WTF. Fuck you... my fucking point was that people criticize your power ranks more than they should, because you have to spend a lot of time explaining your decisions to people. I have posted defending and commending your power ranks in the past, so I'm not sure how you decided that I was criticizing you this time.
But you're right.... I, who think that your ranks are very solid, have been criticized for lack of game knowledge. So maybe they are full of shit after all, because what do I know.

Wow, this thing should be called the Biased Rank. Luxury above Stork and Sea ranked? wow..
Bisu gets killed left and right to timing hydra attacks--he's still too good. Stork defends several hydra timing attacks--dammit lux! you're handling him free games!
Stork's PvZ has improved a bit. He scouts a lot better now, which leads to him being able to defend from Luxury's ling/hydra timing attacks. On top of that he's able to read Luxury's builds and come up with appropriate responses. The Stork that died to Jaedong's muta/scourge timing now builds two Stargates and makes enough cannons.

Kal deserves a boost.
He definitely wasn't a "2nd-tier" player today.

Maybe he got Yarnc to play for him???
Very disappointing. Stork didn't even play better than usual, Luxury just handed him the games. Guess who ain't making the Power Rank next month! When exactly has Lux shown strong ZvP recently? He's always been a beast in ZvZ and ZvT, but he's only played 5 games of ZvP in the last 5 months (and just ONE game in Feb). Let's take a look at his last 5 ZvPs: Winning vs. Ra is a given (didn't watch). The game vs Bisu was a 5-pool on Troy. The win vs. Much was from a retarded 1-base all-in build by Much that he fucked up by attempting to ferry units directly into Lux's base and getting caught. A loss vs. Anytime. Finally, the win vs. Stork was a speed-ling break with Stork making only 2 cannons, so it's entirely his fault for losing. 5 games in 5 months is hardly enough to judge a player's skill in a matchup. Basically, I've never seen Lux's mid to late game ZvP. He always tries to decide the game early on (probably to mask his historically weak ZvP) and this has brought him some success. It's not that Lux suddenly "lost it" in the OSL semis (I'm sure he practiced a shit-ton for it), it's just that he's showing his true colors in a Bo5. the fact that the matchup is ZvP is not as important as the fact that Luxury basically handed stork all three of his wins. He was playing great before this series, and in this series he played like a fucking newb. Its not that "his ZvP is not his best matchup", its that he played fucking BAD. My point was that Lux masked his "fucking newb" PvZ in the past few months by doing all-in builds. Whenever that happens, it mostly comes down to how well the P defends the all-in through scouting and/or building sufficient defense rather than the Z's skill. Now, in this case, Lux's builds actually get scouted by Stork repeatedly, so it appears like he's handing him the games even when he hasn't played all that differently from his past wins.

Just a note to say well done on taking the effort to produce Power Ranks on a monthly basis.
In my opinion, your Power Ranks are very well done, but have a slight subjectiveness to it. This can be argued all day and night long, but hey, just trying to make a point.
For me, I like to go by ELO. Just like in chess. Of course, doesn't make your Power Ranks any less entertaining! Keep it up!
Current ELO standings, based on TLPD:
1. (Z)Jaedong 2292 pts (Peak: 2309) 2. (P)Stork 2247 pts (Peak: 2280) 3. (T)Flash 2234 pts (Peak: 2234) 4. (P)Anytime 2226 pts (Peak: 2235) 5. (T)Sea 2208 pts (Peak: 2239) 6. (P)Bisu 2188 pts (Peak: 2245) 7. (P)Much 2177 pts (Peak: 2199) 8. (Z)Luxury 2169 pts (Peak: 2193) 9. (P)Kal 2160 pts (Peak: 2181) 10.(T)Mind 2156 pts (Peak: 2178)

the ELO is a great way to see how people are performing over the course of their career, its one of the more interesting things we have at TL

Interesting, the top 10 in ELO are all in the top 10 of the power rank.

its kind of offtopic but I wanted to ask what do you think of bisu and savior ... I mean the guys are acting like biggest friends or just say buddies. Just watched the bnet attack with Bisu and his chat in the end with Savior surprised me, its seems to me they are not rivals at all. In fact they were testing sc2 playing each other, and the fact Savior offered himself as a practice partner to Bisu for the MSL S3 final says much. I thought the guys just respect each other... Hope Savior could make it back in the biggest stage

Anytimes PvZ is and has always been better than Storks PvZ.

I fully expect Flash to be on top of the April power rank as well.

I know but I didn't want to mention that in the thread and give advance notice to the unsuspecting TL newbies :p

Jaedong should be no. 1 unless Flash (or other) surpasses his ELO

Its a great way to show how they have done over the course of their career not right now. Flash dominated Stork to win OSL althought Jaedong looked good against Kal. Biggest happenings will be Lux moving way down and Stork too probably.
|
Nah ELO is real reliable - good reflection of the last 10 games or so. If you go on a 10 game winning streak against people above you, trust me, your ELO will be near top 10 at least.
For example, if Flash were to play Jaedong and 3-0 him, he'd most likely overtake Jaedong's ELO. (Flash's ELO would rise dramatically, while Jaedong's would take a dive).
But if Flash were to play Nada now and own him 3-0, there wouldn't be a big change in ELO.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
|
I thought the thing about ELO here is that it awards points for wins based on the ELO peak of the opposing player, as opposed to their current ELO? Although what you said would be more realistic.
|
Until Jaedong has a definitive answer to Flash's mech or Flash's play takes a dive, Flash isn't going anywhere from the 1# slot. Well, unless Stork makes another comeback (unlikely) or Bisu returns to form and rips them both in half.
No-one else who could conceivably challenge the two atm and no matches to demonstrate it coming up fast.

I don't think Jaedong needs a definitive answer to Flash's mech. Mech is incredibly situational in tvz and, right now, is a katrina-only thing.
The #1 player should have to be overtaken by someone below them in order to lose their position. On the other hand, I don't think that breaking even with Jaedong should've put Flash in the #1 spot to begin with.
