So for those of you who have missed it, perhaps because it isn't featured anymore , the SC AI Tournament is on!
* LIVE Stream (nonstop): http://hitbox.tv/sscaitournament * SSCAI Tournament web: http://sscaitournament.com/ * Facebook: facebook.com/groups/bwapi
AIs fighting each other to the death (because I've yet to see one with a gg-script), all races, all matchups! From questionable adaptations of the 1998 zealot rush, to multi-pronged reaver-arbiter wielding, all over the map expanding monster machines!
Here follow some battle reports with screenshots, to demonstrate the glory and valour grinded out 24/7 as long as the tournament lasts. Because although they can play, they cannot enjoy watching the games themselves, which is where we come in (because face it, we watch EU amateurs and Korean ex-pros, what use are we to the BW community if not as admirers?)
Will be updated as I watch some matches from time to time. To start off, two matches!
Jan Pajan (T) vs Adrian Sternmuller (Z)
minerals being mined... also marines and medics produced
gather forces, 1a2a3a -1m2m3m ??? it's a wipe!
try, try, try again, but still a wipe
zerg never attacked, just got lured by move-moving parties of T... gg!
Martin Dekar (T) vs Marek Kadek (T)
+ Show Spoiler +let's hope these guys are on a-move... they are! too bad the other bot is going mm+mech... oh the fancy debug-roles! too bad they're all dead... gg! (ebay floated to 5 took another 10 minutes to find, but gg nevertheless!)
|
Fiest game I watched was PvZ, where toss basically paved his entire base with cannons before finally building control group of zealots to go attack after like 15 min must have passed. Still kills the Zerg because it had not done anything beyond building spawning pool
|
Matej Kravjar (Z) vs Martin Strapko(P)
+ Show Spoiler +this must be a pro still n-pool
Jan Pajan (T) vs Tomas Vajda
+ Show Spoiler +minerals mined, m&m produced when all of a sudden! Vajda's superior macro kicks in marine shield is down, target the main generator command center
Dave Churchill (P) vs Martin Rooijackers (T)
+ Show Spoiler +this guy is at the top of the list, guess why Dutch name, race terran, no surprises here spot how it ended. it took a while...
|
I've been watching the stream unstop for the past hours and it's hilarious
|
Martin Pinter (T) vs Krasimir Krystev (T)
Both players get the basics right: Minerals mined, early forces set up to prevent a sixpool or something. Then there's the big difference: Composition. Pinter goes too heavy on the marine/vulture, while Krystev goes for tanks. There aren't many screenshots, because there's this automatic observer (I hope to god it's not human), which focusses on places based on some c++ magic (again I think). But to illustrate: + Show Spoiler +tanks versus tank is gg. Watch out for Krystev's tank push, it's really scary.
|
Igor Lacik (T) vs Soeren Klett (T)
Klett took silver last year, an opponent to watch out for perhaps?
+ Show Spoiler +it started with m&m being made then some tanks added then Lord Lucan took command not much later the siege was on vultures and spaceships were edging Lacik's tanks back scvs being killed (unti with most kills was NOT the wraith) the natural was broken and from there it all went downhill Apparently one doesn't only need tanks, but also the code to orchestrate a decent push. Lacik's tanks did a phenomenal job defending, if anyone ever writes a good tank on highground defense script, let me know. In the end, battlecruisers microing like goons, in front of a vulture-tank combo, it's all a bit much. Better take out Klett fast if you get the chance.
|
ICELab (T) vs Tomas Vajda (P)
+ Show Spoiler +these 3 tanks pummeled the natural and a couple of goons/zealots before I realised it was vs the carrier boss! too late, too late! tanks took out the main nexus, the remaining 2 carriers had no minerals left, and ICELab produced goliaths AT ONCE Watch out for those terrans!
|
ICELAB is the most fun to watch so far. Love how it repositions its sieged tanks after every shot like they're goons.
|
I didn't have time to program the marines to finish the game after a bunker rush. Instead I used Wraiths that scout the map at random and attack any building that comes into their sight. Hence the name LetaBot (Leta was known for his Wraiths).

Meanwhile on Aiur (or Char)
So while the terrans get all the praise, what is the proud sons (daughters?) of Aiur, where are the mindless hordes of the Overmind? (Capitalize Overmind right?) Don't AIs have pride, or mindlesness? Of the latter I'm now quite sure, but behind those AIs there must be a Programmer, which must, according to the ol' 'in his own image' yodel, be brimming with pride. Lets take a non-representative example:
David Milec (Z) vs Andrew Smith (P)
+ Show Spoiler +build to zerglings and send them on their way, a very good way, to start but then it gets repetitive, and if Smith keeps his units together, who can blame him? who saw that coming? there are high templar out and observers, but they couldn't be screenshot
|
Lukas Sedlacek (T) vs Krasimir Krystev (T)
So terran are the masters of the universe in AI-combat land, are they? Lets look at another tvt...
+ Show Spoiler +ok guys, group-hug! Krystev at the door but lets not worry! never no more... dropship supervising destruction. There were scvs too, repairing stuff. lets hope Krystev will face an opponent where it'll need all the fuzz it has but I haven't seen used yet.
|
Hey nepeta, who won the gold last year?
|
Vladimir Jurenka (P) vs Vojtech Jirsa (T)
+ Show Spoiler +1 marine in base while there is a goon out, 5 marines kill all probes a reaver had been made, with money for 2 scarabs left, kills all the marines there are more though Reavers vs infantry is deadly, especially vs AI'd infantry. I've seen 30 supply go down to 1 reaver, and that reaver ran away. But here it was clearly too late. And why the dragoon didn't kill the first marine... ???

|
Matej Istenik (T) vs Soeren Klett (T)
Another tvt? Yes! Klett I had seen already and he is a force to be reckoned with. Istenik I didn't know, but he turned out to be very solid too.
+ Show Spoiler +early rush defense? check gap detection and a defensive bunker: not a good sign tanks, perhaps Istenik has a good push up his sleeve as well? scanning after being hit by mines, omg! infantry kicks it, tanks and 1 wraith left for Klett battlecruiser sighted! Istenik had better be ready for this... he is: nice offensive siege line to cover the gap between 2nd and 3rd of Klett's not very much later not very much later either: gg Klett has a very solid tank push as well, would love to see him play Krystev. Istenik has some good moves as well, although this time he fell short because he made too much infantry.
|
Martin Dekar (T) vs Jacuk Trancik (P)
Good news from Aiur! + Show Spoiler +in-base cannon rush: pro those codes at the center were Dekar's last troops much later. look at the P main: no units. either an scv killed all the probes and is now killing buildings, or something equally horrible happened. we don't know, the obs doesn't show. still more than 60 minutes to go before the game ends and point score will determine the winner TT After 90 real minutes (the game is faster than fastest), protoss wins on points! VICTORY!
|
Yeah this one is a nail bitter. I'm still watching it too.
|
On Saltybets we call this a potato match.
