I was thinking of the cases, when one misses out on their bot playing, e.g. during night time. Also, it might be useful to the blogger to fast-forward during more boring matches.

PS: Cannon micro with no living units can be hard work! (I guess i'm desperately searching for a cannon builder, that needs a fix :D)

Rafal Poniatowski(T) vs. Denis Ivancik(Z):

So funny that it does not deserve spoiler tags (unfortunately no pictures).
Denis Ivancik opens up with.... 1 drone scout. No spawning pool or extra drones.
After defeating the drone scout, Rafal Poniatowski sends 3 vultures to destroy the enemy drone and hatchery.

After defeating the drones without the support of 20 marines and 3 tanks (dancing around in the middle) the vultures start attacking the hatchery. While the vultures are attacking the hatchery, the spider mine research finishes.

The moment that it finishes is the moment that all 3 vultures start planting mines.
Unfortunately for the vultures, the spider mines pop due to the larva, and the splash damage from the spider mines kill all three vultures. Yes, that is right, the only units lost by Rafal Poniatowski are the units killed by his own spider mines.

He did eventually destroy the hatchery and won.

Tomas Cere opens with fast dragoon, Dave Churchil with fast zealot.
The dragoon micro stalled the zealot rush, but eventually Tomas Cere lost.

It's been a while since I last wrote, but the tournament is still going strong. I've got some screenshot sets from yesterday and will do some lower ranked bots today. The top bots are all nice and dandy, but sometimes I feel the real charm of this AI competition lies in the good ideas that, for one reason or another, don't bear fruit.

Rafal Poniatowski (T) vs Marian Devecka (Z)

One of the few bots I rather watch as an opponent; if it doesn't crash the game on startup, it is a very impressive zerg. Good macro and a veery leetle dirty treeck!

First lurkers get semi-repelled.

Tanks pop for Poniatowski and the Devecka's attack is stopped completely.

In the true spirit of zerg, massive amounts of lurker/ling are thrown at the bunker and tanks, often burrowing late.

Poniatowski didn't scout anymore, which is a shame, because there must be some serious macro going on beneath the fog of war.

Lift a rax out of spite... I feared half an hour of this screen burning in my screen, but then-

5 minutes later a single hydra was created and drove it home!

Tomas Vajda (P) vs Florian Richoux (P)

Normally Vajda should have this, because although Richoux has a very decent protoss bot, the Carrier King has been doing very well so far -and no reason to suspect otherwise in the future.

Both on 3-base, a couple of attacks have struck a cannon wall, and the first carriers are out.

Richoux's ground forces take down Vajda's 3rd.

Vajda's XIMP bot has 2 bases, Richoux 3. Now look at the time: 27:52: Mains and naturals are drying out. This will all come down to macro (I think).

Vajda has stopped expanding, is not distance-mining, out of minerals! (not gas, obviously)

Unfortunately, Richoux forgot to build anti-air, and the game for him is lost.

Black White (P) vs Ludmila Nemsilajova (T)

Now a hidden gem. 21-6 in games, not up there with the very best but close behind, there is a slumbering taskmaster which has, by the looks of a first person video, a lot of power at its disposal. Nemsilajova is a bit down in the table, a punch-up may be inevitable, but lets look at the beauty of it all:

Nemsilajova's text is superimposed upon by the broadcasting software, but look at the grid-mapping: scouting obviously is very important to this bot.

~~Skynet~~Black White has run a combat sim, and thinks a probe may be victorious vs a building SCV... Also note the 'hitlist' in the top right: 1 command center and 1 depot known to be killed.

Disregarding the fact that Nemsilajova's troops are not intent on defending themselves, the next combat sim predicted a zealot and a probe are up to another SCV. Not the build-order in green in the top left, and the something manager bottom right. Remind me to ask Black White's boss what that's all about, it looks pro.

This combat simulator, I didn't get the code book, is 100% correct: Marines do not fire upon dragoons unless they're 3 to 1. One good killed 6.

Now, when I think about it, you did well to devote more time on the lower ranked bots. Truth to be told, it's not an easy task to develop a good bot, hence a bot creator has to start from somewhere and then build on top of that foundation to achieve something decent.
Other commentors and I have been a bit extra critical / harsh on the chat, which seems to only do a disservice to the effort put into any bot and even worse - might as well discourage some newcomers from even trying. Now, that would be a net loss for the comminuty.

Anyway, enough ranting. Thanks again for the hilarious read!

I first heard of this game, when I heard the the words "Prepped and ready!". About 5 times. Then I heard it 10 times more. Switch to the stream, and this is what I saw:
