
|
absolutely not. earrings on dudes is too preppy-ish/guido-ish/douchebag-ish. even if you do not fall within any of those categories, most people will still look at you in that way, and with good reason. every guy i know who has a pierced ear is a tool. people always said i could "pull off" an eyebrow piercing, which I think is a little less lame than a pierced ear, but I'm starting to volunteer at hospitals and clinics and I want to be viewed as something more than just a punk kid.
|
I rather mainline drano then be caught dead wearing earrings.

men shouldn't wear jewelry aside from a watch or wedding band

No support? I want plug earrings except I'm not gonna be able to cover up the hole in professional setting.

no because i'm not an attention bitch

Bogans, hippies, homosexuals, metrosexuals, tour guides, some entire cultures and protoss revolutionist men all seem to pull it off ok.
I don't have any problem with it of course, but I can't say I find piercing all that attractive on women either (though I have to make an exception for earrings, or i'd never get anywhere).

haha. And no I don't wear any earrings. Although piercings might look good on the right people.

All the holes in my ears are clogged up again now. If I tried to force a stud in, you think it'd hurt? I havent tried in a few years now. And yeah, I thought I looked SUPER COOOLLLL

No, I do not wear an earring. Never thought about it. As Carlin once said, the squares are wearing them now.

I do agree. The only except (and this is rare) is the naval piercing on girls. But she has to be ridiculously hot, not too big of a jewel, and even then have the right shape to pull it off. Cause some hot girls with it dont look right. And here in NorCal there are jawdropping hot chicks everywhere, especially during summer when you go to the rivers & lakes.
Ok, sorry for getting kinda off topic.

Agreed. And to be honest, I never thought they looked all that great on women either, especially when they are ridiculously big.
But of course, it is up to each person individually if they want to wear them or not. If it makes them feel happy, then sure I guess.
|
I don't dislike the way they look and I thought about plugs for a while, but I don't care enough to actually get my ears pierced. If dudes wanna wear earrings/whatever, power to them.

birthday?......... -_-
msn it

Its all about gauges, they are the man earring.

clearly, people with earrings suck.
stop overinterpreting things. its just earrings. anyone can wear them and it doesnt suddenly change the character of the person. id hate to dress up for a job just because some people think im less suited to do my work otherwise (customers and superior alike). screw them.
i dont wear any of them anyways, because i always feel like stuff like that makes one vulnerable to attacks/injury. its easier to rip someones skin when theres something to grab on. would love to get one otherwise though.

I think they look good on some people.
|
Wow, people take earrings way too seriously. All this childish hate and over interpreting for a fucking piece of jewelry.
|
lot of employers don't like that. If I was an employer, I would look down on people with earrings. just makes life easier to judge people on their fashion choices. but really, its true. its heuristics, we can't help it.

I'm surprised by the way people act, and how they look, way too often to judge them by a piece of metal or plastic less than an inch in length in their own ear. I tend to try something logical, like judging them by how they act.
|
I would never do it because I hate the whole idea behind piercings but I think they can look good on some people. Guy's have alot harder time pulling it off though.
|
make it subtle. no shinyness please.
|
sassy you never on when I on nigga.
When I mean earrings, I mean studs. The kind I have are very similar to Tasteless's.
And to the above comment, I agree sparkle is kind of gay. But it's kind of hard to stop them from sparkling if they have grooved etches and you are in the light.

As long as you can rock it, you can wear it.

If you're working in a traditional/formal office environment I'm sure it would be frowned upon, and may be against the work dress code etc.
In public situations in general, or in school at any public and most private universities I can't imagine them being a problem. Some people might be douchebags about how they interpret them, but you can't avoid some negative judgments no matter what you do.

I was referring to the big, fake diamond earrings that preppy/guido/douchebags get. Like this guy
![[image loading]](http://www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com/uploaded_images/DBOldFriend-714128.jpg)
I know about 8 guys off the top of my head from my high school that had these kind of earrings and they were all douchebags. So sue me if I start to make the association that dudes with diamond studded earrings are going to be douchebags. Besides everyone stereotypes. Everyone passes judgment on a first impression. You're a liar if you say you've never done that. It's just how the brain works. If you know a lot of people that dress and act a certain way and you meet someone new that dresses like the others, you'll expect them to act like the others too.
Regardless, I wasn't talking about black earrings/plugs. They are definitely more punk than anything. I actually completely forgot that they even existed. When I think of earrings on guys, I think of the diamond stud. Nevertheless, I still wouldn't get them done because I think they don't look good on guys and the people with massive gauges look so weird.
|
.... i have earrings
|
It's an accessory. Looks good on some people but not on others.
|
I don't wear earrings but I don't really care if some guy does. As long as they're not some shiny diamonds or something alike
|
no, it decreases manliness.
no condescension here really.. it's just.. if you are say 70% to ultimate manliness this will give you -10%.
