I was up late and I started watching some old newbie tuesdays. I learn by repetition over time. So, I would watch these when I was in Bronze and Silver once a week. Just go through a couple every other day out of the ones that were on basics like Hotkey, basic making shit, mouse control, etc. I have been having the problem where I am feeling like I can't keep up with myself. I need to say that macro and macro games have always been my strongest points. So, I have noticed that I have been learning to macro while I engage. I don't mean, OH FUCK I am running low on units!!!!" I mean I will micro and cycle micro and cycle, constantly checking for buildings not doing stuff (take this with a grain of salt, I am a plat terran). I have never been good at micro. I am good at macro cause I suck at micro.
I was watching Day9 Daily Newbie Tuesday #252 - may he rest in pepperonis - and it was showing me some basic don't box click shit type of stuff. Oh my gosh. I tried to do something as basic as don't box, click. And, I couldn't freakin do it. I am garbage at mouse precision. I constantly overshoot stuff. I knew that it was bad, but it has been enough for now. I want to become good. So, I can't be good if I aim for a gas geyser and click Timbuktu. I quickly realized that this could fix a lot of problems. Also, in regards to not being able to keep up with myself, I am having to relearn to use army hotkeys. My coach was helping me out with engagements and he noticed I was always doing F2 a lot. I made it to where I only click it because I use f1 - 5 as my camera hotkeys. Well, I stop doing that... and pretty much everything else XD.
The problem is I will macro macro macro and then be like "FUCK I HAVE NOTHING ON HOTKEY" I need base defense, marines in that are vision points, or I am doing a drop while I engage. I don't like using the f2 key anymore because it fucks everything up for me doing good stuff. So I will not do that rally, not have anything on hotkey, but my original army. So I got 30 something supply in army off to the side havin a wank and I will just look at my hotkey tab just dropping. "FFUUUUCKKK!! WHERE THE FUCK IS MY ARMY!!!" Enemy walks straight into them and I am like "oh... sick!" and I win the game on a total accident. Yeah I don't know why I wrote this, but a did at 2am.
Found this a little later after writing this, may help with mouse acc. Its in russian so you'll you have to translate.

Regarding mouse precision, have you switched off mouse acceleration? I found it required some re-learning after switching, but I felt a lot more comfortable at high speed after a while. I am ranked below you though, so well...
For mechanics in general, like micro-macro cylces etc, I found it very efficient to train at low speed at first, and gradually speed up. So I just start up games without opponent, build up a few bases and a bit of an army, and then go through the cycles as I would do in a real game. Like
1) send army somewhere 2) do macro cycle (including re-hotkeying new units), using correct mechanics, hotkeys, clink-not-box, etc. Go slow if needed, but do it right. include drop-micro in the cycle if you want. 3) catch army. see how far it went. 4) repeat.
Just do it over and over, going as slow as you need to do everything in the right way. Dont do any (NOT ANY!) bad habbits such as clicking on minimap instead of camera hotkeys, etc. Even if it means you have to go silly slow at first, do it right. It'll come.
Then as you repeat, doing this over and over you will learn muscle memory with the correct mechanics, and you will slowly be able to increase speed. Do it a bit before every gaming session to remind your hands what they should do.
So again, while I am ranked below you, this is the way I learned to use camera hotkeys, and it feels sooo natural now, and I can't understand how I ever played without them. I still suck, but my injects and drone transfers are on point! I think you can do a similar thing with your bad habbits that you want to re-learn.

Day9 has unhumanly mouse precision I think. It comes from being nerd for years, playing lots of games everyday for hours, using computer for a long time. It's not an easy skill to acquire by training. Unless you are paid for it, you can't train for it
There was no F2 hotkey in Wol so it was among first things I did to unbind it when I installed hots. I just have a habit of assigning units to groups right when they pop up. It might be easier for me because I play protoss. There are 2 different building methods:
1) warp in bunch of units from gateways and assign them to main army. 2) for terran like structures, such as robo or stargate, put the waypoint on a unit. For example, put robo waypoint onto an existing colossus so the new colossus joins the army wherever it is. Periodically, box select main army and shift add them to main group so there won't be unassigned units in it. you can use this with terran. Plus, you can shift hotkey multiple units/locations in case that waypointed unit dies, new units go to second unit.
For whatever reason if I have a separate small group from my main army, I assign them to an unused hotkey. For example, couple of stalkers to defend drops assigned to 4 etc. When I don't need them anymore, press 4, shift add to main army.

F2 ruined my life. I put spotter zerglings on watchtowers, have overseers ready to scout bases, lings ready to runby... Then I press F2 and eeeeeveryone runs back to whatever stupid location I clicked.
I'm going to unbind it now, and play some unranked games to get used to it. It's a bad habit.
(funny thing: I used to never ever use it. I think I had it rebound to get it out of the way, even. But somehow I started using it and now I can't do without. The F2 key is addictive like methamphetamine. Bad habit!)

I have it unbound yet I'm still addicted as fuark, you just sort of click it instead of pressing a key.
Only thing that made it slightly better, is to force yourself to shift add to control group like in the good old days.

Its because its easier than resetting your hotkeys to update with your army count.
