Keep up the good work, nepeta! (y) Awesome stuff! BTW, the BWAPI AI community would be grateful if you do some commented vods on replays after the tournament!
Thanks again!

Disclaimer: on of the authors here (Krasimir Krystev).

Commented vods would be nice, would have to look into that coming weekend. This tournament format is really challenging to any kind of format that isn't an exhibition of some sort. There is no clear structure other than a giant matrix of who plays who. There are many cool things to demonstrate though, so it's still a good idea.

Will there be a more structured tournament too?

In previous years, the top 8 bots were put in a tournament to determine the final winner. Here is the VOD of the final match of last year's tournament.

If you cannot win with 100 apm, win with 100 cpm.

Martin Dekar(T) vs. Adrian Sternmuller(Z)
+ Show Spoiler +

Martin Dekar opens with a Bio M&M build.
This build goes up against the Hydralisk build of Adrian Sternmuller.
Martin Dekar suffers heavy casualties against the hydralisk, but it does have the power of a white cube.

Eventually, the M&M army overwhelms the hydralisks.

But then, Martin Dekar only uses its M&M to guard a mineral field used for very long distance mining

The hidden Zerg base has produced enough units to attack. Martin Dekar managed to hold of this attack with the power of two white cubes.

Unfortunately even two white cubes are not enough to defeat the second attack, and Martin Dekar loses.

LetaBot(T) vs. Martin Pinter(T):
+ Show Spoiler +

The game starts of with both players going for a Bio heavy army.
Martin Pinter gets first blood.

But the marine from LetaBot gets revenge

Eventually the marine micro from LetaBot is too overwhelming, causing Martin Pinter to pull its SCV's.

But it was not enough. And LetaBot remains undefeated

The match between Jakub Trancik's cannon rushing P vs Karin Valisova's marine-bat-vult-wraith making T is hilarious.

Karin Valisova(T) vs. Jakub Trancik(P)
+ Show Spoiler +

Jakub Trancik opens with a cannon rush.
Followed by even more cannon rush.

Karin Valisova tries to break the contain with Bio units, to no avail.

But Karin Valisova simply uses Wraiths to destroy the Protoss base.

Karin Valisova had just one problem, it never learned to build siege tanks.
If it would continue to attack the cannons with bio, then Jakub Trancik would win based on in-game score.
Unfortunately for the bot, this was not meant to be. By spending more than 55 milliseconds per frame on cannon micro, it eventually exceeding the time penalty and lost the game.

My last battle report for now.
Can the zerg defeat the 100% winrate bot.

+ Show Spoiler +

The zerg bot opens with a 6 pool
[image loading]

Some heavy fighting going on at the Terran base.

Even more fighting. LetaBot is loosing a lot of SCV's

Unfortunately for LetaBot, a 6 pool on a 2 player map is too much to handle.
LetaBot loses its 100% winrate

Your bot is pretty sick but what happens if it doesn't win with the bunker rush?

Just a little correction: the games timeout after 90 in-game minutes (86400 logical frames), which is much faster than real-world minutes.

ICELab (T) vs Andrew Smith (P)

It is time for another ICELab report. One of the better terran bots, now advanced to rank 6, while Smith occupies the 5th position. Both bots are more than decent, possess numerous strategies to deal with various situations and are very robust. If it weren't lunchtime, I'd get some popcorn.

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
Is this Korea? A veritable goon pressure on a repaired bunker.

ICELab holds by the skin of its teeth, and vultures weave a web of mines.

A tank push gets ahead of itself and Smith cuts it down easily.

Once more unto the breach, my friends! Will ICELab hold?

Tanks hold the line from behind the wall and claim the field once more.

Keep them rolling!

I'm about to drop the hammer-

- and show some indiscriminate sauron terran!

Smith's efforts to rebuild melt under the unforgiving arcalite cannon: gg.

ICElab demonstrated once more the power of the siege tank. But, if it were not for the bunker hold and spider mine deployment, Smith might have won this battle. Perhaps Smith is the most advanced protoss, with excellent macro skills and templar implementation. Its next challenge will be to learn to split the T, that is, it has arrived at the point all of the best bots are at.

Te ability to crack a fortified tank line may be the key to dominance for any top bot out there.

Bjorn Persson Mattsson (P) vs Tomas Vajda (P)

The infamous Vajda with his carrier bot is on the loose again! Will Mattsson be able to deal with it?

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
Ever tried to micro 5 goons down a ramp and round a cliff?

Retreat!

Also notice the frames > 55 ms: if 320 frames take more than 55 ms to execute, the bot gets disqualified. Mass goons seems to require lots of commands. To retreat, they weren't firing much.

Luckily the number of goons decreased fast. But still gg.

Vajda's XIMP bot now takes 3rd place. At the end of this game I saw it operate 3 groups of carriers independently: they were attacking seperate targets. For Aiur!

