Would like to hear from a Protoss on how it's done, must be like hold position as soon as the mine is popping up. You can bind custom hotkeys now in SCR right? Maybe this guy is binding hold position on his mouse which might make something like this easier.

Maybe this guy is binding hold position on his mouse which might make something like this easier. I mean, the reason I'm sure is because I've seen it done before. It could be the mine glitching too that caused it. I think it's essentially a combination of the dark templar one hitting the mine before it blows up. Much like cracklings killing mines late game before the blow up. In the video, the dark templar got close to the mine before it unburrowed. I could be wrong but I think both mines should've unburrowed much earlier than in the video so essentially, dt walks in, mines unburrow within the attack range, get killed before they blow up. Edit: On November 08 2006 04:56 Legionnaire wrote: T_T afaik i invented the dt vs mines 3 years ago when i was in POS. I actually had a UMS to practice it on, bejjang kept telling me i was wasting my time, but i thought it was fun Always wanted to win a game by using dts/obs vs mines in a tv match but i never had the opportunity. You will notice that attacking from a diagonal position, mines pop up a lot earlier, but not from directly on the side, or if the dts a fraction above it. There is also a way to do it with attacking the mines. Pretty useless if there are multiple mines around :S Angle of attack is important so might make sense here.

I don't remember if it was just A-move or if you had to use hold position to get a faster attack.

Edit: I apologize for my race of choice. that would make no sense. If the game lags, every unit lags the same, it's not like the DT is out of the game engine. On August 16 2017 13:16 BigFan wrote: Yep, you can. I think it's extremely difficulty to do but it's possible, I'm sure of that. What you are talking about is sniping mines that are revealed by an observer. It's done by inching closer to the mine, by simply using the move command, and waiting for the DT to automatically acquire the target. EDIT: Hm, actually Kwarks video shows it can be done without obs too. But still, in that video Kwark knows where the mines are, and moves the DT just to the right spots. The second one I'm sure he also got lucky with a-moving but you could possibly walk up to the mine and hold position or something?

I remember doing this. It's pretty fucking hard and you need to know where the mines are (roughly is fine, you just need the right angle, you could zig zag through a minefield and it'd work, even if you didn't know exactly where). But probably no harder than using dancing dragons to move through a minefield. A dt has nonzero range, if you combine that with the right angle and the hold command you can trigger an attack before the mine detonates. However if you tell it to attack a mine it'll walk up until it's on top of the mine, then start the attack animation, and that's no good.
