Hi everyone. The moderation staff have noticed a sharp increase in the frequency of twitch "emotes" being used on TeamLiquid. This basically covers things like Kappa, Kreygasm, FrankerZ etc. (which produce emotes within twitch chat) as well as Dendiface, DogFace and so on (which are twitch memes that don't produce emotes). While we have tolerated these for a while, we've decided that it's time to curb this trend and as such the usage of twitch "emotes" on TL is now a bannable offense. This isn't really a change in policy, as the Ten Commandments state:
Memes, even TL ones, are annoying. Don't 1a2a3a your way to posting over 9000 memes -- we will ban you. There are plenty of places to go if you want to see posters of people failing at things or a humorous caption appended to a photograph of a cat. TeamLiquid is not one of those places. But as we haven't been moderating it thus far we feel like a heads up is called for.
We will add notes to LR threads for the next few weeks to alert posters that this is not acceptable and ban people who are posting twitch "emotes" in those threads. When we see people doing this outside of LR threads we will be sending the user a PM alerting them to the fact that this is now actionable; and in a few weeks we will be warning/banning for their use. The Ten Commandments will be updated to reflect this.

I really just want to say "kappa" and act like an annoying troll. But thank you TL for doing this. It gets really annoying. Now if only the b.net forums would be moderated more..

I have no idea what these are because I, like any sane person, block twitchchat, but if they are as annoying as they sound, good riddance.

I've always understood Kappa as the much needed remark for sarcasm on the internet (since the look implies it). But it's overused so much nowadays that I'm fully supporting your move.