David Milec (Z) vs Rafal Poniatowski (T)

No screenshots because the action is taking place in no-mans land. Milec started a 4-pool ling rush, but Poniatowski was prepared with 2 bunkers. The lings kept coming in pairs, but stalwarthly the terran AI teched up to bats and vultures, and eventually vulture-danced its way to the zerg base. There all the drones got killed, and work on the hatchery started. Unfortunately, the vultures decided to mine the place, which resulted in several horrible ling-egg-vulture killing daebaks. In the end, with no mining going of for Z, the vultures killed the hatch and pool, and it was gg.

Andrew Smith with Skynet 2.0 (T) vs Krasimir Krystev's Krasi0bot (T)

These two gosus are coming up. Smith's Skynet barely lost to ICELab half an hour before, how will it fare versus that other formidable terran hero Krasi0bot, with it's perhaps even scarier siege tank push? Will the early aggression work this time? Or will it come down to the large scale mid-game engagements once again?

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
Goon pressure: check.

Ready to roll out!

Vultures we can handle -

- but from tanks we run away and gg. ...

All nice and dandy, but if your units try to stay out of siege tank reach, there isn't mucht hope fighting a tank push.

Andrew Smith (P) vs Jan Pajan (T)

One of the less accomplished terrans, how will our valiant bot of Aiur fare this time?

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
Probe kills 5 SCVs while marine stands by.

Goon pressure without a bunker, gg.

Good enough to keep down the scrubs, but not enough to throw down with the big boys. Maybe next year!

Krasimir Krystev (T) vs Black White (P)

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
Uh-ow...

Black White had issues too.

Tank/Vulture plasma.

Krystev's 1 dropship ferried vultures and goliaths into Black White's main, but the stouthearted Protoss had developped a neurosis of his own, and stopped doing things. In the end, after the P main was dead and Krystev's forces failed to kill expansions (tried and failed? not even tried!), Black White got disqualified because it caused too many frames to exceed 55 ms. ...

Martin Rooijackers (T) vs Rafal Poniatowski (T)

Roojkackers' LetaBot dropped only 1 game out of 14 yesterday, to a 4pooling zerg. How will he fare today?

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
Poniatowski placed a bunker! Help!

Vultures mined the trail...

Before the factory for the starport for the wraiths got up, gg.

Second loss for the Dutch Terran! Now he still is ranked 1 because of more wins vs 2 losses, but Dave Churchill, Tomas Vajda (Carriers!) and Tomas Cere are breathing down his neck. Just below that, Krystev and ICELab with 3 losses each. This tournament isn't over yet!

Tomas Cere (P) ICELab (T)

Got home late, fell in to this beauty. Tomas Cere had advanced to the number 1 position, with only 2 losses, but ICELab still has a reputation for wrecking anything non-cheesy. The game, is afoot!

+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
Cere starts with a small force to guard the holy circle.

Vultures defend the push and win the field.

ICELab puts pressure on the 3rd. Siegetank fire is a major issue for any race-

Zealots give their lives and clear the threat.

ICELab being a dirty cliffer again.

Then Cere suicides 120 supply into another tank line,

ICELab drops goliaths in the 3rd,

and it all goes downhill from there rather quickly.

Standings at the rather arbitrary point -almost halfway through the matches- now:

There is terran at the top, but the two bots holding the top two spots are world apart: LetaBot is the hardest cheeser of the lot, perhaps excepting some 4pooling zergs. Still, he's got the results to back it up, so cheers! The number 2 is ICELab, by the looks of it the most complete AI. Very good choke management, deadly vulture/mine use and a decent tank push. Takes very few risks and plays like Flash in his prime: Like a steam rolling boa constrictor. The other number 2 is Vajda, with the sick carriers. Seems straightforward enough: hide behind masses of cannons and fly out with carriers, but almost unstoppable. The first 10:

1) 17-3 (T) Martin Rooijackers with LetaBot is back! The competition dropped some maps, and it's 17-3 for the cheeys Dutchman.
2) 16-3 (T) ICELab moves up to second. Very solid play, only susceptible to hard cheeses (see LetaBot).
3) 16-3 (P) Tomas Vajda. The carrier king. Solid cannon defense and 3x4 carrier groups coming after that, hard to hold!
4) 15-3 (P) Dave Churchill. Solid protoss, still in the running for the top spot by the looks of it.
5) 20-4 (P) Andrew Smith, another very solid protoss. One more loss than 1-4, but 3-5 more wins too.
6) 13-3 (P) Tomas Cere. Good protoss with difficulties vs the best terrans. Like all protoss.
7) 14-4 (T) Krasimir Krystev. Solid terran, still a contender but will have to rack up some wins to get back up there.
8) 17-5 (T) Soeren Klett, one of the more vulnerable terrans, but still solid. Needs a bit of luck in the top of the bracket.
9) 15-5 (Z) Vaclav Horazny, the first zerg! Win rate flesh and blood pros would die for, but he seems to be falling short here.
10) 16-6 (Z) Marek Supa. Never seen this gentlebot play, but seems to be doing well.

Nepeta, the screenshot commented reports are amazing! We all really appreciate them.
Maybe in order to save some time due to the great volume of played games, just focus on the games of the top 8 (ordered by avg score) bots?
I wonder if hitbox could be made to store past recordings. Anyone?
