as for "the best a man can get" it is no doubt innovation. that didn't last for very long but he wiped the floor with everyone. for "mr. consistency" of course it's mvp. i dunno. i think Life and Taeja at peak are as impressive as Innovation. not in terms of mechanics, but they make up for it by being strategic masterminds and being more versatile.

Here are the adjusted Top15 based on the number of times the players made it to GSL Code S Ro8:
PartinG 6.2 Innovation 6 Soulkey 6 Rain 5 MC 4.5 NesTea 4.3 Symbol 4.2 Maru 4 soO 4 HongUn 3.9 <----- MarineKing 3.6 Taeja 3.2 Life 3 Zest 3 Mvp 2.9 Truly one of the greatest Hey! He basically invented double forge vs Terran. I quite liked HongUn, remember when he would go Carriers, just to please his fans? Also, the whole preparation tournaments > weekend tournaments is weird. Both are valuable and should be treated as such. BUT, if we're trying to find players who are straight out more talented, why wouldn't a weekend tournament be the best way to determine a player's raw skill? This is probably also why Nestea is so high on the list. He's a preparation monster, but anytime he would travel to events out of Korea he would just suck. If you cannot play both styles well, you don't deserve to be one of the greatest players of all time. If a player like Rain that have no clue how to play a bo7, you should not be one of the greatest players of all time. nestea finished third at IPL4 and both Iron Squids.
Plus second at Blizzcon. Nestea only seemed meh at weekend events because he struggled with jetlag even more than most players.

it isn't even just jetlag, it's being old. nestea is around my age, and dawg if you're playing 12 hours a day like he was on the last day of IPL4, you can't do it at 30 like you can at 20. end of story.

the thing with parting, and i fell into that trap too, is that he doesn't have many huge wins. only 4 premier tournament wins isn't that much, and only 1 of them was filled with top competition through and through. he always was a top 3 protoss, but never quite was a championship winner per se.
that said, the top 5 should be polt, taeja, life, mc and mvp in that order.

how many international tournaments do you "need" to outweight one gsl ?
so we know polt > taeja or no

so we know polt > taeja or no considering that some of the international tournaments taeja won were around GSL level, and that taeja had fairly big success in GSl aswell when he still palyed there, i would say it's safe to assume that taeja is ranked higher than polt.

I think the champion of IPL4 should be #1

He was in the finals of 3 gsl tournaments (blizzard cup, gsl global tournament, gsl 2015 season 1) soO got in the list just for that. (yeah he was in 1 finals more, but does 1 final outweight 4 premier tournament wins, one of them the world championship?)

you can't just differentiate tournaments by their geographical location, you have to look at the player field. I would say the gsl super tournament outweights all of taejas HSC wins but taejas IEM shenzen win is nearly equally impressive.

Scarlett had a breakout performance there iirc.

IPL4 was the saddest story - when Stephano won IPL3 everyone was pissing in their pants out of excitement+ Show Spoiler + but when next season aLive won, everyone forgot there was a champion between Stephano and Leenock.

Squirtle made a gsl final and won IPL4 but he kind of feel off after that :/
not even worthy of a top 16 imo

just noticed right now :D

I'd have sacked Leenock at 15 for Stephano or Polt, if either of those two make Top 5 it seems extremely soft. The Top 4 is already clear that it's going to include Taeja/MC/Life/Mvp
