if you receive money for goods or services (such as from selling an item on eBay), the fee for each transaction is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you receive So a €1 donation turns into like 70 cent in Euros, unless the flat .30 $ equates to € that way, in which it becomes like 50cents xD | ||

I would like to make a plea for the one. While there have been very few advances in "gaming social practices" in the last decade, the streaming has "dictated" its pace and axioms to our arguable general benefit. Is a twitch chat cancer? No. Does tl need to allow any random number of emotes for those reason? No. However, the emote that tops them all (in quantity without argument but possibly in quality too) should be awarded a tl existence. Of course if the purpose is to display the emote there is no discussion to be had, it is clearly wrong. But writing the letters without the fear of reprisal, awarding the word its due, to use it in a context where no other word could be used seems like something tl should do. Edit:  | ||

Edit: It is my belief that any Twitch emote that could be used to describe a particular emotion or concept can be explained in normal English well enough to not need the emote, even if the idea conveyed is not as potent or relatable when put in normal text format. For instance, when we see someone use Kappa, or Kreygasm, or PJSalt, we all understand the general idea of why that emote was posted and how it relates to the content being displayed. However, if that much is understood, surely we can translate our emotional ties to these emotes into proper sentence structure that's more conducive to discussion on an Internet forum. Sure, emotes like Kappa have a certain je ne sais quoi that can't really be matched by words typed out to indicate sarcasm or irony... but because we can do it well enough, we ought to simply disallow emotes to discourage spammy posting behavior. TeamLiquid as a discussion forum and Twitch chat as a real-time barometer of public opinion of a stream are two very different forms of media; communication methods used in one do not necessarily fit the other, despite both being Internet-based. Keep the emotes on Twitch where they are most useful in engaging other content viewers on a moment-to-moment basis. TL is not the place for that. | ||

That emote for me (I'm sure not for everyone and even for few) means "I want to be here!" How could you convey any better than with this purposefully absurd way of showing attachment, without the other people being able to find fault with the statement (since you added the emote) that you are happy to be here (maybe without knowing that that is the case, maybe not having any idea of what you are doing). Ergo the statement is just "hi" in essence (possibly the text beside it is not). Again, I wasn't advocating any number, just the one to signify that we are in 2015 not 2010. .. Kreygasm, or PJSalt .. 3 would even be more in tune with the 2015 numerology though, I admit to total "newbiness" in the matter. I never use "krey" because it is so "suspect" that if you couple it with text it can be construed as so many stuff... I never spread salt outside of my plate, in this case it is more because I see it as "standard" but on the negative spectrum and I feel there are already more than too many "righteous" "salters" (if a streamer is salty one can call her/him/it on it, while it is fair game, it doesn't take much to pass on it quickly and to make it fun rather than spam). But I do believe your point was that it is 1/"totally" understandable situational emotes required to not be "permissive" 2/"stuff" not conveyable with words or lessened by being in text that would make an emote "acceptable" 3/stream chat is not a forum 3/ is a given TWITCH emote and their place on TL 1/is arguable forever So, about 2/  Yes I do think pictures meant to capture the zeitgeist of a particular "universe" (in our case using forums) should be allowed to add to the layering of our content. Again, I am advocating for one. Not awaiting flying monkeys, just trying to get what everybody would associate with the first? What does Kappa mean? TLDR: I am not even sure what Kappa means for everyone, how could I use it? ps: I will wait for a response from anyone before I do my spiel of answering my own question. pps: I love the thread tittle, "their place on tl" is in this thread, ..so layered, so funny! | ||
